Cerisor: Indeed. If you don't mind me asking, Doctor, I was curious when you became the Chief Medical Officer? If you forgive me for saying, we seem quite close in age, and it's unusual for someone so young to be running the entire Medical division. Not that I doubt your capability, of course.

As soon as the question came out of his mouth, Rylar worried about how it might sound. He certainly didn't have any doubts about someone who was named CMO, but he kept his mouth shut, deciding that caveating his question further would only complicate his message.

Shortrith: Well… two weeks, give or take a day.

Rylar looked at them, and then nodded. There wasn't a shred of skepticism or doubt in his look. He simply asked a question and it was answered. He nodded.

Shortrith: I was initially posted on the Astraeus last year as a medical officer, but due to the ship being taken back to Earth, Starfleet transferred me here in August as assistant counsellor. At the start of this year, I was Acting Chief Medical Officer and Counsellor while Doctor Beck, our previous Chief, was on Earth for Division 14 matters. When he came back, I took the opportunity to dual post as Medical Officer and Counsellor… up until two weeks ago, which led me to where I am now. I'm assuming this is your first assignment?

Rylar listened as they explained how they found themself in this position. He finally took a sip of his raktajino, and looked at it with a surprised expression. Clearly I was pleased with whatever recipe they had programmed into the replicator.

Cerisor: Yes, it is. After achieving my doctorate and taking my final exam, I was shuttled to Lolagi IV, where I transferred onto the Ronin. And... extenuating circumstances kept me from reporting to you, or the Captain. I'm happy things have calmed down now, of course. As the ship's CMO, I'm here to support you in whatever way is needed. My specialty is in surgery, but I am well versed in other, non-invasive treatments as well. I have to admit though, I have no experience as a counselor. But I am more than happy to assist you in whatever matters are needed. ::sips more of the drink:: You mentioned Doctor Beck returning, but I've not seen him around. Where is he?

Shortrith: Doctor Beck's currently in stasis alongside Narhelion's baby.

Cerisor: Oh. I see... perhaps at some point I can find some time to catch up on exactly what happened.

Shortrith: Response

Cerisor: I agree. There are other matters that I believe we should focus on first. I suggest we inventory our medical supplies first. After the last few days, I'd like to know where we stand, and know what we have left to work with before we can resupply. I'd also like to go over the medical records of the crew. I can do that in spare moments, however. Treatment of any still injured crew is my priority. I'd like to get as many people back to active duty as possible.

Shortrith: Response

Rylar drained his cup of raktajino, placing the cup onto the desk. Leaning forward, he clasped his hands together and leaned against the desk. His face was all business. Clearly, he didn't take the CMO lightly. He would treat them just like any senior officer, despite their closeness in age, and their relatively new position.

oO If they were chosen as CMO, the captain must trust them. Who am I to disagree? Oo

Cerisor: Just point me where you need me, boss.

Shortrith: Response
