Shortrith: How's the hot chocolate?

Syrex: It’s very nice, thank you. How’s your bean juice?

Renaie smirked at Alyndra's comment before smiling.

Shortrith: It's quite nice. It reminds me of ones made previously by people I know.

Syrex: I’m pretty sure that Quentin has something similar set-up on his personal replicator. You could ask Lieutenant Evinrude to help you set it up? I’d never say this to his face, but he’s a decent operations officer. Almost entirely handled the great fish replicator incident of 2401.

Renaie raised an eyebrow sceptically.

Shortrith: Great fish replicator…? You know what, I won't ask. I'll probably find out later.

Syrex: Are you settling in alright? To the Ronin and our medical department?

Shortrith: I think so? I need to make friends, though. You're the only one here who I can say I'm friends with.

Syrex: Well, I’m sure we can find you some more people to socialise with. Who’ve you met so far?

Shortrith: I've only really interacted so far with the people who were on the bridge last mission, Lieutenant JG Om-Zora… and you.

Renaie watched Alyndra dunk something into her drink.

Syrex: Om-Zora… You may be tweeting up the wrong nest there…

Alyndra appeared to eat something, but Renaie wasn't entirely sure what it was she was eating. They'd find out later.

Shortrith: I think you'll probably know this about me by now but… I am bad at socialising with strangers.

Syrex: They aren’t strangers, just friends you haven’t met yet. You’re both in starfleet, that’s a start.

Shortrith: True…

Renaie stared into their raktajino for a moment before having another sip.

Syrex: My roommate when I was an ensign was Lieutenant T’Fearne. Although we don’t see each other every single day anymore. She’s still the closest person to me on the ship, perhaps even the quadrant.

Shortrith: I don't have a roommate. I didn't have one on the Astraeus, either.

Syrex: Well that’s a shame. Roommates can be hit and miss, but if you get the right one, you’ve got a friend for life.

Shortrith: I'm happy you got a good one.

Syrex: Response

Shortrith: How… how does one go about making friends here?

Syrex: Response

Shortrith: I can try that, I suppose. I could always request a roommate, right?
