((Sickbay, Deck 10, USS Ronin))
It had been about thirty minutes since the security personnel had brought the Commander, in pieces, to Sickbay.
Delphina’s arms were folded as she listened intently, trying to figure out how to put the commander back together. She’d spent these last thirty minutes collecting all the information that the Federation had on Mudd-type androids, as well as taking a skimmed refresher on Construction of the Android Form, and she had just been about to suggest a replacement for Oswald’s entire hip joint, when she heard a sudden noise.
Oswald: ::wide smile:: Hello. How may I serve you?
Jumping a little, Delphina dropped her PADD, letting the sling catch it, and turned to Oswald.
Cersior: By the Prophets... can you hear us, Commander?
Wren: Commander, are you alright?? You just fell down a lift shaft, sit back a moment.
O'Connor: Response
Oswald: Sorry that's my default. Are all of you alright? I hope I was the only one who fell down the turbolift shaft. Does anyone need some tea?
Cerisor: I'll pass, Commander Oswald. Besides, you're in no condition to be making tea. But everyone else is safe.
Wren: You’ve… experienced quite a bit of damage. We lost the turbolift itself, but that should be easy to replace. ::Trying to remind him of his worth:: Unlike you. Also, thank you for not crushing Remy ::reaching up and tapping Remy’s head as he sits on her shoulder::.
O'Connor: Response
Oswald: Um ::pause:: Is um ::pause, pointing:: Is that my leg?
Cerisor: It is, Commander. Currently your condition is, how can I say? Partially disassembled. We were able to locate most of your pieces. However, unfortunately, your other arm is currently floating somewhere around, I'd say, the outside of Deck 4.
Delphina’s mouth twisted, a little sad as she saw Oswald’s expression change at the sight of his damaged leg. She still couldn’t fully read his emotions, but she couldn’t imagine that seeing his own, partially demolished body part couldn’t be good for his mental health.
Wren: ::Reassuring smile:: We can retrieve it, Mr. Oswald. Chip’s already working on picking through the debris, and once we recollect the arm, we can get started on repairs. I’ve already made some blueprints for your damaged leg. Luckily your interior skeletal structure has excellent shock absorption, meaning your frame isn’t as damaged as it could be.
O'Connor/Oswald: Response
Cerisor: You've lost a lot of coolant, Commander, along with a lot of lubricant. From what I understand, any vigorous movement by you has a danger of damaging your systems and even overheating you. But simply being conscious shouldn't be enough to put a strain on your system, as long as you remain still. My understanding is once the engineers retrieve your arm and we can replicate the fluids we need, you have to keep yourself at a minimum of movement.
She smiled, trying not to feel guilty for what had happened. It was more or less his first day. And granted, there was never a guarantee that your first day aboard a Starfleet ship would be easy, but Delphina felt that falling down a turbolift shaft was one for the books. Especially with the hard time the rest of the crew had unintentionally been giving him.
Wren: I’ve reached out to some of my fellow engineers. They’re scraping samples of the fluid right now, and we’re hoping to get you moving within a couple of hours. Though, ::apologetically:: the limbs may take a little longer.
O'Connor/Oswald: Response
Cerisor: ::grinning:: That's right, Commander. Bed rest. Doctor's orders.
Wren: ::Picking up her PADD and leaning forward so he can see:: This is the blueprint I’ve designed for your damaged leg, and the knee-bolt we’ll use for re-attaching your other leg. Your fingers are already woven back to your cable tendons. We do need to work on a way to develop the artificial skin, but I’m confident our engineers and scientists can create something both tough and flexible.
Delphina felt a little desperate as she showed him what they’d been working on. As though she was trying to promise him that they did care, and they did want him here. oO I’m sorry you fell down a turbolift shaft. I’m so sorry you fell down a turbolift shaft. Please don’t leave because you fell down a turbolift shaft…. Oo
O'Connor/Oswald: Response
Wren: ::relieved:: Well, that would make things so much easier! Thank you…. If we work together, it’ll go much more quickly. ::smiling:: I’m looking forward to working with you, Mr. Oswald.
O'Connor/Oswald: Response
