((Transporter Room 2, Deck 06, USS Ronin))
Niac: =/\= I'm reminded in this moment of the wisdom of some of our predecessors, from an era when the exploration of space meant dangerous journeys just to reach the world's nearest moon. I believe it was a human explorer who said 'I have two Outlooks and neither is working...' and I've always felt that was profoundly wise...when that early pioneer was confronted by the unknown, when his outlook was challenged by the unexpected, he recognized it and adapted. He grew. He rose to the challenge of his era just as you have risen to the challenges of yours. I have never served with a more competent group of officers than those among this crew so I know that, no matter what our forthcoming mission has in store for us, we will rise to the challenge as we always do. Ronin Strong. That is all. =/\=
oO Ronin strong. Oo
T'Fearne: ::mermering:: Ronin Strong.
Wren: Congratulations!! That is so great!! We-oop
Before any of the little group moved along, Renaie couldn't resist the urge to wrap their arms around T'Fearne in congratulations.
(They didn't notice Delphina's grin or T'Fearne's widening eyes.)
She jumped a little as Shortrith went in for the hug, hiding a grin as she watched T'Fearne's eyes widen.
Shortrith: Well done, my friend.
Evinrude: Hear hear! ::He shouted gleefully.:: T'Fearne, sir, drinks next time are courtesy of your increased replicator privileges!
T'Fearne: ::slightly breathless, very touched and throat a little tight:: Thank…. Put…down, …Renaie!
At the lieutenant's request, they lowered her gently to the ground.
Wren: ::giving a friendly pat on the shoulder:: The two of you did so well, you should be so proud!
Shortrith: You too! Three ribbons is an awesome achievement. Well done Tess, T'Fearne.
Evinrude: Thanks, all of you! I am...shocked, honestly. At the Medal of Valor, I mean...the rest of these awards and promotions make perfect since!
Renaie shook their head, indicating that the Medal of Valor being awarded to Tess made perfect sense to them.
T'Fearne: I read Kessler’s report on the mission, Tess. ::breaking into a dark-eyed grin:: I hear you’re developing a reputation for being the “leverage” on an away team. ::slight tilt of the head:: Or was that someone else crawling through the moon base with Kessler and Tucker, exchanging fire with hostiles, making doors in floors and forcing difficult Romulan tech to eat Esot’s shutdown patch for the reactor experiment? …Sounds well deserved.
Renaie smiled to themself, their home, their friends, their found family, were all on this ship. They had a place where they belonged, and share the love and care around.
If one told eighteen-year-old Renaie that they were posted in the Alpha Isles as a Counsellor and a Medical Officer on a starfleet vessel, with two months experience as Acting Chief Medical Officer under their belt, they would have told you that you were kidding, you didn't know what you were talking, and surely they wouldn't be that far away from home.
But nonetheless, there was twenty-eight-year-old Renaie, with all the life experience and friendships, family, a relationship that only lasted a bit but now on good-ish terms with the other person, and a sense of community.
oO I'm pretty damn stoked with where I am in life. Oo
Really, she wasn't sure. But she knew that she was happy for her friends.
Wren: I'm so happy for both of you ::hitching her bag up her shoulder:: We should do something to celebrate once the mission’s over!
Shortrith: I'm inclined to agree - do we all want to do something together next shoreleave?
T'Fearne: That would be agreeable. ::glancing between them:: Very well, drinks on me after this mission? The holodeck perhaps. I believe I have upgraded holodeck privileges. Unless there is a breathable atmosphere and reasonable facilities where we are going on this mission.
Evinrude: Seconded. Wherever we end up, let's find something fun! ::He turned to Ensign Wren, feeling that she had been offering plenty of congratulations but deserved more herself.:: Delphina, if that last mission is any indicator of your career here, I will try to steal you away from Tucker into the operations department!
Wren: ::a little awkwardly:: Oh, no it’s… I didn’t do much during that mission, I’m sure it’s just a formality ::nervous laugh, before returning her attention to Shortrith:: Honestly, you did great too! I heard that you and Beck are talking about your next steps?
Shortrith: About dabbling in both medical and counselling? Yeah, I've got some shifts in sickbay to finesse certain skills - specifically finessing my surgical skills at the moment.
Renaie noticed Tess and T'Fearne drawing closer, so they gave the pair a moment to themself and gave Delphina a reassuring smile.
Shortrith: Any idea what this mission's about? I've only heard about the mission specialists from the Goodall, but I haven't heard anything else.
Wren: I haven’t heard anything at all. I spoke to Dahl briefly, but he was completely lost too. Do you know what kind of specialists?
T'Fearne: I know the same as you, just what the captain and Raga have announced.
Evinrude: The sudden departure, the "specialists"...this all strikes me as Need To Know, you know?
Shortrith: I'm like eighty-five percent sure that the actual topic is classified, but our department heads will probably fill us in on what we need to know, right?
oO That's what happened when I was ACMO, at least. Oo
Evinrude: Undoubtedly. I've never known any of the senior officers to withhold critical information.
Wren: From what I heard Chip didn’t have a clue either…. I’m pretty sure Remy’s somewhere on the loose, maybe he’s recorded something?
Renaie gave a mildly concerned look at the mention of the ensign's creation recording potentially classified information, but tried not to make anything of it.
T'Fearne: If I were to guess with the limited details from the Captain and Commander’s announcements, it’s a Lattice Alliance escalation. Starfleet doesn't want to trigger a panic, hence the secrecy and mission specialists being sent to deliver the details in person. I understand operational security, but I think they should trust the crew more.
oO Please not another Ross-580… Oo
Shortrith: Probably.
That probably was more to themself than anything.
Wren: ::checking her PADD:: Oh, I should probably go to engineering to check in with the chief. Maybe he’ll fill us in then?
T’Fearne: ::Looking at the others:: If I find anything out I’ll share what I’m cleared to.
Evinrude: I'm not sure where I'll be supporting, but if anyone's departments need anything, just reach out. Operations has your back!
Wren: Much appreciated! I’ll see you guys later!
Shortrith: See ya later!
T'Fearne: Take care Delphina, and if you end up fighting anything, just do what you did to me at the beach. Your unpredictability is a skill. ::offering a Ta’al as the petit officer dashed away::
Evinrude: Response
Renaie gave a small smile as Delphina picked up Remy from one of the air vents, and softly shook their head reassuringly as T'Fearne instinctively reached for her phaser that she didn't currently have.
T'Fearne: What on Betazed was that? Something leapt from the vent to her.
Shortrith: That's Remy, her little robot. If I recall correctly, she referred to him as her son. He's one of her creations.
oO Very creative mind, that one. Oo
Evinrude: Response
T'Fearne: She made it or brought it onboard? Are you sure? It looked uncomfortably Tholian shaped.
Shortrith: Yeah, she made him. Rest assured, Remy's not a Tholian.
oO He's a crafty little bot. Oo
Evinrude: Response
T'Fearne: I’ll confirm with her later. I just wasn’t expecting a creature.
Renaie gave a reassuring smile, noticing T'Fearne's uncertainty.
T'Fearne: ::Turning to Renaie:: If you are cross training with the medical department, you are welcome to cross train with security too. ::bracing her own ribs:: With a hug like that, you would do well in hand to hand combat.
At that, they smiled.
Shortrith: ::Trying to stay serious:: As long as I don't break my oath to do no harm. ::They cracked, letting out a laugh:: I would also be able to build on my knowledge from having a minor in security.
Evinrude: Response
T'Fearne: Let me know if you are interested. ::Turning to Tess:: We should go get changed into our uniforms and report to our duty stations.
Shortrith: I'll give it a thought. I'll see you guys around. I'll reach out about the shoreleave hangout.
Evinrude: Response
Renaie gave a hopeful wave and a smile as they walked away.
