((Transporter Room, Deck 06, USS Ronin))

tr’Kharis: ::clipped, cool tone, almost matter-of-fact:: =/\= This is Administrator tr’Kharis to this vessel's security! You are about to have a Tholian intruder onboard at my present location. Reinforcements would be… prudent. =/\=

The old Romulan slipped behind the transporter console, weapon ready as motes of light swirled on the pad and a struggling pair of creatures materialised.

Soldu waited half a second until he could distinguish Orion from Tholian, then he fired. The first phaser blast struck the creature square in the torso. Energy lanced violently across the crystalline carapace. Partially refracting, hit but still dangerous.

The creature staggered, but remained upright. Soldu stepped from behind the console, posture upright, one arm had grown unresponsive from his earlier wound and dangled at his side. His visor cast his expression into cool emerald shadow as the targeting system painted an orange glyph assist on the hostile. His second shot managed to shatter a lower limb joint. He adjusted the angle minutely to avoid Solana’s shoulder by centimeters.

tr’Kharis: ::calm, almost conversational:: I trust you will forgive the delay, Senior Chief.

Solana: And you thought beaming this thing on board was a GOOD idea?

She was angry, he could tell and it made a crooked grin creep over his scarred jaw. Anger would help keep her alive. She would fight harder.

She lunged, knives flashing in incandescent arcs and struck high at the crystalline warriors arms. The Tholian twisted with unsettling speed, deflecting one blade and catching her forearm with a glancing strike. It moved with tactical intelligence, repositioning constantly to keep her between itself and Soldu. When she went in again, it seized her mid-motion and dragged her close—using her as a living barrier.

Soldu’s phaser lowered a fraction, unsure of his cyclops aim to be able to hit the target around the Senior Chief, he crept closer to the transporter pad.

tr’Kharis: ::voice flat, irritation threading beneath civility:: I would prefer you not obscure my line of fire, Senior Chief.

Solana: When…this is over…we’re gonna talk about why my shipmates…are unconscious, Soldu.

He winced internally at her deceptively playful tone. If the Tholian did not finish him off, she very well might later. Watching her drive those white-hot blades repeatedly into the creature’s already damaged leg, he briefly decided the crystalline horror was the preferable adversary to the Orion witch.

The Tholian shrieked, a splintering, resonant cry like fracturing glass. A slender arm-blade punched clean through her hazard suit and left side in retaliation.

She hissed through clenched teeth but did not yield.

Soldu’s visor flared with a different kind of warning glyph as her vitals spiked alarmingly and he lunged three steps to the right, swiftly altering the angle of fire.

tr’Kharis: ::voice sharpening:: Solana. Step back. Immediately.

Solana: Please tell me you…::cough:: Called for backup?

tr’Kharis: ::irritated hiss:: Yes. Of course I did. I am not completely incompetent.

She ripped one blade free and struck again, again, again. The two combatants crashed into the wall beside the pad in a violent tangle.

Soldu saw an opening, sweeping a line of phaser fire across the creature's shoulder joint. The exosuit blackened instantly, blistering under the sustained beam. With a brittle crack, the arm sheared free and skittered across the transporter pad. Superheated vapor hissed from the stump. Then, disturbingly, the suit sealed itself, bubbling shut.

Right on cue, the transporter room doors exploded inward. Two armored figures moved through the threshold with disciplined precision, phaser rifles raised.

Solana/Singh/Winters: Response

Soldu did not move away. Instead, he stepped forward, dropped his phaser, grasped one blade-like crystalline leg with his good hand, and hauled backward with surprising strength. The hostile staggered, off balance as its hold on Solana loosening just enough.

tr’Kharis: ::straining:: Now! Shoot it Now.

Solana/Singh/Winters: Response

Phaser fire erupted, echoing in the confined transporter room.

The Tholian jerked, lashing out, trying to rotate Solana into the line of fire.

Soldu released the leg suddenly, destabilizing the creature again.

The flailing limb lashed outward scoring a vicious tear across his containment suit from collarbone to hip. The impact spun him off his feet. He hit the transporter pad hard and rolled, a pained snarl escaping his composure.

tr’Kharis: ::breath sharp:: Arrg…there…there is your reinforcements. Senior Chief… you are welcome.

Solana/Singh/Winters: Response
