((Reactor Dome, Moon Sigma, Ross 580 System))
While Officers Esot, Shortrith and Zh'taan had barely managed to make it into a transporter room after escaping a Tholian attack, Ensign Esot immediately got to work trying to restore the transporter.
Zh'taan stopped suddenly.
Zh'taan: Look, there is some sort of hatch in the floor.
Esot: That appears to be an alternative. If you study the layout of the dome, you'll see the tube that hatch leads to continues forward and down to the same level as the pump room. =/= Commander Tucker, you may be able to find a hatch in the wall on the southern end of the pump room. I will attempt to disable the locking mechanism so your team has an alternative means of escape, should I have an issue getting a transporter lock from the pump room. =/=
Kelor had knelt beside the hatch to examine it.
Kessler: =/= Kessler to Esot. That hatch is welded shut from our side. If you can unlock it, I can try and get through the weld. =/=
Tucker: =/= Don’t want to rush you, ensign, but we need to get out of here. The radiation levels have risen even now, with the pump online or almost online. To keep it that way, we need that patch. =/=
Esot: =/= I am working on it, I assure you. =/=
Zh'taan: I will try to unlock it. ::stands up:: I will take care of it, Ensign Esot, you can focus on the transporter.
As Esot was working at the station.
Esot: I believe one of you will need to manually flip the switch to power on the connector. The console is in low power mode and appears to be fed from the pad itself.
Shortrith: I'm happy to do it.
Renaie moved over to the switch, a contrast of the brightness of it compared to the wall . A soft, classic click let them know that the switch was on, with the console and the pad beginning to hum to life.
On his side, Kelor was busy with one of the room’s PADDs and remained silent. He was searching for the mechanism to unlock the hatch.
Esot: This pad is not particularly powerful - it appears the primary function was site-to-site transport capability, so the range is limited.
Shortrith: Will we be able to beam back to the shuttle?
Esot: These are the connected pads. I believe we can use these to initialize a transport chain that should allow us to beam directly to the Anna Pavlova.
Kelor turned his head toward Renaie while navigating through the LCARS interface.
Zh'taan: It should be possible, but we will have to be careful with the radiation, it could interfere with the transport.
Esot's fingers danced over the console, and one of the nearby monitors displayed a layout of the facility, several other rooms highlighted.
Esot: These are the connected pads. I believe we can use these to initialize a transport chain that should allow us to beam directly to the Anna Pavlova.
Shortrith: That's good. Hopefully the radiation won't cause any negative shenanigans.
Zh'taan: Once I have managed to unlock the hatch, I will try to resynchronize the transporter’s clock, we will also need to stabilize the transporter beam. ::looks at his colleagues in turn::
Nodding, the Cardassian tapped her combadge as she worked on connecting the required transporter pads.
Esot: =/= Ensign Esot to Commander Tucker. I am currently working on securing our escape route - how go the repairs? =/=
Kessler: ::changing his phaser settings:: =/= Cutting through the weld now. ETA, four minutes. =/=
Kelor tapped his combadge. He was going to find that unlocking parameter eventually!
Zh'taan: =/= Very well... Lieutenant Kessler? oO I think Oo I am currently searching for the hatch’s unlocking protocol, it should not take me too long. =/= oO Normally… Oo
Tucker: =/= How’s it going up there?
Shortrith: =/= We've got a plan, at least, courtesy of Ensign Esot. =/=
Kelor noticed Renaie’s enthusiasm. He allowed himself a slight smile as well, the situation was not as hopeless as he had thought. He suddenly thought of the two engineers he had met earlier, whom he had left working aboard the Ronin, and of the Ronin itself. oO I hope everything is fine up there… Oo
Kessler: =/= Two minutes and I am through. =/=
Esot: =/= I can complete my work once we're back on the shuttle. Or I can complete it here from this console, if need be. =/=
Tucker: Whatever floats your boat, ensign.
Shortrith: =/= Just keep in mind that the crawlspace can be damaged easily, even blaster fire can break through. =/=
Kelor began to feel the temperature rising again, but this time not because of the radiation. His mission was to retrieve Tucker’s team, and everything could collapse just as they were about to leave this damned moon...
Kessler: =/= Let's just make sure the Tholians get that memo as well. ::beat:: almost there. Ready gents?
Tucker: Let’s blow this taco stand.
Tucker’s team had managed to cut through the hatch on their side. Kelor quickened his pace and finally found the correct hatch configuration. After a few seconds navigating through LCARS, he successfully unlocked the transporter room hatch. oO I should have paid more attention in computer science classes...Oo
Zh'taan: =/= The hatch in our room is unlocked! =/=
Esot: Response
He hurried from his station to manually open the hatch.
Shortrith: =/= By an estimate, the crawlspace should be approximately 100 metres. From your location, it should be a five minute crawl. =/=
Reaching the hatch, he pulled on it with all his strength.
Esot: Response
Shortrith: =/= It's up to you, Sir. =/=
While trying to pull the hatch open, he took a brief moment to glance at his tricorder.
Zh'taan: I can see the team’s life signs in motion. They are on their way.
Kessler: Tholians approaching from above and below. Go, go....I have the rear. ::taping his coms:: =/= Shortrith, I hope you have that transporter working. We're about to have unwanted company and I can't set this explosive off in here without killing us too. =/=
Esot/Shortrith: Response
Kelor was reaching the end of his strength, and the hatch still had not moved.
Zh'taan: This damn hatch must not have been used in quite some time, I can’t get it open!
Esot/Shortrith: Response
Zh'taan: You’re right! ::He pulled out his phaser, set it to maximum power, and aimed at the side of the hatch to try to widen the opening.:: That did it!
He slipped his hand into the widened gap and, using all his physical strength, almost nonexistent for an Andorian but still sufficient, he managed to force the hatch open.
Tucker: Slap these on. This should help them lock us in if interference is going to be that much of a problem. =/= Esot, Shortrith, we have personal pattern enhancers on, so if you want to beam us out, go right ahead, because we’re about to engage a group of what we think are Tholians. I think if we get closer to the topside, I can have the Sojourn beam us back.=/=
Esot/Shortrith: Response
