Agatha allowed herself a moment to take a few breaths as the people in Ops snapped into action, each attending their duties with focus and poise even as the red mass of Alliance vessels bore down on them ceaselessly.  She caught a few people stealing glances at the display between updates to their own stations, as if unable to fully absorb the story being told there.

Hobart: ::tapping combadge:: =/\= Hobart to MacKenna, what’s going on up there? =/\=

Glancing over as she tapped at her console Agatha could hear the tension plainly in the mans voice.  She doubted any update he received would substantially improve his mood.

MacKenna: =/\= Alliance warships inbound. We have less than an hour. =/\=

Hobart: =/\= Understood. We’ll need every cubic meter we can find. Have Stergis lock down every freighter, shuttle, and luxury yacht dumb enough to still be in the system. ::snapping his fingers, struck by an idea:: Or greedy enough. Use my name. Hobart out. =/\=

Agatha's lips pressed together into a line as she shot a glance at the Khitomer's intelligence wonk.

Stergis: Don't worry Commander MacKenna, I'll have a discussion with Mr. Hobart about the command structure aboard this station if it's still here tomorrow.  Now what do you think he's getting at?

Agatha tapped a few commands into the holotable and brought up a the dockmasters manifest of vessels currently on the station or nearby.

Stergis:  Not seeing much here...a few courier vessels, one freighter that's in pieces for repairs and won't be spaceworthy for days and one private yacht.  I don't think they'd be any value to our defense force.

MacKenna: Lock down and use for defense, or evacuation?

Agatha let out a slow breath and forced herself to consider the possibility seriously.

Stergis: It won't improve our evac capacity much...but at this point I'll take whatever I can get.  I'm issuing the lockdown order now...::She chuckled in spite of their situation::...my therapist is going to be furious.  Although if I know the guy he'll figure out a way to profit from...

An unusual alert from Commander MacKenna's intel feeds interrupted them.  Agatha couldn't make sense of the decoding sequences MacKenna was using but for once appreciated that the woman was close at hand.

MacKenna: The Ronin and the Khitomer have figured it out and are on a reverse course, but it will take them some hours.

A humorless laugh escaped from her.  With the size of the force the Alliance had arriving in the next hour the Ronin & Khitomer might as well be back at Earth celebrating Frontier Day.

Stergis: Thank you, Commander.  Sounds like we're stuck with one another for the duration.  Were they able to pass along anything useful?

Back to the screens, Ash kept tapping away until she found something else.

MacKenna: Looks like they have some information about modifications that can help protect against the Sencha radiation. And updates on potential impacts on telepaths.

Agatha nodded and the information was transferred across to her console.  A quick skim was all she had time for but it was enough.

Stergis: Very well, I'll get Chief Vansen on these immediately.  I'll take any protection we can get.  Fortunately I don't think we've got many telepaths aboard...your Commander Nolen being one notable exception.  Maybe we should tell him to put a helmet on.

It was gallows humor but at the moment, it was all they had.

MacKenna:  Response

Things were in motion in Ops and for the moment, Agatha was at a locus of calm in the storm of activity around her.  Orders given, people in motion, the station's defense grid charging, she had a few quiet moments and a stray thought found its way to the surface.  She took a few steps closer to Commander MacKenna and pitched her voice lower.

Stergis:  For what it's worth, Commander, I wanted to apologize for the way I reacted when we first met.  You caught me on a bad day and while you were deeply annoying...you were only trying to help.  I'm sorry.

MacKenna:  Response

Agatha looked around and sighed, hands behind her back so she didn't show her nervous energy to the whole crew.

Stergis:  Lets just say I didn't want that on my conscience anymore and...::She nodded towards the tactical display::...this might be my last chance to clear the air.  You're a good officer, Ash...Captain Shayne is lucky to have you with him.  I just wanted you to know that in case...well...

MacKenna:  Response

Agatha straightened and gestured towards one of the Ops escape pods.

Stergis:  If things go bad I want you in that escape pod with the rest of the command crew.  There's going to be an empty seat in there anyway and you've got someone to get back to.  I'll stick around long enough to make certain the Alliance gets a warm welcome.  Do we understand one another, Commander, or do I need to make it an order?

MacKenna:  Response

With that small bit of business taken care of Agatha cleared her throat and spoke to the whole of the Ops center.

Stergis:  Alright people before it gets busy around here I want everyone to rotate off their stations, grab some food, hit the head and then open the nearest small arms locker.  Whatever the Alliance thinks...this is our station.  Lets remind them of that.  All hands...prepare to repel boarders.

MacKenna:  Response
