Vomek: Wait!

Vomek had seen a great many things in his time in Starfleet, but never an apoplectic nurse hurrying off the beach to assail an equally mercurial doctor.  It was strange to think that the idyllic beach which had recently been host to a deep cultural dialog was now about to break out in conflict.

Rox: ::yelling:: Hey Blodie!  If that's even your natural color.

De La Croix: Oh look everyone, it's one of the little people from the old ship I told you about!  Which one were you again?

Rox:  Yes, it's me, the "adequate strumpet?.  When are you getting the hell off our ship?

Vomek hurried to put himself between Rox and La Croix.  The Duchess seemed very annoyed and perhaps a little tipsy herself.

Vomek:  ::apologetically::  So sorry, she's had a tough day.

De La Croix: No no dear you've got it all wrong, I said you were an adequate nurse.  ::She took of a sip of her drink and savored it:: I'm sure you're an exemplary strumpet!

Vomek found himself hurled aside by Rox who stalked closer to De La Croix.

Rox:  ::growling at La Croix:: Leave the Ronin or I'll fracture your flipping fanny!

When Rox said "fracture", "flipping" and "fanny" Vomek felt a sort of coolness on his face as if there was a mist in the air.  He tried to move once more between them, but stopped when he noted the expression on each woman's face.

De La Croix: Oh aren't you delightfully feisty!  To answer your comedically phrased threat, I'd remind you that I'm aboard your ship entirely because of Beckie.  Take your complaints to him...or really, anywhere else dear.

Vomek:  ::taking hold of Rox's arm::  That's sage advice Dr. De La Croix. ::turning to Rox:: Shall we start filling out the forms?

Vomek said it with a hint of desperation, but Rox shook him off her arm sending him back into a nearby waiter.

Rox: ::emphatically:: I don't want you or Beck on the Ronin you cow!  You need to leave!

La Croix gave Rox a condescending  look and a titter of laughter left her.

De La Croix:  Or what, exactly?  Speak up dear.

Rox: AAAAGHH!

In a blur of movement Rox was gone from his side.  The whole scene became a whirling maelstrom of violence.  The waiter was trying to navigate away but found all his drinks removed from their tray and hurled in all directions.  Plates of food too began to tear through the air at alarming velocity.

Vomek was less interested in the blow by blow of things and more interested in the linguistics of it all.  Thessolonia was a Greek name derived from Thessaloniki a city in Greece and it meant something like "Victory of Thessaly".  The city in turn was named for Thessaloniki, wife of Cassander. Cassander was one of Alexander the Great's Diadochi who had, after the Macedonian king's death, murdered his wife.  In one of the weird twists of the universe, the wife's name was Roxanne.  Roxanne or Roxan was a Persian name and meant something like "Bright".  It was a strange battle in Vomek's mind. One that harkened back to ancient times.  Indeed, La Croix was a Duchess and Rox's family name was Queen.  It was a literal royal rumble, the Victorious Duchess vs. the Bright Queen.

The spectacle was quickly broken up by local security and Vomek wondered how many holovids had captured the event.  It certainly seemed like an ideal story for the Federation News Service, and Vomek wondered if Poagie would have any insight into other avenues with which to utilized recovered footage.

As Rox and La Croix were taken away, their wrists secured in handcuffs, Vomek grabbed another fritter from a passing waiter.  He noted the half dozen people still filming and after swallowing, hurried to approach them.
