Wren: Hang on, I know a trick, it’ll give us a couple seconds. ::pulling out a tricorder from her bag, fiddling with it a little:: Okay. Cover your ears and count to five

Delphina clapped her hands over her ears, watching as the Tholians shuddered backwards before she made her way out the door. She was still tripping over her own feet a bit, but this time she managed to stay upright instead of dragging someone down with her.

Rurat'dari: What was that?

Shortrith: I… I don't know, actually. But it may have worked.

O’Connor: ::looking at ‘dari but patting Wren on shoulder.:: Effective.

O’Connor: ::looking a T’Fearne:: See if you can get it to hold.

Delphina watched as T’Fearne sealed the door, turning around to see where they were. It was a significantly less dilapidated hallway that they’d come from. Actually, comparatively it looked almost normal. As though the radiation and temporal eddys hadn’t touched it at all.

T’Fearne: Seal engaged. It will be temporary. They are likely to make their way around.

Rurat'dari: ::about the Tholians:: I was hoping to avoid that.

O’Connor: We don’t always get what we want.

T'Fearne: Weapons interference looks environmental to me. Either radiation, temporal distortion… maybe both.

Wren: ::Tapping at her PADD:: It seems that the lingering radiation in that room overloaded our weapons’ power-cells. If you do a quick reset, it should go back to normal… Guess you just have to turn it on and off again?

Shortrith: ::slightly out of it:: Huh?

Rurat'dari: The Alliance knows you're here.

O’Connor: Yeah, and it won’t matter that we just want to help.

Delphina leaned against the wall, restarting her phaser quietly as they talked. oO We need to get out of here as soon as we can, but… doesn’t that include the Tholians? I mean, if we’re going to evacuate all the personnel, that includes them…. We’re including the Jem’Hadar, aren’t we? Oo

T'Fearne: If this is a secret Lattice Alliance controlled facility…that would explain the presence of Tholians, actually…::looking young, but determined:: speed has become a priority. I recommend we grab any remaining personnel on our way out before this becomes a containment situation.

Shortrith: ::Grimacing, slightly sarcastic:: Lovely.

Rurat'dari: What's your next move?

O'Connor: There is still another technician near here. Definitely Bajoran life sign. We’d have to get past those Tholians though. Ideas?

T'Fearne: We do what the Tholians are likely doing. We take an alternate route. ::pointing at the wall:: Structural crawlspaces or maintenance conduits. My current… reduced stature may actually be advantageous.

Wren: A structural crawlspace might be our best bet here. There’s more room, meaning the Tholians would be able to follow us if they know we’re there, but it would allow us a little more space to get out of the way if an eddy comes through. ::walking over and rapping up and down on the nearest wall a few times, moving a little further down the hall::...... Here, this looks like a storage hatch. If we take out the inner wall, we should be able to get into the crawlspace. Though the interior might be damaged.

Shortrith/Rurat'dari: Response

O’Connor: Maybe, that’s a lot of crawling through rubble though.::to Shortrith:: You gonna be able to? or do you need to head back to the Creche? It’s ok either way.

Wren: It’ll be a bit of a tight fit, but if one of us goes in front and clears any debris and rubble, it shouldn’t be too bad… oO Those water pipes can probably be cut without issue now… Oo

Not that she relished being in such a small space with the Jem’Hadar. She hadn’t entirely been able to forget the soldier’s presence, and now that the danger had passed for now, it was even harder to ignore.

Shortrith/Rurat'dari: Response

O’Connor: All right then. :: points forward with the mop:: Let’s go.

Delphina helped pull the hatch open, revealing a dark, dusty space inside. Poking her head inside, she turned on her flashlight, frowning at the narrow interior, oO Not too bad… better than I was expecting, but we should still keep an eye on Shortrith… maybe have them go in the middle.Oo

T'Fearne: ::swallowing:: I’ll take the forward defencive position.

Wren: ::stepping back to let her through:: Careful, there might be some loose pieces of metal in there. I’ll keep an eye on the Bajoran life-sign.

((Crawl Space, The Lid, Moon Sigma in orbit of Gas Giant A, Ross 580 System))

As Delphina climbed into the hatch with the others, she wasn’t able to shake the memory of when she’d first been in a maintenance crawlspace of an actual ship. This was different, dirtier and dustier, but the small space felt familiar. Almost pleasant in its own way. When she’d been seven, she and a friend had climbed into the ship of a visiting merchant, somehow finding their way into the crawlspace. They’d pretended to be rabbits, climbing through their burrow to stay safe from wolves, and the sound of the ship’s gentle vibrations coupled with the warmth of the engines had been as soothing as a heartbeat.

oO Although, the two of us did fall asleep, and the ship did almost take off with you inside. I don’t think my mother let me leave the house for a month after that. Oo

Wren: ::pausing at a small collection of wires::.... This looks like a lighting system. Hang on, I can give us ::fiddles with it until the lights dimly turn on:... there we go.

Shortrith/Rurat'dari/O’Connor: Response

T'Fearne: Commander? If another temporal shear hits…::beat:: Please try to avoid it. I draw the line at taking orders from someone in an infant waste-containment garment.

Wren: ::Trying not to laugh:: What about a geriatric patient?

Shortrith/Rurat'dari/O’Connor: Response

They came to a fault in the crawlspace. A rent in the tunnel that faint light filtered through. Wren coiled herself up in a slightly fetal position to rest her arms for a moment, bending her neck awkwardly to look ahead.

T'Fearne: ::whispering:: The tunnel ahead appears structurally compromised. Turn off your lights and go very slow and quiet.

Wren: ::uncoiling herself:: This damage looks new, there’s no rust or ageing on the metal that I can see, though I’m without a tricorder at the moment.

T'Fearne/Shortrith/Rurat'dari/O’Connor: Response

Delphina followed the group, pausing to rest a fingertip against what looked like a sheared piece of rebar. It was warm… oO What do we remember about Tholians? Mom and mother never treated one, but their technology… Oo

Wren: Drones. The Tholians have drones that can cut through metal-

The words had barely left her mouth before something sounded behind them. Delphina managed to look down the line to see the stone ceiling about ten feet behind them crack, then start to crumble as a phaser blast punched through it.

T'Fearne/Shortrith/Rurat'dari/O’Connor: Response

Wren: ::trying not to panic:: Keep moving! ::struggling to take out her PADD:: I need a way to mask our bio-signatures, but it’ll take about five minutes!

T'Fearne/Shortrith/Rurat'dari/O’Connor:

Wren: ::Curse word that is redacted by the translator:: oO Can't believe that's still on.... Oo

T'Fearne/Shortrith/Rurat'dari/O’Connor: Response
