to USS Ronin

((Deck 09, Shuttlebay 01, USS Ronin))

Wren: ::laughing a little:: Understood, I’ll make sure that’s brought aboard.

Kel:  Excellent, shall we head out?

Kessler/O'Connor: response

Wren was in the middle of stepping on-board the shuttle when she heard a comm-badge activate. Curious, she turned to see it had come from Shortrith oO Why would someone be calling right now? Oo

De La Croix: =/\= Sickbay to Doctor...Shortbread. This is Doctor Thessolonia De La Croix. It seems you've forgotten to check in with me. =/\=

oO I AM NOT BREAD, YOU BLOODY SOURDOUGH HOT CROSS BUN. Oo

Delphina couldn’t help but flinch at the volume of the klingon’s thought, and she immediately ducked into the shuttle, seating herself to try and get away from all that oO….. Ow Oo. She could still hear the doctor talking, but it was slightly muted now, and their thoughts seemed to have quieted, though it still felt as though the doctor had shouted directly into Delphina’s ear. Now that she’d put some distance between herself and Shortrith, she suddenly realized where she’d heard that voice before, oO Oh… okay it’s the coffee woman. I’m surprised she feels comfortable talking to a commanding officer like that. Oo

Shortrith: =/\= It's Doctor Shortrith, and I set up a meeting to check in with you when you first joined the ship. It should have shown up in your notes. =/\=

Kel: ::raising hand::  Let the doctor deal with her staff.  We can start the preflight checks.

Kessler: Response

Wren: Yessir, I’ll start running a pre-takeoff diagnostic.

Delphina glanced over her shoulder, frowning a bit as she realized the coffee woman was still speaking through the comms. oO What did she say her name was? Thessolonia De La Croix…. Why does that name sound familiar…?..... Oh! Oh my god, she’s that Silver-Spooner surgeon that Fraslil was complaining about last week, I should have recognized the name. Oo

De La Croix: =/\= Well try to be a bit more interesting next time and I just might be able to remember it. So what's all this nonsense with the lights? The candy striper you have working down here doesn't know a thing. =/\=

Shortrith: =/\= We're at yellow alert. There is some temporal stuff happening and the usual captain and first officer are dead. ::coldly:: And don't you dare speak about any of the medical staff like that again.=/\=

Shortrith: =/\= Actually, please meet me in shuttle bay 1. We're going on an expedition and I think your assistance would be appreciated. =/\=

Wren: Wait, what? ::poking her head out of the shuttle:: What??

O’Connor: ::Ian went wide eyed and mouthed  at Jack and Kel:: Who the heck is this woman?

Kel: I believe that is our new Chief Surgeon.

Kessler: Response

Wren: oO Oh my god, I cannot be in this ship with her, I have had my fill of arrogant doctors who think they’re the only person to ever save a life.…..well that’s an unkind thought. Deep breaths. She’s not Modren. Maybe she’s just…… very hard to talk to over the comms. Oo ::desperately trying to stay casual:: Oh, she’s coming with us??

Kessler/Kel/O'Conner: Response

De La Croix: =/\= Me, on a ship even smaller than this one? I hardly realized such a thing existed. What am I to do, nurse an amoeba back to health? =/\=

Shortrith: =/\= We're conducting scans on the temporal anomaly with a finer-toothed comb than what the probes conduct. ::to Kessler and Kel, still on comms:: I've got that right, yes? =/\=

V'Len tapped his comm badge.

Kel: =/\= Quite right Dr. Shortrith.  We'll warm up a seat for you Dr. La Croix.  Shuttle bay 1.  =/\=

Delphina pulled herself back into the shuttle, dropping onto the chair with a little huff. She could do this. oO This is Starfleet. Don’t make your issues their problem. If Dr. La Croix is coming, then just keep doing your job to the best of your ability…… gods, I hope she doesn’t know anyone in my family. Oo

Wren: ::Poking her head out again:: Just want to clarify, she’s coming too?

Kessler/O'Connor/De La Croix: Response

Shortrith: =/\= I don't care, Doc. Get to shuttle bay 1 as soon as possible. Shortrith out. =/\=

Well, it definitely seemed that she was coming. Delphina finished up with her diagnostic, nodding a little as she saw everything come up online.

Kel:  Shall we?

Wren: Everything looks good to go on my end.

Kessler/O'Connor/De La Croix: Response

The group clambered into the shuttle and V'Len. Took a seat in one of the auxiliary stations.  He set it up so that data would feed in from the science sensors.

Shortrith: Well, it looks like we have a volunteer for the trip.

Kel: ::turning to Shortrith::  Well done doctor.  You handled your subordinate very well. If they get to be too much, let me know.  I'm sure Jack can be of assistance.

Kessler/O'Connor: Response

Wren: oO Or I could transport a Cardassian Vole directly into her quarters…. A mating pair if she really riles someone… Oo

Delphina took the opportunity to look at the ship’s specs, turning her attention and interest to the shuttle itself. When she’d been at the academy, she’d often felt that shuttles and runabouts didn’t get enough love when compared to Starships. Sure, the ships were big and arguably more important, but nothing would get done without the help of these little guys.

Kel:  Are we ready? I'll give La Croix another 90 seconds and then we need to go.

De La Croix/Shortrith/Kessler/O'Connor/: Response

Wren: I mean, if we’re ready to go, we can just-

But any hope for escaping the ship without Dr. De La Croix aboard was immediately dashed as the doctor burst into the shuttle, and Delphina immediately turned slightly so she didn’t have to look at her. It was the first time that Delphina had actually seen her, even if briefly, as she’d spent most of the last few weeks making an overt effort to avoid sick-bay in general.

Kel:  Take a seat Doctor.  We're just about ready to depart.

De La Croix/Shortrith/Kessler/O'Connor: Response

Wren: ::as genuinely as she can:: Welcome aboard.

((Main Cabin, USS Sojourn))

The shuttle gave a small shiver as it lifted off of its docking clamp, and Delphina glanced out the window, smiling a little as they exited the Ronin into outer space. Small chirps filled the cabin, and Wren gave a cursory glance over their shielding and heading, both of which were holding steady.

Kel:  Doctors.  See what you can see as far as life readings on those interior planets

De La Croix/Shortrith/Kessler/O'Connor/: Response

oO Planets? Oh…. Oo Wren glanced up from her console, surprised to see that there were several planets nearby. It hadn’t even occurred to her to look, but now that she was, it was surprisingly nice, looking down on them. oO Makes me think of that trip to Corning I took in my first year where we saw all that blown glass. I think I still have that snail that woman made for me…. Oo

Kel:  ::pleased::  The gas giants are very colorful.

Privately, Delphina agreed. The gas giants were beautiful, and she was happy to see one of them had a storm on its surface that resembled an antique glass eye that she kept in her quarters, but she kept that to herself. oO Never bring up the glass eye. Or that vase with like thirty faces on it. Honestly, the less people know about your taste in decor, the better. Oo

De La Croix/Shortrith/Kessler/O'Connor: Response

Kel: ::smiling:: I'm always like this, all the time.

Delphina maintained the systems, adjusting as necessary as they went, watching the Chronitons slowly ebb away as they moved through space. She was just starting to relax, when the lights suddenly flared to life, washing the entire interior of the shuttle in red. Startled, Wren straightened up, instinctively looking at her monitor to make sure everything was alright.

Kel:  What the…I'm picking up a massive burst of ultra-high energy gamma rays coming from the gas giant closest to the Ross-580 star.

Wren: Shielding is at seventy percent, but it’s dropping rapidly. oO Did he say from the gas giant? Why not from the star itself-No! Oo

Kel/De La Croix/Shortrith/Kessler/O'Connor: Response

Wren: Sir, we seem to be receiving damage to our engine. Scans are unclear on whether it’s from the radiation, our shields are dropping. If we move back, we might be out of range, but we’d be back in the eddy.

Kel/De La Croix/Shortrith/Kessler/O'Connor: Response

Delphina ran another quick scan, eyes widening. Where was it coming from? She couldn’t detect any sort of weapon that would be firing the radiation at them, but that didn’t mean there wasn’t one there. But she was immediately distracted as her module flared red.

Wren: ::strained:: We’ve lost partial thrust from our engine, we’re going to start listing to the side. I can try and go fix it ::grabbing her kit::, but it might take a minute, I'll have a better idea of what we're dealing with if I go look at the engine itself.

Kel/De La Croix/Shortrith/Kessler/O'Connor: Response
