to USS Ronin
((Ready Room, Deck 3, USS Ronin, Ross-580 Gas Giant A, Moon Sigma))

From the back of the room, Marty watched Kel at the monitor. His arms were crossed, and he was leaning back against a console, his legs crossed. What they were looking at was the Ross-580, and more importantly, a moon, a gas giant. Due to massive gamma radiation, they had to approach the moon cautiously, for fear of an emission of gamma radiation that would most likely harm the Ronin in ways they really didn’t want to imagine.

On the surface of the moon, there were two weird domes about 200km apart from each other. One was damaged beyond repair and glowing with gamma radiation. Making it stand out like a beacon, not unlike a welcome sign.

oO Yeah, welcome to hell… Oo

The other dome seemed fine and was a habitat space, for what they weren’t quite sure. Most likely, people and equipment for whatever they were up to down there.

Kel:  The computer still can't make heads or tails of what's going on down there, but our new friends in sickbay have a significant amount of cellular damage. Whatever they were doing, I think they may have lost control.

Marty uncrossed his arms and stood up, taking a stride towards the conference table at the other end, opposite Kel. Something was afoot, and they needed to figure out what the hell was going on, why their captain and XO had blown up, and whether it was ours.

Tucker: Honestly, Skip, I have more questions than answers at this point. I mean, we have mounds of data, but no time to peruse it all.

Kel:  We need to figure out what's going on down there.  Vomek made contact with their administrative center, I'll beam to the undamaged dome and try to figure out what they've been doing.  Mr. O'Connor I'd like you to take T'Fearne, Wren, and Shortrith to find and aid any injured parties.  Mr. Tucker, I'd like you to take Kessler, Evinrude and Nemes to assess what exactly they've put together over there, and how we can shut it down.  I've asked Counselor Dekas see what information he can glean from our guests in sickbay.

Marty nodded. It was a solid team, though he had yet to really work with the Ronin’s new Security Chief. Kirsty had been gone a while now, and he missed the corn-fed down-home girl that Kirsty was, not to mention she was a hell of a security chief.

O'Connor:  ::nods then looks at Tuck:: I think we should take two Runabouts down. Scans show some pockets of major radiation that we probably can’t beam through. We can also use one as a triage center, and we’d have more room for anyone we’re evacuating. Zambezi and Sojourn are currently prepped in the rotation.

Tucker: Sounds like a plan, time for a field trip!

Kel:  Amongst the data transmitted from the Kurosawa before it exploded was a large amount of data about Sencha radiation.   I don't need to tell you how dangerous that could make this situation.

Marty rubbed his hand down his face. Sencha radiation was something they’d worked against before, nasty, nasty stuff. The most knowledgeable people on the subject were currently somewhere in the time space continuum, the other on Vulcan. Neither was going to help. Marty knew some of the nuts and bolts, but far less than the aforementioned Captain and Vulcan.

oO We really could use Alieth or the Skipper, damn… Oo

O'Connor: :sighs:: Obviously it’s not the first or last science experiment gone awry that Starfleet’s needed to deal with. Why do these guys always seem to wanna screw with time though?

Tucker: ::looking at O’Connor:: Well, it’s probably for personal reasons, like money, revenge, or to undo a major wrong. ::he shrugged, arms out::

Kel:  I'm confident a lot of what we've experienced could be explained if these people are messing with Sencha Radiation.  ::taking a deep breath::  The situation could also get a whole lot worse.

O'Connor: :: he smiled at V’Len:: Relax, mom. When are we never not super careful? :: his facade dropped:: Seriously, you’ve given us good teams. They’ll keep the two of us from doing something totally stupid.

Marty chuckled and raised an eyebrow.

Tucker:  When have we ever done anythi–….::waving a hand:: yeah, yeah,  I don’t want to hear it.

The Trildorian stood, so did Marty.

Kel: Make sure you're all wearing Hazardous Duty Environmental Suits. There could be significant health hazards.  Keep an eye on radiation levels.

O'Connor: :: Ian clapped Kel on the shoulder on his way by:: Aye, Captain.

Marty crossed his arms and raised an eyebrow at the acting Captain.

Tucker: At least I’ll know where you are this time. ::he gave a half smile.::

The Skipper stepped out of the ready room, tapped his combadge, then stepped onto the bridge. Ian brought Marty’s attention to the task at hand.

O'Connor: I’ll put down here :: points to a larger structure:: Seems to be a communal space like a mess hall. Good gathering place to work out from. :: points again:: This building seems to be the main research facility. If you put down there, we’re only about a quarter mile apart.

Marty took a scan of the possibly POIs down on the surface. He liked where O’Connor’s head was at, but he was looking for something closer to engineering or what passes for it. That’s when he found a small building outside the dome, actually attached just outside. He also took into account the amount of gamma radiation, which was lower near that area, though it was still high.

Tucker: ::pointing:: I’m going to set down right there, it might be a power station, if so, I can figure out where the guts of the thing are and see if we can stop the radiation.

O’Connor: Sounds good.

He stepped aside from Tuck and tapped at his comm badge.

((OOC: Tuck isn’t listening to O’Connor at this point))

Marty checked the area again; they would need to land roughly five klicks south of the dome and walk in. There was a clearing where the terrain was less rugged, though it was scattered with large rocks and similar obstacles, but no climbing gear would be necessary.

Marty reached and touched his combadge.

Tucker: =/\= Greetings, Ronin’s will Lieutenants Kessler, Nemes, and Evinrud,e please report to the Runabout Sojourn immediately and bring your Hazardous Duty Environmental Suits, please. Tucker, out =/\=

Marty strode out of the ready room and onto the bridge before slipping into one of the turbolifts next to the main view screen.

Tucker: Computer, flight deck.
