((Corridor between Sickbay and Counselling Suites, Deck 10, USS Ronin))

Alira strode confidently toward the counseling suites. For some reason that she didn’t understand, many officers seemed reluctant to talk to a counselor, but not her. She understood that everyone needed an ear to lean on sometime. Especially Starfleet officers aboard a starship who often went weeks or months without any contact with people not on the ship. And after what had happened on the mission, Alira definitely needed to talk to someone.

She rounded the bend and found the Counselor waiting for her. She smiled and nodded politely.

Shortrith: Hey! Welcome in!

Venn: Thank you for taking the time to see me, Counselor. I am sure you have a busy schedule.

They approached the doors to the suites and they slid open just in time to let the pair through. Since it was their domain, she let the Counselor precede her.

Shortrith: If you'll follow me to the first room on the left, go take a seat - feel free to use the replicator if you wish.

Venn: Thank you. I think I just want a glass of water.

She quickly ordered the water then took the seat indicated.

Shortrith: How are you doing? Are you settling in alright on the Ronin?

Venn: So far. But I’m not going to beat around the bush, Counselor. I’m apprehensive. Captain Niac has offered me a permanent spot here, and I am grateful since I am almost certain that Captain Anderson is going to kick me out of Intel when he gets my report. :: she paused a moment to take a sip of the ice cold water and gain her composure a bit. The idea still bothered her some, but she was more bothered by the situation on the ship :: I’m still trying to adjust to that, but I’m also concerned about how I am going to fit in here. My start was less than auspicious.

Shortrith: Response

She considered for a moment before responding.

Venn: My decision to promote the idea to terminate Narhelion should it become necessary didn’t sit well with many of the senior officers. And some let me know that they had concerns about me because of my association with Intelligence. A couple of people have offered a gesture of peace, even friendship in one case. And, of course, the Captain offered me a spot here. But how many more still distrust me? It bothers me more than I care to admit.

Shortrith: Response

Venn: One thing at a time, Counselor, but I also want to mention that I am having some concerns about my telepathy after linking with Narhelion.

Shortrith: Response

She took a deep breath and braced herself before making the admission.

Venn: I’m afraid to use it now.

Shortrith: Response
