Evinrude: I hope the other team doesn't run into them... ::He replied, moving towards a bank of control panels.::

Marty and Jack exchanged glances. He and Jack were, for the most part, the only ones on the ground who had dealt with Tholians in combat.

Kessler: I'd feel much better if we were all together.

Marty nodded.

Tucker: Agreed, we need to stick together. The last thing we need to do is split up, power in numbers.

Kessler turned from Marty and stepped over a working Evinrude. This gained his attention, so he turned to look at the same monitor Jack was looking at. There was an error, which showed that it was six years ago that the equipment had gone from bad to worse. It was looking at nightmare of wiring and scaffolding surrounding the pump itself.

Evinrude: ::Dryly.:: Either they just let their sensitive equipment run with outdated system clocks, or this is the terminal that experienced a temporal glitch. ::He turned back to look at Tucker.:: I could use a hand, sir...not sure exactly how to restart this system so it can accept Esot's patch.

While the Ops officer was poking around, Marty noticed Kessler had started to take more stock in the room they were in. He too started to take a look around. Everything had a hint of green, like the Romulans had done the interior decorating. Everything always had a green tint to it, Marty thought they could use some more color, so they didn’t look like they were in a constant state of sickness.

Kessler: Behind this shielded door seems to be a larger power source and a ::beat:: distortion field.

Tucker: A distortion field? Normally, I’d say, are you sure? But in this place, it’s probably the norm. With the Tholians involved I’d bet dollars to doughnuts the Alliance is elbows deep in this. Now all we need is the Sheliak to show up, and it’s a frickn’ party.

Marty kept an eye on Kessler while keeping an eye on Evinrude. Soon, Jack came to Marty’s side after doing his scans.

Kessler: Commander ::beat:: once Esot's patch is in place, how are we going to defend this area from the Tholians? ::looking around:: There are not a lot of safe places in here to take cover from weapons fire.

Marty looked around, the Chief of Security was right, not a lot of defensible positions. He put his hands on his hips and looked around. He’d really like to see what was behind door number one.

Tucker: Maybe we need to scrounge whatever we can, to build cover? Maybe some of this scaffolding? We’ll need to watch both doors, cause someones got the key the closed one, and we don’t need anyone coming in that direction either.

Evinrude: response

Shortrith/Zh'taan/Esot: =/\= Response, optional =/\=

The Ronin’s Chief Engineer looked toward the larger heavy doors, which were most likely sealed. Which could prevent people from coming in, but if they know how to work the controls, not so much. But it was most likely a risk they’d have to take. It would be nice to have that team that’s coming to look for them already there as backup. The radiation was getting worse, and the leak was more like a spigot for Sencha radiation. Which was the last time Marty checked? That wasn’t good, especially with everything else going on in the system.

Kessler: This is a sealed hatchway back there. Looks like it's a small crawl way maybe but the doors are welded shut.

Tucker: I’m not sure we have time for that, it’s sealed, and we’d most likely have to blow a hole in it, though you could give it a go with a phaser pistol, maybe use that as a plan B?

Evinrude: response

Shortrith/Zh'taan/Esot: =/\= Response, optional =/\=

Kessler turned to Evinrude, plucked a powercell off his belt, and handed it to the Operations Officer.

Kessler: My backup phaser power cell. It's all I have so go easy on that. If we get into a firefight with the Tholians, you're going to want every shot possible.

Marty double checed his own power cell and his back up on his belt, and he hoped that he wouldn’t have to use it, but would if necessary, They needed to set up at couple of defense points, but with only three of them, and two of them with the know how, left Jack watching their backs, it wasn’t ideal, but thats what they had to work with.

He turned to Jack.

Tucker:  Alright chief, were do you want to set up, while Tess and I work on this pump, before things get really out of control.. ::he rolled his eyes:: How goes it, Tess?

Marty knelt where Evinrude looked like he wanted to crack the thing open like a coconut, and Marty couldn’t blame him. Just looking around, he could tell just how outdated some of the stuff in the room with them, some he’d swear was older than he was, but at least 80 years.

Evinrude: response

Shortrith: =/\= Shortrith to Tucker. We're in a transporter room about one level above you. Any way you can get up here? =/\=

Tucker: Good to hear your voice, Ensign. We’re kinda in the middle of something at the moment. We’re trying to get this damn pump fixed, but we could use some backup. Can you come down here?

Leaving a project unfinished was not on Marty’s bingo card. Somethings weren’t adding up, and Marty wasn’t a fan. They were pretty sure this was an Alliance station; hell, he wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t have a ship in the system already giving the Ronin hell. So much intrigue, it didn’t surprise him that Romulans were involved. To say Marty wasn’t a fan would have been the understatement of the century.

There was zero love lost.

Tucker: Hey, we gotta make sure nothing ex—--

Marty was rudley interrupted by a loud BOOM! A explosion rocked what he assumed was the reactor. It rained debris down on the three of them. Marty did a quick assessment of everyone and they looked fine, but looks could be deceiving.

Tucker: Roll call!

Kessler/Evinrude: Response

Marty immediately checked his suit and ran a diagnostic. Everything seemed in working order, except for the small fact that they were so irradiated at this point, they could probably glow like those breakable light sticks they have in the survival packs.

Tucker: As long as no one's suits are torn, we can’t lose anyone now.

Kessler/Evinrude: Response

Instead of pacing like he wanted to do, he found a console, brushed the debris off, and tried to make heads or tails of it. It was Romulan in design, and while he was fluent in Vulcan, it didn’t help with trying to translate Romulan, so he’d have to wing it.

Tucker: From what I can make out, as my Romulan is damn rusty, is that the heatsink is out of alignment, which has thrown the whole thing out of alignment, so it did the only thing it could. It shut down; now we just need to figure out how to restart it. I’m open to suggestions.

Kessler/Evinrude: Response

It was then that Marty noticed that the commline had disconnected. He was pretty sure the radiation and damping fields in place around the complex were already hindering things, but the explosion near the reactor might have really thrown things off.

His hands danced over the Romulans' version of LCARS; he was starting to figure things out bit by bit. To the point he’d found something interesting.

Tucker: Hey, Evinrude, check this out, there’s at least three eps conduits offline, and see here ::pointing a small schematic:: this ODN conduit is offline, so the information from these fossils isn’t reaching their intended destination, which was what was throwing the massive pump for a whirl.

Kessler/Evinrude: Response
