((Shuttlecraft Olmec, approaching Slalom course))
The course control technician signaled that they were cleared to go.
Vomek eased himself into the pilot seat. They had clearance to move out and Vomek did one last check the shuttles before opening up the engines to half impulse.
Vomek: Here we go!
The Olmec surged ahead and twisted around two large bodies of floating rock before pitching up through a tunnel which swung right and then left through a large asteroid.
Poagie: All seems good.
Gooba Jean: =/\= Nice get go. Now let’s pick up some speed. =/\=
Vomek: Alright.
He opened the throttle more as the shuttle exited the asteroid at 3/4 impulse. Vomek guided them over, under and around a series of 12 asteroids and then turned the shuttle into a narrow channel between two planetary rings. On either side glittering fields of ice flew past them. Gooba Jean leaned in and out of turns with ease at times only holding the tow rope with one hand.
Gooba Jean: =/\= Enough of the Sunday drivin’ granny. Pump up the speed. =/\=
Poagie: Um, maybe let’s get through the course once before we…
Vomek gritted his teeth, but pushed the shuttle to full impulse. Several artificial rings came toward them rapidly and Vomek strained at the controls to push the shuttle through them without getting Gooba Jean too near them.
Vomek: How do her arms not come off?
Really the greater question was how the small covering she wore managed to stay in place.
Gooba Jean: =/\=You can swing me out farther. Tighten up the turns. =/\=
Poagie: Really, it’s okay not to. We’re not even to…
The Olmec rolled out of the loops and pitched down toward a long lunar canyon. One of the skis materialized back in the shuttle as Gooba Jean transitioned to skiing on just one.
Poagie: Nevermind
Vomek: I should have made her sign a waiver.
Poagie: It wouldn’t matter, Ferengi courts wouldn’t accept it anyway. I’d get her inheritance and rights to sue you for all you got regardless.
Gooba Jean: =/\= That’s enough of that Po-Po, ain’t nothin’ gonna happen to…=/\=
She stopped mid sentence as a ship popped out from a lunar rock formation below them and a transporter beam enveloped her.
Poagie: Hey, Wha…Who?... Where did that come from?
Vomek: Response
Alarms blared through the cabin. The vessel veered farther down and began angling into the canyon picking up speed. Poagie started to frantically tap at controls.
Poagie: They can’t do that! That’s my sister!
Vomek: Response
The vessel began to shimmer and disappear as if a cloak was activating very slowly.
Poagie turned with pleading eyes to Vomek.
Poagie: Do something!
Vomek: Response
