[BACKSIM]
((Engineering Warp Core- Upper Level, Deck 12, USS Ronin))
Exxonna: Any ideas on when our next mission might be yet, sir?
Tucker: ::he snorted:: Anything outside dealing with another plague is just fine by me, Ensign. Just another day in the fleet.::he laughed:: Not ready for leave to end?
She laughed at that.
Exxonna: No, don’t get me wrong, Commander, I’ve enjoyed a few spa treatments but I’m looking forward to getting back out among the stars.
He nodded sagely. Marty, too, wanted to get back out among the stars and do what everyone on this ship had signed up to do: explore. What he wouldn’t give to just go track some sort of solar storm or scan a subpace eddy, find a new nebula.
Tucker: ::slight sigh:: Me to, Ensign me too. Don’t get me wrong, this shore leave has had its fun, but now it’s time to get back to work and do what we do best.
Exxonna: Aye sir. I know it’s not my specialty, I’d like to help out with the hardware updates to the transporters. I know that’s one of the next few things on the ::makes air quotes:: “list.” I actually enjoy being busy.
Tucker: I hear that, and while I have you. I encourage all my engineers to take on side projects, which helps them focus on something other than (beat) say, the ship's intermix ratio. I'm sure you’ve heard about Morgan and Cabrillo working on the spiderbot?
Exxonna: Yes, sir. Have they made much progress?
Tucker: Most of their work is classified, but once we learned out these things tick, we should be able to find a way to combat them in the future, because I have no doubt they’ll try again.
Exxonna: Hope not but certainly any intel is better than none. ::she gave another smile trying to stay optimistic:: As to what you said about side projects, there are certainly a few things I’d love to tinker on. I’ve been playing around with some ideas about propulsion on some of the smaller craft, Valkries and Type 9s. I want to run those by Major Singh and Lt. Cmdr. O’Connor when they have time. ::she looked up:: Oh, and of course you.
Tucker: Response
Exxonna: Great, thank you. I’ll contact them both and get on their schedules.
Tucker: Response
Exxonna: No I won’t forget you. I’ll forward you the schematics and design notes when I finish up my manual checks here. ::she tilted her head:: I love your feedback just don’t judge too hard…most of it is still in pretty preliminary stages.
Tucker: Response
She smiled yet again and turned away to continue her work monitoring the warp systems. She almost couldn't hold back a giddy giggle and keep her steps from bouncing.
