((Deck 14, Brew Continuum, USS Ronin))
Wren: ::clearly trying to move away from the topic:: As for the mission itself, I feel everyone did their jobs quite well. Although some work definitely needs to be done in regards to our communicators. There was a point when I was on an away team where we lost comms for a good long time because of the radiation.
Tucker: The things that Sencha radiation messes with are a long list; subspace distortions are part of it. Though I’m sure we could come up with some sort of booster we could install.
Delphina sat back in thought, frowning as she mentally tried to run through anything that might work. The truth was, the communication booster would only be part of it. A problem that Delphina had often run into when working on projects was that her ideas were implausible simply because the technology required to make it work didn’t exist yet. Which would normally mean that she should start with creating the required technology, but then that technology didn’t exist yet, or was still too complex and needed to be broken down further. Sometimes it felt as though the end result she wanted was so far away she’d never reach it in her lifetime.
It wasn’t enough to just want to make a highly mobile shield system that didn’t use energy drawn from the ship, oh no. First she had to make Remy, then she had to scale him down repeatedly while losing none of his function, then she had to make the Hive, then she had to make them able to work in tandem, then she could start on allowing them to scan, and it just went on. She was impatient, she always had been. But after experiencing Sencha radiation for herself…. Now it wasn’t just that she wanted to make a more versatile shielding system, she wanted to create something that would ensure no one would ever feel anything like that.
As she pulled herself back out of her web of thought, she noticed Tucker was holding something out to her.
Wren: What’s this? ::taking the PADD::
Tucker: Oh, that. It’s a few things I’d like you to work on, now that I know you have leave, and that's fine. As long as these tasks are finished by the time we pull out of here.
Marty drank down the rest of his raktajino.
Wren: :: visibly perking up, stewing thoughts now on the backburner:: Oh, of course. I can probably get some of these done today.
Tucker: They’re pretty easy, really. I’d like you to team up with Mister Evinrude in Ops to help you. There seems to be an issue with the gel packs on decks 10 and 11, so it’s messing things up on a medical and security level. There’s also a replicator issue on deck eight, in the port observation lounge.
Wren: ::nodding:: Oh, right I heard about the gel packs. ::sipping her tea:: De La Croix had a lot to say about that, but it should be an easy fix ::realizing she might have to go through sick bay::
Familiar discomfort crawled over her at the thought of it. She’d spent most of her childhood in a clinic, and once her telepathy had developed it had been… stressful. She still remembered the first time she’d felt someone die. oO Well…. It’s not like anyone’s dying in there right now as far as I know. And I think most of the medical staff is out. If I go and try to take care of it now, then maybe it’ll be empty… Oo
Tucker: Questions, comments, or concerns?
Wren: Nothing to do with this list, I can get that taken care of ASAP. ::beat:: By the way, I heard you were also going to the Celestial Tide sanctuary as well. Could I ask you a favor?
Tucker: Response
Wren: ::in a rush:: I’m meeting with a Ferengi merchant down on the surface. I’ve been looking for a music box made by a Pah Wraith cultist back on Bajor, and he claims that he has one, but I was wondering if you could come with me to check it out? If it’s a fake, I don’t want to be talked into buying it.
Tucker: Response
Wren: ::a little embarrassed:: Oh, no I don’t believe in that kind of thing. If I were a Pah Wraith, I think I’d have better things to do than haunt a music box. I want it because it was made by Melnor Van, he was one of the last Bajorans who specialized in miniature automatons. His music boxes are designed to tell Bajoran fables through mechanization and shadowplay, all without an external power source… oO I’m babbling… Oo ::very uncomfortable. They’re… hard to find, since they’re banned on Bajor….
Tucker: Response
