((Inside a hallway within The Lid on Moon Sigma, Ross-580 Gas Giant A))
Farther back toward where they’d come from a back lit shape caught his eye. It had just skittered out of a side room and came to a dead stop right in their path back as it noticed them.
Ian shined a beam light in its direction to see a bit better.
O’Connor: Oh, hey there little guy.
As Ian reached out forward, the baby Tholian reared back, made an incomprehensible shrill sound and leapt forward.
oO Oh, shi…Oo
T’Fearne: Response
Ian felt like he’d been hit in the chest with a bowling ball and collapsed backward with the Tholian tyke landing atop him.
O’Connor: Ahhh,Get it offf…Get it off me
He imagined he was flailing like an idiot but it seemed effective and the Tholian fell off while Ian rolled the other way.
T’Fearne stepped in front of Ian and he couldn’t see what happened but whatever she did. The little crystal ball was now calmed.
T’Fearne: Response
O’Connor: ::straightens himself up and tries to restore a slight sense of dignity:: Uhhh, thanks.
T’Fearne: Response
O’Connor: I don’t know. I guess, let’s take it back to the nursery room
((Back in the “Daycare” room))
Delphina glanced up as younger versions of T’Fearne and O’Connor entered the room.
Shortrith: I heard non-human footsteps… What happened?
Wren:........ oO Okay you have to say something, you’re acting incredibly unprofessional right now. This is a set-back, just….be casual about this Oo……. ::as non-casually as possible:: Did you guys find anything interesting?
O’Connor: Nothing much, Just a de-aging wave and this…
T'Fearne: Response
Delphina’s eyes flicked down to O’Connor’s hand, straightening up in surprise as she saw they were holding a baby Tholian. Beside her, Shortrith said something in Klingon, which was immediately redacted by the universal translator.
Wren: Oh, I’m sorry, I uh, the computer is set for the babies, I don’t know if we can curse. ::to T’Fearne and O’Connor, but not able to look directly at them:: Where’d you find that little Shrimp?
O’Connor: It was scuttling around the corridor. Might be more so yet another thing to be careful of:: his voice cracked and he looked away slightly embarrassed.::
T'Fearne/Shortrith: Response
Wren: ::nodding:: I think it might be a good idea to update the commander about this. If there are Tholians here, they might be elsewhere too ::tapping comm badge::...... ::taps it again, as it didn’t work the first time::..... Are any of you getting a signal?
Ian tapped his badge as well.
O’Connor: No nothing. Not surprising with the radiation surges I guess.
T'Fearne/Shortrith: Response
Delphina let out a breath, anxiously drumming her fingers against the top of her PADD.
Wren: We heard footsteps a second ago, too large to just be the baby. I think it might be a good idea to shut down this room, I can use the available power to seal the door with a forcefield, that seems to be the only entrance. I don’t know if I can cover the ventilation system, though, and I don’t know how long I can keep it going ::going back to the computer system:: This thing still doesn’t want to cooperate with me.
O’Connor: Do your best. We should probably put the little bowling ball here in its own little containment area as well.
T'Fearne/Shortrith: Response
Wren: That’s probably a good idea. I can-
Before she could continue, she was interrupted by a loud bang from the hallway they’d come from. She paused, exchanging a glance with the others, before plugging her PADD back into the computer.
Wren: I’m gonna go ahead and seal the door now.
T'Fearne/Shortrith: Response
O’Connor: Hold up, cause you’re going to seal it with us on the outside.. There are still additional lifesigns farther into the structure. ::pulls out a mini holographic projector and activates blueprint hologram:: Many sections are collapsed and I think this ::points:: is now some sort of chasm. Getting a few readings from near there. At least one reptilian and one Bajoran…maybe. Also, there are also some even crazier temporal fluctuations. We should probably go check it out. This place will be our fallback point.
((OOC: just setting up to get back to the in the Rurat’dari post from 1/30 and meet my own toddler tech npc))
T’Fearne/Shortrith/Wren: Response
O’Connor: Actually, I’ve been working on a temporary idea about that.
Smiling widely, he placed the holographic emitter near the playpen area and began tapping on his tricorder.
O’Connor: Activate Emergency Holographic Beck-o-Nanny
T’Fearne/Shortrith/Wren: Response
