((Tess Evinrude's Quarters, Deck 3, USS Ronin - in orbit of Lolagi IV))
After approximately a year of building and painting, in sessions less frequent than he would have preferred, Alyndra's gift to Tess was complete. On Evinrude's desk were two models, remarkably accurate miniatures of their subject - their beloved Akira-class USS Ronin and the USS Rhine, a Volga-class runabout that was - if memory served - still on loan to Commander Alieth.
The officer leaned back in his chair, interlaced his fingers, and lifted them up high for a big, satisfied stretch.
O’Connor: =/\= Tess, can you meet me in Tuck’s office in a few minutes? =/\=
He wasn't schedule for duty, but wondered if something urgent had come up. Or if, perhaps, Ian and Marty were looking for some shoreleave time down on their newly-arrived destination. Tess finished his stretch, stood from his desk, and tapped his combadge to reply.
Evinrude: =/\= Hey Ian, I can be there in about ten...need to cap off these paints so they don't dry out. What's up?=/\=
O’Connor: =/\= I’ll explain when you get there. =/\=
His eyebrows furrowed slightly, now more curious.
Evinrude: =/\= Sure thing. See you soon! =/\=
((Nine minutes later - Chief Engineer's Office, Deck 14, USS Ronin))
Tucker: Response
Tess wondered just what on earth he had walked in on. As the door opened, he heard Tucker say something that didn't quite process. Someone he didn't immediately recognize, short in stature and dressed in strange clothing with a even stranger hat, stood with his back to the door. It appeared to be a child.
Evinrude: Hi Chief, did you get Ian's comm? Who's your friend?
Tucker/O'Connor: Response
Evinrude: Oh. Stars above--I'm sorry Ian! I knew you...were in the same predicament as T'Fearne but...
Tucker/O'Connor: Response
His attitude changed. Whereas it was previously mild amusement with a larger portion of concern, now it was all business. The last time someone had tampered with the ship's replicators - admittedly not out of malice - it had unleashed a recursive virus that caused toxic seafood to replace much of the recipe database.
oO Don't mess with my replicators. Oo
Evinrude: You think someone's tampered with your replication profile?
Tucker/O'Connor: Response
Evinrude: I assure you, operations would not have authorized this.
oO And if I find out any of my fellow ops team is responsible, so help me they'll be cleaning the replication cabinet and matter emitters of every single unit on this ship with a toothbrush. Oo
Tucker/O'Connor: Response
