((Bridge, Deck 3, USS Ronin, in orbit of Gas Giant A, Ross 580 System))
Wren: They’ve figured out we aren’t damaged, they’re preparing to fire again.
Delphina’s heart jumped as the ship shuddered again, and she realized her mistake, mouth twisting as she realized she’d once again embarrassed herself. oO Mordren can never hear about this… Oo
Nicolau: Sorry sorry....it's like...trying to ride rapids, sir...and it just keeps getting worse. I think whatever is happening on the moon is getting critical sir. It's distorting all our sensor readings, I can barely see five hundred meters ahead at this point.
Kel: ::kindly:: Stop apologizing lieutenant, we're all doing the best we can.
Kel: =/\= Administrator, I am doing my best to comply with your request, but I need more time. =/\=
T'Fearne/Morrow/B'hab: Response
Keeping an eye on the systems, Delphina sent a request for a report from engineering, hoping that whatever was going on down on the moon’s surface wasn’t causing any problems. All the readings from the engines looked alright, but if the radiation started breaching the shields, they were going to be in trouble. Engineering sent her an update, and her eyes widened a little.
Nicolau: Sir I'm not sure how much longer I can keep us in position!
Wren: Engineering is reporting that we’re experiencing some hull degradation due to the radiation levels. Nothing near the warp core yet, but I don’t think we can stay here for long.
Morrow/Kel/B'hab/T'Fearne: Response
Kel: =/\= I'll kindly remind you Administrator that Paragraph 653, subparagraph 9 of the Treaty of Armens does not stipulate that consultations end based on one party alone. Kindly don't make me invoke Paragraph 1209.
Delphina wasn’t up to date enough on the Treaty of Armens to know whether or not the commander was being accurate, but nonetheless she tried to look like she knew what was going on. oO I should have paid more attention during law studies. I think that was the one I almost failed because they assigned Maria Belmont as my tutor… Oo
Morrow/Kel/B'hab/T'Fearne: Response
Kel: =/\= My colleague brings up an excellent point, I'd like to get the Ferengi to arbitrate. =/\=
Nicolau/Morrow/Kel/B'hab/T'Fearne: Response
Delphina pivoted their ‘plasma leak’ again, tapping her fingers anxiously against her console. The energy in the room felt like a powder keg about to explode, not helped when Kel slammed his hand down on the side of the console. Jumping, Delphina barely managed to keep herself from dropping her PADD.
Kel: ::mumbling:: Boring conversation anyway. ::normal voice:: T'Fearne bring weapons online, full shields. Ensign Wren do we have the plan in place to go to warp?
Nicolau/Morrow/Kel/B'hab/T'Fearne: Response
Wren: ::frowning at the report:: Engineering is standing by, but we need to be well outside the radiation before we attempt warp. The level of radiation in the atmosphere would risk ignition.
Kel: ok. Bring us about Lt. Nicolau. If they want a scrape, we'll give them one.
Nicolau/Morrow/Kel/B'hab/T'Fearne: Response
Wren: I’m sending an order to Engineering to stand by and be ready. Looking for an alternative to initiating warp
Delphina glanced up in surprise as the teenaged O’Connor suddenly ran in, wrinkling her brow, oO Isn’t he supposed to be in sick bay?.... Maybe that’s why I’m sensing some consternation from down there. Oo
O’Connor: Sorry I’m late to the party, boss… but you know how us teenagers like to sleep in late. How can I help?
Nicolau/Morrow/Kel/B'hab/T'Fearne/Kel: Response
O’Connor: Absolutely.Captain.
Wren: oO Going to warp with all this radiation isn’t optimal, but if we need to make a quick escape, maybe something less orthodox is in order. Oo If a firefight breaks out, it might be possible to get high enough to utilize a gravity assist in order to break away from the planet and radiation as quickly as possible in order to get to a safe distance to engage warp.
Nicolau/Morrow/Kel/B'hab/Wren/T'Fearne/Kel: Response
Wren: Based on what I understand, Sheliak ships are built more for durability than maneuverability. They’re large and dense oO And ugly Oo, which wouldn’t serve them well in close quarters. We could easily outpace them if we need to make a break for it.
