((Unity Cortex, Central Dorsal, Narhelion))
Narhelion was still closer to the fissure than the Juggernaut. If she turned now she could get to the fissure before it could fire at her. Toryn felt some of the intruding Sheliak and Tholians that hadn't reached the cortex yet were slowly beaming out or retreating towards airlocks. But these already here kept fighting, which gave him the distinct impression they wanted to make sure as many of the Ronin on board her would be unable to avoid Narhelion's fate. For that, Toryn fumed and only fought harder.
Tucker: Son of a….they’re on station and powering up, Commander. I think they’re at the point, if they can’t have Narhelion, no one can. And that’s not so great for us ::he tried a weak smile:: I’m trying to send more power to the armor, but we’re tight on where that power can come from. Narhelion is using most of its power to propulsion and trying to get to the rift. ::looking to Shortrith:: Can you spare any power?
Toryn was aware through the mind link that Tess was up in the vents and that Narhelion was looking out for him.
Shortrith: I'm trying!
Evinrude: ::Frustrated, quietly.:: Dammit, where's a vent when you nee–
He couldn’t help but smirk when he sensed Narhelion give the man what he wanted before he’d even finished his sentence.
Evinrude: Hello there!
Tucker: Nice shootn’ Tess, now get back here so I can raise this shield.
Shortrith: I'm holding where I can, but it's starting to wear down.
Raga: And you’re doing an excellent job at it counselor. We don’t have much longer to hold.
Shortrith: ::to Evinrude:: Please, Lieutenant, be quick.
Raga: I’m sensing the other intruders have already left Narhelion. That Leviathan is firing!
Toryn felt Narhelion’s pain through the link as they raced back towards the fissure with the Ronin in tow. His comm badge chirped.
Marsek: =/\= Marsek to Commander Raga. Sir, we've discovered Narhelion's maintenance bay and the source of the power drain. She's--she's diverting power to create a new cosmozoan. =/\=
He could heard Doctor De La Croix’s voice in the background mentioning Commander Kel.
Raga: =/\= I know, Ensign. I’m mind linked with Narhelion and it makes sense. Since she did request materials from the Ronin to do that very thing. The fact she’s been able to do that while fighting like this is nothing short of incredible. =/\=
He could hear voices through the comm line from the other team but only paid them a loose focus.
Evinrude: Response
Tucker: Sir, I’m reading an explosion in the cargo bay; there’s a hull breach that I’m attempting to put up a temporary shield to hold in the atmosphere. Or our people and runabouts will get sucked out the hole, which, as you can imagine, is not a good thing.
Raga: Seal it with a force field as best as you can. Narhelion is also helping to keep our people safe.
Evinrude: Response
Tucker: We’re seeing some cascade failures which aren’t allowing me to rig a force shield. Consolor, can you see if you can back door the command structure? If I can’t go through it, we’ll go around the roadblock.
Shortrith: Give me a minute.
Raga: We’ve got the Ronin and are heading for the fissure now. We shouldn’t be under threat much longer.
He heard the crunch as the last of the intruders expired from the crushing gravity around them before he saw them fade in a shimmer. Narhelion had beamed them out of her before their exo suits could detonate.
Evinrude: Response
Toryn overheard mention that the other team had found Quentin and he exhaled slightly. Narhelion hadn’t mentioned what happened to him and he’d been focused on getting them through this too much to search through the link.
Raga: =/\= I’m glad Quentin and V’Len are safe. =/\=
Velis: ::sighs:: =/\= All right, Commander. Now what? =/\=
Raga: =/\= Stay put. You are in the most protected part of Narhelion. She’s just tractored the Ronin and we’re heading for the fissure. She should be diving into it in moments if we’re lucky. =/\=
Shortrith: ::smiling slightly:: I'm getting somewhere!
He turned his attention back to the goings on in the chamber he was in and smile at Renaie.
Raga: Excellent.
Evinrude: Response
Tucker: Only a few minutes now, it’s just that Juggernaut that’s in our way and that cannon is about five minutes from full power. I’m open to suggestions.
Raga: Something tells me Narhelion will be doing most of the work. I can feel how hard she’s pushing herself.
Evinrude: Response
Shortrith: How much damage do the Alliance ships have?
Tucker: They’ve taken far more damage. They’ve had two ships to worry about and now they’ve called in a juggernaut back-up, which means they’re at their last resort.
Raga: Agreed. Aside from the Leviathan they don’t have enough to finish the job they started.
Evinrude: Response
Shortrith: Any chance we could launch a mass attack or something?
Raga: Not likely? Narhelion is exhausted, she’s out of quills and the Ronin is barely holding together.
Evinrude: Response
Tucker: We could scrape together every unused system that Narhelion has and reroute power to armor and weapons, if need be. I think we should maybe start finding our way to the exit. And while yes, the Sencha weapon is in play, it takes a while to spin up…
Toryn winced as he felt the pain of the Sencha weapon strike Narhelion in her attempt to shield the Ronin. Even muted as it was he still dropped to his knees from the discomfort. And then he felt it. The surge of energy released at the fissure. And then, relief. Pressure of movement through something that felt like a barrier.
Shortrith: Hold on… did anyone else catch that?
Tucker: ::puzzled:: Catch what?
Raga: Yes. Narhelion just entered the fissure.
Evinrude: Response
Shortrith: I… I think Narhelion took us home.
Toryn offered a smile and nod towards the Counselor’s statement as the first visuals of what was in front of them popped onto the screens and he could see through Narhelion’s eyes.
Tucker: ::looking at Shortrith:: I do believe you’re correct, because our attackers are no longer in the vicinity. I’d say, we’d made it to the fissure.
Raga: We did. We survived. And so did Narhelion.
Evinrude: Response
Marty breathed a quiet sigh of relief, no need to worry about that Sencha weapon, one day, one of those things was going to bite the tentative Alliance. They’d witnessed Alliance members turning on each other, who take orders from either side. While he was pretty sure it wasn't going to be enough to split the Alliance, it did put things on a thin sheet of ice.
Shortrith: ::significantly calmer than three minutes ago:: We're through the rift.
Tucker: That’s some of the best news yet.
There was still the issue of finding Quentin, who had been absorbed by the creature for what he hoped was safekeeping; he’d really like to make sure his best friend was alive and well.
Raga: Agreed. And they found Quentin. He’s in stasis next to the cosmozoan that Narhelion is growing, or building? Or whatever. The Ronin survived too.
Evinrude: Response
Tucker: I’ll tell you what, I really need out of this contraption. And then a nice long hot shower.
Toryn chuckled and slumped back against the table at his back, sitting on the floor. He would need to beam over to the Ronin to check on things there, but for the moment he needed a chance to catch his breath. They’d pulled off a practical miracle and even through it was Tuesday he could still use a moment.
((ooc: Sorry this took so long to get out but this was an amazing mission. I look forward to seeing what y’all do for shore leave!))
