((OOC: I'm back! time to catch up on sims, will reply to 'em all in the next day or two.))

((Sickbay, Deck 10, USS Ronin))

The gentle hum of Sickbay was a nice accompaniment to the occasional clinking of equipment as Renaie drifted through sickbay, confirming everything was in its right place, all the required consumables restocked. The red alert frenzy had caused a large depletion of the vials, hyposprays, and other consumables, and they all needed to be resupplied.

As things had settled down, and Captain Niac and Commander Raga had returned, Renaie had a little more time up their sleeve.

oO I'm going to need to confirm, though, that the two are the real them, and that they're okay. Can't be too careful. Oo

Renaie had stayed to the side of the Senior Staff crowd when the shuttle entered, watching analytically for any abnormal activity from the two. There didn't appear to be anything wrong, fortunately.

They just needed to check.

As if detecting Renaie's thoughts, their field of view adjusted slightly to see Captain Niac in sickbay.

Shortrith: ::smiling softly:: Need I ask how long you've been standing here, Captain?

Niac: According to the ship I'm not standing here at all. Perhaps I'm some sort of specter...although you'd think the recently deceased would have less paddwork to tackle in the hereafter.

Letting out a loose chuckle, they turned to fully face him.

Shortrith: It's good to have you back.

Niac: Thanks, it's good to be back, although I realize for the folks who didn't spend the last few weeks listening to the Admiralty drone on about the latest innovations in fleet logistical pipelines that takes on a slightly different meaning.  Part of me is sorry to have missed it if I'm honest.  Watching yourself die explosively is a small price to pay to avoid three hours of Fleet Admiral Robbins 'The United Federation of Fun - A Motivated Crew is a Happy Crew' seminar.

For a moment, Renaie let a peaceful silence pass between the two, before glancing over at Niac once again.

Shortrith: Sir, if I may, I'd like to run some scans just to double check that you're the Niac from our timeline.

They smiled apologetically.

Shortrith: Apologies for the tediousness.

Niac: No fault of yours but if you start asking for tissue samples I'm going to assume this is all some elaborate prank. Speaking of elaborate pranks, I hear our visiting surgeon was quite a handful. She give you any trouble?

oO Other than being pretentious and overall snooty, no. Oo

Shortrith: A little, but she is talented.

Renaie let a out a chuckle as the captain did.

Niac: Well whatever happened she seemed...well, I'm not sure if impressed is the right word but she described your performance during the mission as 'notably adequate.' I get the sense that's high praise coming from her, even if she did keep referring to you as Doctor Shortbread. In her official report.

Renaie's eyebrows raised. oO Dude… my name is in the dossiers… Oo

Shortrith: She did? ::sighing slightly:: I'm not surprised. If memory serves, she's insulted every member of the medical crew.

oO It's not a bad nickname, though… Oo

A small smile crossed Renaie's face as Niac barked out a laugh.

Niac: Well that's...hmmm. Shame Lieutenant Vailani transferred, sounds like exactly the sort of person she would've loved to beat up in a back alley somewhere. Not that I can condone that sort of thing...although you'd be surprised what the dead can get away with.

Shortrith: I don't think I've met her, but with the way people have spoken glowingly about her, she seems very interesting. I would have loved to meet her, I think.

Niac: Response

A small smirk crossed Renaie's face as they realised they were getting distracted. They reached for the medical tricorder in their pocket, starting to scan the Trill Captain for any remaining time stuff - Renaie couldn't remember the specific names, but they were time stuff (after all, they were a Doctor and a Counsellor, not an Engineer).

Shortrith: What else did DLC say about the medical crew?

oO Wasn't DLC an old earth term for deluxe content with video games? Oo

Niac: Response

Renaie chuckled, continuing scanning.

Shortrith: ::sighing:: Why am I not surprised?

Niac: Response

Smiling, Renaie rolled their eyes affectionately before completing their scans.

Shortrith: Your scans come back affirmative, you're the Niac from our timeline - but that also begs the question while you're here - how are you doing?

They didn't intend to turn it into a counselling session, just a check in on the captain.

Niac: Response
