She was both thrilled and nervous at the same time. Here they were with the potential to discover a new species, something anyone in Starfleet would love a chance at, and she was nervous because of the idea that they may be telepathic. The thought was worrisome in light of what happened on Narhelion; another experience that had resulted in conflicting emotions.

Venn: Any chance we can get that door open soon?

Kessler looked at both Marsek and Evinrude for the answer to her question. Deacon had already passed out once, and she wasn’t doing too well either. Removing her jacket had only sped the process up, but the cold and lack of oxygen was quickly catching up to her.

Marsek: ::checks the new language database against her gathered material:: I'm looking for what door is - and even then, it might not call what we call a door that...

Kessler: Ensign. It's now or never. Tess, I hope you have a new idea in that bag of tricks of yours cause I am out of ideas.

Evinrude: ::Sighing heavily.:: We need...a communication tool. Something to bridge the gap...if only we had one of those telepathic loops from Narhelion. Until we know for sure what this console will do, I don't want to input any more commands.

Deacon: Response

Marsek: ::tries her best not to look frustrated:: It's like I said earlier, sirs. A lot of the new symbols we have are simple versions of what's been graffitied or engraved onto the consoles and cylinders. Think of a young child learning how to write. They practice letters, or ideograms, or what have you - but what they create is -similar- to the real thing, not the -exact- thing. That's what I'm looking at right now.

Kessler: OK, I'm following so far but how does that get us out of here?

Evinrude: We need a way to see through this entity's eyes. If the gift of translation came from the mind of a child, then we're not only translating a language but translating a...frame of mind when approaching that language.

Venn: That makes sense.

Deacon: Response

Alira wanted to lean against something, but was worried about what might happen.  Would she trigger a link? Would she activate something? Would she get absorbed? It was just too risky, and hopefully they’d get the door open soon, so she forced herself to remain on her feet.

Marsek: ::murmurs:: ...It's divided...six sections, six ide--

Kessler: Six what?

Deacon: Response

Alira pulled her jacket on and zipped it back up, trying to fight off the cold just a little longer.

Marsek: ...Six sections. Four cylinders, two doors. Six ideograms. ::stops, then backtracks:: It's the ceiling, sirs. It's hard to see unless you're looking around the edges of it, but there are dividing lines and a single ideograph repeated in each one. ::takes a deep breath:: ...I think it's the button with that eye-looking ideograph. No, I can't be one-hundred percent certain - but neither was Professor Corvas when she discovered the Tomb of the First Navigators.

It was as good a guess as any, Alira decided. Something about the creature caught Kessler’s attention and she turned to see it laying one of its appendages on the Lieutenant.

Marsek: ...Sure, she was then eaten by the fabled Guardian Beast of that tomb...but that's not going to happen here. It can't.

Kessler: ::still making contact with the creature and not looking away:: It's ok Ensign. You've done a good job but there's nothing to worry about. ::beat:: we're going to be fine.

Evinrude: Sir. ::A beat.:: Lieutenant Kessler?

Kessler didn’t respond, but continued to stare at the entity, and Alira started to become concerned, especially given her experience on Narhelion. That kind of communion was addictive.

Evinrude: Ensign...we may need to just take your best guess here and try to open those doors. We can study and analyze later, and...well, perhaps we just weren't prepared for first contact with something like this.

The cold was really getting to her now and she was also getting light headed from the thinning atmosphere. Her fingers were getting painful from the numbness and she blew on them to warm them up.

Venn: I aaa…agree. You…You are th-the expert. Use what … you know and … and mmmake a best guess.

Deacon/Marsek: Response

Whatever was happening with Kessler and the entity, they seemed to wrap their arms around each other and begin heading toward the door.

Kessler: ::in a softened tone:: Time to leave guys. Let's go.

Evinrude: ::To the others.:: He's clearly made contact, if not telepathically then...empathically.

Venn: Y-Yes. Keep an… an eye on hhhhim. If he gets t-t-t-too deep, it will be hard to separate th-them.

Deacon/Marsek: Response

The entity began to touch the pictographs on the control and then Kessler finally spoke up.

Kessler: ::still in a softened tone:: The doors should be opening in just a second.

Venn: Praise the Artist.

Deacon/Marsek: Response

Seconds later, the doors hissed and began to open. The cylinders slowed in their movement, and the path was open before them.

Evinrude: Sir... ::Tess looked from Jack to his charge and back.:: We've got your back. No harm will come to anyone. ::With his last words he tried to focus a sense of wellbeing and protective care upon the entity.::

Venn: :: placing her hand on Deacon’s arm :: Your turn to steady me, big guy. Maybe together we can both keep from falling head over heels.

Deacon/Marsek/Kessler: Response

She stepped through the doorway and instantly felt the fresh air hit her, the warm also starting to seep back into her bones. It would take a bit for her to fully warm up, but it was a pleasant feeling.

oO At least until my circulation returns and the tingling starts. Oo

Evinrude: I see an opening, up ahead, looks like a direct path to where we came in. What do we think - the way we came, or the new, direct route?

Venn: Let’s hope it’s the exit.

Deacon/Marsek/Kessler: Response

((OOC:  It does seem this may be coming to an end, so I didn’t add any new tags either. But I’m happy to continue if we want.))
