((Organic Tunnel, Posterior Dorsal, Unknown Cosmozoan Entity))

V'Len removed his phaser, confirmed it was set to the lowest setting and aimed it at the mass that held T'Fearne and La Croix.  Before he could take further action his antennae began to burn wildly.  It was short lived however as everything seemed to suddenly relax.

Whatever had happened, the chamber was dim once more.  There was a sudden noise behind him and V'Len watched as a massive shard of orange crystal came through a wall just behind V'Len.  It skidded across the floor and ground to a stop.

Kel: ::turning to the doppelganger once more:: What happened?  What was all that?

Cosmozoan: Aggressor. Crystal Aggressor sting Narhelion. Narhelion, eradicate angry crystal.

The voice was coming from the doppelganger, but the face made no movement.  What he was hearing was not coming through the speakers in his suit, but seemed to be in his ears or more accurately in his head.

Kel: So, you can speak to us.  Is that your name?  Narhelion?

There was a mass of movement in the black mass and T'Fearne's head emerged, free of the helmet and the black goo that had surrounded. It.  She continued to struggle to extricate herself form the black mass.

T’Fearne: ::misunderstanding:: We are not aggressors. You allowed us here. We came to render aid if you required it. ::Lowering hand gesture:: These ones are doctors. Healers of the body. Please, lower your weapons.

De La Croix:  Is it...is that thing trying to talk to us?

V'Len looked at the mass that was Dr. La Croix.

De La Croix:  Now see here you...you...whatever, I don't care what you are, you have a great deal to learn about manners!  Going around grabbing people and looking like that...you given poor T'Fearne here a terrible fright!  And now you've got things just falling on the floor in here?!  How are we supposed to get any work done under these conditions?!

Narhelion: Vocal communication. Inadequate. Narhelion, not used to. Narhelion, release. Narhelion only sought mind link. Intruder removable dermis prevent.

The creature, Narhelion it seemed.  Was trying to communicate?  It seemed so and with a sudden whirl of movement La Croix was free.  V'Len placed the phaser on the surface of the tunnel.

Kel:  I'm sorry to have threatened you.  I was concerned for my colleagues.

V'Len was fascinated with the doppelganger, but T'Fearne and La Croix were looking at the large shard of crystal that had skidded to a stop behind them.

T’Fearne: ::slowly:: I do not think she is referring to us. ::Stepping closer to the shard:: This is Lattice Alliance tech.

De La Croix:  Oh...oh this is...dreadful.  Mr. Commander, come take a look at this...it appears to be trying to heal itself but the wound is contaminated by fragments of whatever...::she gestured towards the chunk of glowing crystal on the floor::...that is.  If this creature was my patient I'd be concerned about the possibility of infection or some kind of sepsis...but I haven't the faintest clue how we'd treat it.

V'Len agreed that it was necessary to assess the damage and was about to start when a chirp sounded from his commbadge.

Velis: ::pauses and taps her commbadge:: =/\= Velis to Commander Kel. =/\=

Kel: =/\= Kel here =/\=

Velis: =/\= Are you hearing it, too? The creature, I mean. =/\=

Kel: =/\= We are indeed. =/\=

Velis: ::pauses:: =/\= I think it wants us to take off our helmets so it can connect to our minds. It sounds like Narhelion can’t convey what it needs to convey with words. =/\=

Kel: =/\= That seems an accurate assessment. =/\=

T’Fearne's brows rose slightly.

T’Fearne: ::joining the channel:: =/\= I would strongly advise caution. I experienced a brief empathtic sense from this entity, it was...overwhelming. Narhelion appears well-intentioned, but the scale of what passes for her emotions and thoughts is unlike anything I have encountered. =/\=

De La Croix:=/\= Responses =/\=

Narhelion: Direct mind link with invasive entities not advised. Narhelion mind powerful. ::the word droned for a moment:: Mind Link not possible with non-psionics without bioorganic alterations.

A faint chill ran down T’Fearne's spine. The creature, Narhelion, felt almost apologetic.

Kel: =/\= Be careful Lieutenant Velis! =/\=

T’Fearne: Again, I strongly recommend we take time to understand the nature of these "bioorganic alterations" before anyone volunteers. I prefer not to have a Borg situation on our hands.

De La Croix: =/\= Responses =/\=

Narhelion: Temporary mind link interface possible. Permanence avoidable within first forty *unintelligble*. Accessing alien device. Revision. Permanence avoidable within first forty eight hours. ::the reverberations through the interior lingered:: Privacy uncompromised. Mind link surface only, without further consent.

The security officer blinked.

T’Fearne: That was a surprisingly informative consent statement from a creature the size of a, ah moon? Which also suggests she has interacted with telepaths before. Possibly has guests or a crew of telepaths?

She turned to look at Kel and De La Croix, then at the dark duplicates.

T’Fearne: Which makes me wonder where the telepathic crew is? ::gesturing at the copies:: and these are an interface? The immune system? Both?

Kel:  Beats me?  I'm not sure how to determine what type of psychic interface is needed.  Dr. La Croix, do you have any ideas?  Can we even detect the mental signals Narhelion is emitting?

De La Croix: Responses

T'Fearne had turned her attention back to the large block of crystal.

T’Fearne: Where did she get a chunk of Tholian tech from.

Kel:  It came in while you both were encased.  It seemed like it jut ripped through from the outside.

De La Croix: Responses

There was a sudden high pitched wine and V'Len winced.  Even in his helmet his antennae were being assaulted by both the sound and whatever mental energy Narhelion was putting out.

The creature suddenly vomited a resin like substance to coat the device and began swallowing it into the floor.

T’Fearne: ::eyes wide:: Kel, Doctor, get back! Their exosuits are pressurised and generally explosive once punctured. We don’t know what this device is…

V'Len grabbed La Croix and moved back, but it was too late.  The crystal detonated and he found himself awash with bright yellow orange light.  It was as if he was inside a sun.  He was thrown in a direction and when he landed he saw long crystaline spike coming toward him.  T'Fearne was coming toward him, but before she could make it a shard shot up and knocked her away.  V'Len grabbed La Croix and rolled away again trying to stay ahead of the crystal spears.
Instead, the blast caught her up. She lost track of him and De La Croix

When it was finally over V'Len found himself face down, several meters down the passage.  The lights were dimmer, but he could see slight reflections off orange and pink crystals.  There was something next to him.

Kel:  Dr. La Croix are you there?  Are you alright?

De La Croix:  Responses

Slowly and painfully he pulled himself to his feet twisting around beams of crystal.

Kel:  Throwing you to the ground was not my first choice.  ::turning around, yelling::  T'Fearne!

T'Fearne/De La Croix: Response

Kel:  Narhellion?  Can you hear us?  ::looking at his tricorder::  There's massive structural damage all around us.

Narhelion: Response?

T'Fearne/De La Croix: Response

Kel: =/\= Kel to Raga.  The creature's been hit by some kind of missile.  I'm standing in the middle of a massive wound.  What's your situation? =/\=

Raga: =/\= Response =/\=

T'Fearne/De La Croix: Response

Narhelion: Response?
