((Ten Minutes later — Shuttlebay 1, Deck 9, USS Ronin))
T’Fearne had arrived at the Shuttle bay to find the Luster under pre-flight prep and assumed that was the craft they would be taking over. Two other officers arrived at the bay, whom she assumed were the other officers whose presence Alyndra had requested. Just then, the agent of chaos herself arrived, dragging a grav-pallet laden with gear. She addressed the waiting officers.
Syrex: Good morning everyone. ::Turns to Ensign Roop:: Ensign, would you please take over for me on pushing duty?
Roop: Roop: Yes, Lieutenant. ::taking over pushing the floating hover-trolley::
T’Fearne: :: giving Roop a short nod of approval before turning to Alyndra :: Congratulations on your first mission lead, Lieutenant.
Whether her ex-roommate and best friend had requested her or if Kessler had arranged it, the security officer was nonetheless relieved to be Alyndra’s team’s protection detail for this away mission.
Syrex: Thank you. It contains all of the biosafety equipment we’ll need for this mission.
Om-Zora: Noted.
T’Fearne hitched her gear pack on her shoulder and fell into step beside Alyndra as she and Om-Zora made their way to the shuttle craft Luster, and the obliging Mr. Roop pushed the grav pallet along behind them.
T’Fearne: Any briefing on what exactly the mission parameters are?
Syrex: Our mission? We are going to board the USS Compass Rose, aiming to go in through the Oberth Class Shuttlebay. I hope to learn more about what this quarantine beacon is all about. Sending a distress call, then telling us to go away? It’s damn peculiar.
Om-Zora: And deeply concerning. If it is as serious as it seems to be, it means it is very fast acting, whatever it is.
T’Fearne glanced with interest at the science officer.
T’Fearne: Or something's moving fast. It could be a biological agent. Could be something else. We don’t really know yet.
Alyndra nodded, as the team filed into the rear of the shuttlecraft.
Syrex: ::To Om-Zora and T’Fearne:: Get suited and booted, we’ll be taking off soon.
Om-Zora: Yes sir.
T’Fearne: On it. :: Already beginning to pull on her protective gear and glancing curiously at Om-Zora to see how he would manage the EV suit with all the bright yellow plumage :: The sooner we launch, the sooner we find out what we’re dealing with.
Syrex: ::To Roop:: I hear you have training as a helm officer, ensign?
Roop: Yes, Sir.
Syrex: Great. I’d like you to take the helm onboard, think you can handle it?
Roop: Yes, Sir!
Syrex: Excellent. Please go and get booted up.
((Shuttle Craft Luster))
A few short moments later, they were all suited with appropriate PPE for the potential contagious bio-hazard conditions. Their gear had been checked and stowed for quick access. The flight ahead was a short 1000-meter hop from the Ronin’s shuttle bay to the Compass Rose, but T’Fearne had a suspicion they’d need a visual sweep before docking.
The security officer slid into the passenger seat behind the copilot's chair, grimacing at the choice of the Type 9 shuttle, a tiny craft that only allowed 2 crew work stations and 4 passenger seats. She wouldn’t have access to control the tactical systems aboard the Luster, instead, she slaved her PADD to the console and brought the tactical displays up so she could at least monitor the sensor readings closely.

As Roop brushed past her on his way to take the helm, his emotional aura radiated in a way that suggested he was pleased. She thought either at the prospect of piloting a shuttle or the escape from grav-pallet maneuvering duty.
Syrex: =/\= My team is about five minutes out from being ready to depart, are we cleared to board the Compass Rose? =/\=

Syrex: Response
T’Fearne: Let’s keep sensors scanning their weapons array just in case. If they were compromised enough to be sending mixed signals, they could still be dangerous.
oO That’s either a break in our favour or the start of a trap. Oo
Om-Zora: I am as ready as I will be.
Roop: Shuttle Luster's ready to go, Lieutenant Syrex. Shall we close up the hatch?
T’Fearne settled back in the seat and contemplated strapping in, but thought better of it for now.
Syrex: Response
Om-Zora: Based on some of the readings while I was in the lab, the situation is pretty grim. The mortality rate is concerningly low, at least it seems that way from this distance.
Roop: ::tapping the console and stretching to look back past the big Aurelian at the shutting rear hatch:: And have those readings determined its mode of transfer yet, or is that an ‘us?’
Though she was also a pilot, she was glad that Mr. Roop was taking the helm, as the only member of Security on the team this time and with their ETA mere minutes away, she needed the time and concentration to prepare for potential boarding conditions. Roop had the shuttle in hand and guided the Luster out of the Ronin’s shuttle bay and edging towards the distressed survey vessel.
T’Fearne: If possible, could we do a fly around, a visual inspection of the hull? :: catching glance from others :: I’m not sure what I’m looking for yet. :: Gently patting Alyndra’s shoulder :: Also, what’s the status of the Rose’s shields? Has the command team accessed the override codes yet?
Just then, the shimmering curtain of energy in front of the shuttle flickered and dropped.
oO Looks like they did. Oo
Syrex: Response
Om-Zora: Response
Roop: Response
As Roop guided the shuttle onward, T’Fearne took careful note of the ship’s hull readings. Searching for any signs of phaser, torpedo or any kind of damage and found none.
Just then, a warning flared across the view screen and her PADD alike. Her head snapped up.
T’Fearne: They’ve charged their weapons! Targeting lock on the Ronin.
Syrex: Response
Om-Zora: Response
Roop: Response
T’Fearne: Stay close to the hull :: she gave her tactical advice after observing the Oberth class's weapons schematics :: dead zone their targeting arcs! They only have two forward phasers and limited targeting capability with us this close. Avoid the aft also, they have a single torpedo tube. If we hug the hull, we reduce their options.
