(( Corridors, Deck 1, Main Compartment, DS33 ))

Kiran: Commander, do we have any transporter inhibitors left?

T’Fearne: I saw some active in the Embassy proper. There might be a few unactivated ones in a supply crate. I’ll check. How many do we need?

Raga: We should have a few. When we fell back I had a few of the ones we’d already placed brought with us just in case.

That was music to Rork's ears, it would keep the Alliance from beaming more reinforcements in from the outlying transporter rooms.

Kiran: Good, 'cause we’re going to need them.

He barely got out of the way of a disrupter bolt, hitting the deck hard. It almost took the wind out of him. He popped up and fired off three three-burst shots, the first volley missed, but the second found its mark, a Sheliak taking all three bursts in the chest.

Out of his eye, he could see the Vulcan ensign head off into the embassy. He could only assume she was getting the remaining transporter inhibitors. These were the smaller versions they had been using, not the usual ones attached to a pole that you stick into the ground.

T’Fearne: We need to use these sparingly. Maybe carry them with us.

Rork took one and attached it to his tac-vest.

Valo: Hey, what happened with the environmental controls up there? Are they managed via a separate control system?

Raga: Possibly. Those controls would be in Ops.

Seeing motion, Korras called out. Rork snapped his head around to see what the large Klingon was referring to. When he did, he didn’t like what he saw. More Tholians and Sheliak came to the compatriot's needs. Rork switched from burst mode to automatic fire.

He was done messing around.

Korras:  More are incoming!

Rork didn’t waste any time shooting into the crowd of Alliance members; it was a pretty even mix between Tholians and Sheliak. And boy they were determined, stepping over their fallen brothers to keep the march moving, trying to encroach on the spot where the team was holding their ground. He let loose more automatic fire, taking out a Tholian right between what Rork guessed was eyes.

Kiran: They keep advancing! I don’t know if we will be able to stop them. We need a plan, and a good one, sooner rather than later.

He took out several more Alliance members with automatic fire. He glanced down, and his power cell was starting to get weak. Instead of waiting until it went completely out, he switched it out for a fresh one. Hopefully, everyone else was watching the power cell like he had.

T’Fearne: Response

Valo: What about fire suppression systems? Some systems will use force fields and trap a flame, allowing it to snuff out all the oxygen. That….doesn’t seem like a good idea. BUT, if there is any kind of water or cooling mechanic built in on the starbase it might help these guys chill out.

Rork liked where the Ensign's head was at. There were some problems with his plan, but it could be modified to work.

As if reading Kiran's mind, the XO spoke.

Raga: Good idea, Ensign. Sadly with this many of us here too that could negatively impact our own people. ::A disruptor bolt whizzed past his head and he dropped lower, then popped around the corner to fire back:: That might work if we could freeze them out of Deck Two since that’s where the ones using the stairs are coming from.

Korras: Also, If the amount of moisture in the air there is increased, it will freeze to the Tholian’s suits, which might hinder them.

He allowed himself to chuckle.

Kiran: ::to no one in particular:: Tholian popsicles…

T’Fearne/Valo: Response

There was a faint sound of explosions somewhere far off on the other end of the station. He hoped it was the good guys, but Senior Chief Solana had to ruin it.

Solana: =/\= Starboard side breach!! They’re pushing through the lifts and a half dozen just beamed in. They’re heading for the starboard airlock in section five! =/\=

oO Great, today gets better and better Oo

Raga: =/\= Understood! Raga to Ops, a group of Alliance troops just beamed in near the starboard airlock. I think they're going to try and decompress the entire deck! Can you block them? =/\=

Stergis/MacKenna: =/\= Response =/\=

Raga: =/\= Copy, we’ll see if we can deal with them in the meantime. Raga out. =/\= ::He looked at the rest of his team as well as a few of the other crew around them:: Seiuri on me, the rest of you hold position and keep them back.

Rork didn’t hesitate to fall in at the XO’s side.

Korras: On your six.

Kiran: ::motioning:: Lead the way, sir.

T’Fearne/Valo: Response

It didn’t take long for their engagement with the Alliance forces to turn back into a heavy firefight, causing them to shift their position slightly. The corridor was alight with phaser and disruptor fire, looking like angry fireflies, and Rork was doing his best not to get shot.

Raga: Winds, there’s more of them. They must have beamed in reinforcements.

Crewman: Yes, sir. They destroyed the transport inhibitor near the airlock and have been beaming in for the last minute. Don’t know why they aren’t now though.

Raga: You can thank Ensign, T’Fearne for that. ::He gestured to the inhibitor on her person:: Ensign, set up one of those other two in that room right there. ::He gestured to the door a couple of feet from them::

Rork leaned out from his cover, laying down some automatic phaser fire. He managed to take out two Tholians trying to use the Sheliak in front of them as a sort of meat shield. The scent of ozone hung in the air, as phaser and disruptor fire again filled the corridor.

Kiran: With them not able to beam in now, can we force them towards that stairwell?

It was a valid idea and one they should consider, though it involved a lot of Tholians and Sheliak to shove down a small stairwell. The best bet was to thin the heard a bit, and with that, Rork popped out from his cover and laid down some phaser fire, nailing a Tholian, who exploded in its exo-suit.

T’Fearne/Valo: Response

Raga: Kiran, Valo. Thermoplastic grenades, on the count of three the rest of you give us covering fire and then we toss them.

Koras: Understood.

Rork grabbed for his grenade, it felt smooth in his hand. Nasty little bugger, though.

Kiran: Ready whenever you are ex-oh. ::he armed the grenade::

T’Fearne/Valo: Response

The XO nodded at the nearly dozen people around him and then gave the count.

Raga: Three….two…one. Cover!

The Klingon Korras wasted no time in lying down covering fire. Rork cocked his arm and let loose with the grenade; he was genuinely surprised at how far he had chucked it.

Kiran: Here goes nothing!

T’Fearne/Valo: Response

The grenades were thrown, and he ducked behind the bulkhead briefly as they went off.

WOMP! WOMP! WOMP!

The grenades hit their mark and exploded, encasing several Tholians and Sheliak in a quickly hardening thermoplastic. Only seconds later, the plastic became ridged, preventing escape.

Raga: Medic!!!! Get him back!

Several enemies had fallen, but four were near the airlock. Three were firing to provide cover and using themselves to cover the fourth, who was working on the mechanism.

Korras: ::pointing at a hatch to a maintenance shaft:: Is this shaft connected to the one there? ::indicating another hatch near the group of alliance soldiers::

Kiran: ::looking to Korras:: I think so? Not too familiar with the layout.

He fired more shots from the cover, and while not hitting anyone, he caused them to take a few steps back, a few steps was a start, anything to make them hesitate.

T’Fearne/Valo: Response

Raga: Focus fire on the ones by the airlock. We can’t let them bypass the safety lock!

Rork followed the XO’s lead and fired several shots toward the group he pointed out. He was able to take out a Sheliak with a phaser blast to the face, causing his head to snap back and his body to drop to the deck plates, barely missing falling on a Tholian next to him. He fired again, this time at the Tholian; his first two shots missed, but Rork could guess which way the Tholian would break. He broke right just as Rork had suspected; the Bajoran hit three shots center-mass; it stumbled back into a group of three Sheliak and exploded, taking the Sheliak with him.

The only thing Rork could do was shrug.

Korras: I can crawl through there and get close enough to them to ruin their day.

oO The Klingon does have a good idea, they’d never see it coming Oo

Korras: ::passing his phaser rifle to someone else:: Does anyone have any grenades left?

The old Bajoran grabbed the last two grenades off his belt.

Kiran: Here ::handing them to Korras:: It’s a thermoplastic and tac-EMP, enjoy. ::he flashed a Cheshire grin::

T’Fearne/Valo/Raga: Response

Korras took the grenades and opened the hatch. It would be a tight fit for him, meaning he shouldn’t run into anyone who would harm him, which was a good thing. He was going to be able to get behind them. Rork could tell when the Klingon got to the other side of the corridor; he announced his presence loud and clear, and only as a Klingon could, with a grenade and a bat’leth.,.

WOMP!

Korras stood in all his Klingon glory when the smoke cleared, wielding his bat’leth. That gave Rork the crazy idea to follow him, he could use the backup, and the group could pinch them into a corner or back down a jefferies tube. Kiran shouldered his rifle and went the way of the Klingon.

He could hear Korras more than see him as he came up the ladder. He unslung his phaser rifle and got ready to fire once he cleared the hatch. Second later, he cleared it and came up firing, taking out the first Tholian he saw. It dutifully exploded, taking another Tholian and setting off a small chain reaction, with Sheliak trying to distance themselves and their exploding Alliance mates.

Korras: Clear!

Kiran: I’ve got your six Lieutenant. ::giving a crooked smile::

Rork found a bulkhead to take up cover, and they now had the Alliance spread thinner than he had imagined they wanted. He fired several shots at the advancing? Sheliak? It looked as though they couldn’t make up their minds, attack himself and Korras, or attack Raga and the rest of the group,.

Korras/T’Fearne/Valo/Raga: Response

Suddenly, he had an idea. Rork slapped his combadge.

Kiran: Kiran to Raga, Commander I have an idea…

Raga: =/\= Response =/\=

Rork suppressed a chuckle.

Kiran: They can’t decide whether to attack us or you. I say we heard them toward that nice juicy airlock.

Raga: =/\= Response =/\=

Now came the task of trying to herd the Tholians, and Sheliak left into that airlock somehow. They hadn’t been able to beam in reinforcements, and the stairwell was well covered, and they couldn’t advance. It felt like they had the upper hand for once, but he knew better than to count his eggs before they were hatched. Can’t be overconfident.

Kiran: You heard the man, Lieutenant; concentrate on trying to move them back towards the airlock!

Rork fired more, this time picking and choosing his spots to force the Alliance group backward, hoping that the group on the other side was doing their thing. The problem was getting the door open before they knew what was happening. It might mean decompressing deck one. It would only be as long as needed to flush the Tholians and Sheliak out of the airlock.
