((Secured Reflection Suite and Contemplation Cell, Harmony Shores Collaborative Resort))

Rox sat on the floor slumped against the wall, her legs pulled into her chest and her arms folded in front of her.  She stared at the floor and restrained her urge to throw the scented candle as best she could.  It was beyond upsetting that she had allowed the bourgeoisie surgeon to get under her skin.  What was worse was what it might mean for her friendship with Marty and V'Len.  Marty was excellent company and she never tired of being with him, she wondered if she ever could.   V'Len had been her friend since they served on the Thor. He was a trusted confidant and, secretly, she enjoyed working on his fungi.

De La Croix:  This is your fault.

Rox lifted her head which caused it to suddenly feel very full of something.  Her neck hurt and her left temple had hit something.  It might have been a glass or a plate or a wall, Rox was not sure.

Rox: I heard you the first five times ::giving jazz hands::  I've got super strumpet hearing.

De La Croix: Response

Rox:  You know I used to love to work in sickbay.  I took care of people, I was a valued asset. Not just on the Ronin, but on the Thor and the Oumuamua and the Chin'toka. ::pausing::  Now it seems like sickbay is my least favorite place to be. Full of uppity doctors with attitudes.

De La Croix: Response

Rox pointed her finger at the woman sharply.

Rox:  You made sickbay a hell for everyone, especially me.

Rox was never good at separating her past from her present.  She was stuck in being "the girl from Turkana IV" who was somehow less than everyone else.  While she had no evidence Rox could  never shake the notion that every slight, every condescension was because of where she came from.   And when the slight came from a Duchess it was even worse.

De La Croix: Response

Rox suddenly pulled herself to her feet and walked over to lean against a wall.  Her legs were beginning to cramp and she felt she needed to move.  As she moved she thought back over her time on the Ronin.

Rox:  You know what that's not true.  Sickbay was difficult before you arrived.  ::pausing::  It all started the day Quentin Beck showed up.

De La Croix: Response
