Alyndra sighed a breath of relief, threats seemed to work with this patient, being a paediatrician, Alyndra was used to difficult patients, but her patients were not usually this difficult.

Syrex: Before we go much further though I do need to ask this, is there any particular reason why you’ve put off your check-up for this long? Are you nervous? Too busy? You can tell me, it’s all confidential here.

Alyndra was expecting the nervous lieutenant to burst out into a flurry of excuses because they’d not had a check-up since they were a cadet, but instead, she just blinked at her.

Sadar: Honestly, I, uhh, I just think it never really... I didn’t think it necessary? I-I feel fine, and I didn’t want to add extra workload to our Sickbay. We’ve had a, uhh... ::searches for word:: An interesting year. Sickbay’s been rather busy.

Alyndra put her PADD down on the nearby console, grabbed a stool and sat down next to Lt Sadar, her hands crossed.

Syrex: :: In a hushed tone:: Sometimes we feel fine, but inside we don’t always know what’s going on, these check-ups aren’t just for you to express any concerns about your health, they’re also to check that nothing is eating at you silently. I’m sure you know there isn’t a receptor for everything. Does that make sense?

Gila shook her head seriously, Alyndra knew that the Mizarian knew all of this already, or at least she should as a Starfleet doctor. Otherwise, this would be a stern reminder.

Sadar: N-No, I know, I-I’m sorry... I didn’t mean for it to get this delayed, but once it did, I hesitated to bring it up, because I would likely get a reprimand for delaying it, and thus it only got even more delayed and... Well, uhh, th-this happened.

Syrex: I understand, I do. But all Doctors, including me, including you only want the best for their patients. Knowing that someone was putting off seeing me out of fear would be really upsetting to me if I weren’t a paediatrician. No kid wants to see the doctor, but not seeing a doctor when you need to is worse - it’s always worse.

Sadar: I-I’m… Y-Yes, I will keep that in mind for the future...

Syrex: I hope you do.

Sadar: Response

Syrex: ::Unconvinced:: Hmm, Wait here.

Alyndra took her stool and rolled it over to the nearest replicator, which thankfully wasn’t too far from the bio-bed Gila had chosen to occupy. Alyndra inserted a small card into an adjacent console and tapped away at the replicator. Soon after a small unapologetically sparkly pink box shimmered into existence. Alyndra took it carefully and rolled back over to the Lieutenant.

Syrex: So I usually do this with my younger patients, but you seem like someone who needs the push ::Passes the box to Gila::.

Sadar: Response

Syrex: Please take this back to the Artemis with you. Whenever you get anxious about seeing the doctor, please look at this, and remember that you always have someone to go to.

OOC: This is what’s in the box ;-)
