((Ready Room, Deck 3, USS Ronin))
Reporting to the commanding officer was an unfamiliar experience for Taj’el. They had only recently met their own CO aboard the Thor, having joined while the executive officer had been serving as acting captain. Since then, they had interacted with him more frequently. Then there had been the series of unusual events involving Commander Saa. All of this had now led to meeting a new commanding officer, one who, according to the reports they had reviewed, had been deceased not long ago and was now somehow alive and active.
They had begun to observe that Starfleet rarely adhered to simple or strictly logical circumstances.
They pulled on their hand gloves, appreciating the quiet sense of security provided by having their hands covered. On a new vessel, surrounded by many unfamiliar and emotionally expressive individuals, the gesture offered a small measure of protection against uncertainty.
Waiting outside the door, they finally pressed the chime. The layout of the vessel already differed considerably from what they were accustomed to.
Taj’el: Lieutenant Junior Grade Taj’el, reporting in sir.
As Taj’el observed the captain of the Ronin, more precisely, the Fleet Captain, they noted that he differed significantly from their prior expectations. The persistent tightness in their chest, which had manifested with increasing frequency in recent days, returned upon finding themselves face to face with the imposing Trill.

Taj’el: I was requested for medical assistance as temporary reassignment from the USS Thor. However with the time it took me to get from the Gamma Quadrant it seems the situation was handled by your crew.

Taj’el: Clarification: I had also requested assistance with the study of ultraviolet radiation, as it had been necessary to conduct the research within a new environment. It had therefore been determined that I could receive the requested support here aboard the Ronin
They lifted a PADD with the request and orders on it, but paused as they noticed their ungloved hand. Now that they were on board, they would need to resume wearing their gloves. However, during a security check-in such as this, it was likely acceptable.
