((Lab 2, Deck 10, USS Ronin))
Kel: I'm more of a life sciences guy myself, but we may have another resources. ::smiling at Kelor:: Sencha radiation gets its name from being who discovered it ::dramatic pause:: Sencha Niac.
Zh'taan: oO Sencha… Niac… those two names sound familiar.Oo Niac, as in Captain Karrod Niac?
Kel: That's right. We may need to recruit the Captain to assist us.
Zh'taan: Sir, I understand—you think the captain’s symbiont is the same one that discovered the radiation? That’s interesting…
Kel: I know it's the same one, and if I can play the guitar because my third host learned…
Zh'taan stepped back, perhaps slightly in awe.
Zh'taan: You’re right. I’ll contact him. It’s the best way to move forward. =/= Ensign Zh'taan to Captain Niac. Would you be available to come down to Lab 2? We need your insight. End transmission. =/=
Kel: ::hurrying to add:: =/= They'll be drinks! =/=
Kelor couldn’t help but let out a smile at his superior’s comment. Nevertheless, it would be the first time he would meet the captain, and he wondered how this first encounter would go.
Kel: =/= Ensign Wren, please come to Science Lab 2. =/=
Wren/Niac: Response
Kelor and V'Len returned to their duties at their respective workstations, waiting for the captain and Ensign Wren to arrive. Kelor, for his part, continued analyzing the data collected during the last mission and entering it into various databases to make it more usable. Their wait was short, and the two officers arrived fairly quickly in the laboratory.
Zh'taan: G-Good morning, Captain. ::straightens into an official posture:: Uh… I am Ensign Zh'taan, we would like to speak with you about Sencha radiation.
He also gave a nod of greeting to Ensign Wren.
Kel: ::nodding his head:: Morning Karrod, Ensign Wren. Ensign Zh'taan and I were just trying to break down some of what we experienced on our last mission.
Wren/Niac: Response
Kel: Given the nature of the phenomena, namely that it was a Sencha generator, you seemed uniquely qualified to give us some insight.
Kelor felt intimidated by the presence of the captain, and by his symbiont, who had discovered the radiation he had been working on for several days, and he didn’t really dare to speak.
Niac/Wren: Response
Kel: Ensign Zh'taan, perhaps you can bring the Captain and Ensign Wren up to speed on our discussion.
Kelor almost jumped when he heard his name. He had drifted off into his thoughts and had to quickly come back to reality.
Zh'taan: ::quickly checks his PADD:: Th-the Lieutenant Commander Kel and I, we… um… were trying to figure out how the Alliance managed to emit so much Sencha radiation without… um… it damaging the generator.
Kelor felt more embarrassed than ever. He lowered his head toward the floor as soon as he finished his sentence.
Niac/Wren: Response
Kel: My key question is how the hell were they doing it. How did they generate Sencha will still using subspace to pull energy to pull energy from a star in another universe?
Kelor looked from one officer to another, both impressed and ashamed. He almost didn’t feel like he belonged among these specialists. Damn imposter syndrome! Between responses, he glanced quickly at the notes he had written on his PADD.
Zh'taan: We… we also think that Tholian technology is… could be involved.
Niac/Wren: Response
Kelor buried his nose back into his digital documents.
Zh'taan: If… if I rely on Starfleet’s various documentation about the Tholians… uh… they are capable of creating structures that can alter space-time. We think that… that this ring ::he points at the ring on the schematic:: was built using Tholian technology, or at least contains part of… of that technology.
Niac/Wren/Kel: Response
Zh'taan: So, we… we could almost think that this ring acts as an alignment point between our universe and the other one.
Niac/Wren/Kel: Response
