((Flight Operations Center, Deck 7, USS Ronin))
Singh: =/\= Lieutenant...listen very carefully. If the Commanders Kel and Tucker are out there...and haven't tumbled headlong into one of these anomalies...they're in enormous danger. Runabouts do not offer sufficient protection from whatever has been done to this system. You have to get them back to the ship immediately. Or I'm going to get them.=/\=
Vomek: =/\= On it, Sir. Ma'am. Major!. I'll find them. =/\=
The commline closed and Ishani had barely a moment to seethe before the deck pitched benethe her boots, consoles all around the room flickering and detonating in a shower of sparks and melted composites. Thankfully most of the people who would've been manning those stations were currently attending to other duties.
Unfortunately some of them had been on the Shinano. The primary computer and sensor interfaces feeding into the hologlobe only briefly flickered as they recovered from whatever had compromised them. It was only the fact the ship hadn't gone to Red Alert that kept Ishani from heading to the pilots ready room and getting her flight suit on. Gunny Knight, hunched over his station with a scowl that would've done the Captain's proud, caught her look and shook his head.
Knight: ::he furrowed his brow:: Not good, Major, not good.
Singh: Your capacity for understatement wasn't noted in your file, Gunny. I'll be certain to correct that oversight.
Her attention snapped back to the hologlobe which now showed a spherical pulse emanating from the Ronin and propagating outwards at high speed in all directions. The distortions that had been plaguing their sensors since arriving in the system began to vanish as space normalized in a growing perimeter around them, a small island of relative calm in this turbulent system. Finally the wavefront washed across the last known positions of their missing search team and the computer chirped an update, transponders suddenly coming through clearly.
Knight: WE GOT FRIENDLIES!!
Breathing a sigh of relief, Ishani tapped a few commands and established a telemetry uplink with the incoming flight.
Singh: I'm showing our ships and their crews intact and the wreckage of the Shinano under tow. They may have blown a few circuits but it seems Chief Tucker trained his people well. I will be sure and mention that to them while they're repairing...::she gestured towards the blown out consoles all along the rear wall::...those.
Whatever relief Ishani had felt in that brief moment evaporated as another sensor contact blinked into existence from a completely different vector.
Knight: We’ve got an unknown bogie at bearing 1-4-7 by 3-5, and she looks big.
The moment stretched as this new factor in their precarious tactical scenario unfolded in her mind. She could visualize the flights of their runabouts, the possible location of the away teams and this location they'd gone to investigate. She could extrapolate from the vector of the unknown ship where it had most likely come from.
Deep within the Isles. Deep within Alliance held territory. The sensor image began to resolve more clearly and a twinge of phantom pain in her side reminded her of the last time she'd faced such monsters.
Singh: That's an Lattice Alliance ship, Gunnery Sergeant. Bring the wing to full alert, standby to launch all remaining fighters. Advise inbound craft to avoid the contact at all costs and to get aboard as soon as possible.
Knight: Response
The compartment lights snapped to red and the alert klaxon sounded, echoing across the flight deck as her people scrambled into their positions. Damage control teams took up stations with emergency tools as flight crews rapidly performed final inspections on waiting fighters. The first few pilots were already mounting boarding ladders or pulling on helmets as they sprinted across towards their waiting birds. Ishani felt a flare of pride even as she forced herself not to dash out of the room.
Singh: We'll have to coordinate from here...::She nodded towards the flight deck::...as much as I would rather be down there.
Knight: Response
The alert klaxons echoed across the bay as the sensor contacted drifted towards the edge of their weapon range then drew to a halt. The two ships hung in the dark and seemed to dare one another to blink first.
Ishani mastered her breathing and waited for their moment, her fingers tight around the edge of the console.
