She watched him scan her work patiently and gave him room to do so by scooting down the tube a little.
Solana: Doubting my work, Chief? ::She gave him a dangerously demure smile::
Kiran: Not at all, but do you want Raga on your tail for something not working? That’s why we double-check, sorry it’s an engineering thing.
Solana: We can’t sit around all day, there’s a lot of tubes to cover. Even only focusing on those with quick access to sensitive areas of the station. If the other teams are keeping the same pace we should have all the sensors and transporter blockers in place long before any red alert.
Kiran: ::he smirked:: My thoughts exactly. I figured transferring out of engineering would keep me out of the Jeffries tubes, but apparently not.
Solana: Figured you liked the view from back there, so I didn’t want to disappoint.
Jenta winked at the Bajoran before she moved on further down the tube to the next junction they would have to take.
Kiran: I appreciate your thoughtfulness Senior. ::he smirked::
Solana: I bet you do. ::She grinned::
She could practically hear Kiran’s joints protesting as the two of them moved through the tubes and she refrained from commenting as such things caught up with everyone eventually. The fact that the station’s alarms abruptly sounded did not bode well.
Kiran: There's one more, just up ahead. Why don’t you go and set it? I’ll keep our part of the network up and running and ensure there aren’t any glitches.
Solana: Alright.
She shimmied down the tube until she reached the precise location to plant the next batch of devices and carefully set them in place so they had a clear line of sight in both directions but weren’t also obvious. When they were planted and activated she heard his voice confirm it.
Kiran: Alright, we’re five by five. Now to make sure the command center is receiving. ::tapping his comm badge:: =/\= Chief Kiran to Commander Raga. =/\=
Raga: =/\= Go ahead, Chief. I take it you’ve planted our backups? =/\=
Kiran: =/\= Aye sir, checking and making sure you’re receiving. =/\=
She scooted back to the other Chief while he conversed with the XO and reclined against the curved wall of the passage.
Raga: =/\= We just left the Command Center, but all the feeds looked good. =/\=
Rork ran his fingers through his salt-and-pepper hair.
Kiran: =/\= Good to know, Commander. What’s next, sir? =/\=
There was a brief silence before a response was given.
Raga: =/\= Regroup at the FOP, on the double. We’re heading there now. =/\=
Jenta idly tapped her fingers on her knee while she let Kiran do the work.
Kiran: =/\= Aye, sir. We’ll head back in your direction. Rork out. =/\= :: He tapped his comm badge to close the connection, turning to Solana.:: You heard the man. Let's head back to HQ and see what it looks like.
She gave her fellow Senior Chief a sultry salute and then gestured towards the nearest route out of the tubes.
Solana: After you.
Kiran: Response
She gave him a coy, innocent smile and a brief flick of her long raven hair.
Solana: Maybe I just want to enjoy the view on the way back? Turnabout, being all fair play and whatnot. But in case you hadn’t noticed, the red alert’s going off so move it.
Kiran: Response
They didn’t get far from the tubes, in fact her shapely rump had barely cleared the hatch when someone ran up to them. A face she did not recognize. The urgency in his step she did however.
Valo: Response
Solana: Well, you heard him, get a move on, old man.
Kiran/Valo: Response
She offered a smirk before the Orion broke into a run towards the FOP.
