((Shuttlebay 1, Deck 9, USS Ronin))

Vomek had arrived back on the Ronin and grabbed a uniform.  He now stood next to one of the smaller Type 9 shuttlecraft, the Olmec.  Poagie entered bay followed by what seemed to be a younger female Ferengi.  Thankfully she was clothed.  Vomek gave a wave and the two approached.

Vomek:  Will this be big enough?

Poagie: It’s not size, Lieutenant, it’s the performance and I think Olmec will do fine.

The type 9 shuttles were known for being spry and much less brick like than a runabout.

The pair walked up and Vomek gave the newcomer a pleasant smile.

Vomek: Who's your friend Poagie?

Gooba Jean: Gooba Jean, pleased ta meet ya.

Poagie: ::through gritting teeth:: my…sis…ter.

Being a lover of languages Vomek had heard the term Gooba.  It was generally an old Terran term for someone who was "cool" or "exceptional".  Vomek would have to wait and see what Gooba Jean turned out to be, but her demeanor was one of exuberance.

Vomek:  Simon Vomek.  Pilot extraordinaire at your service.  What's our destination?

Gooba Jean: None to far, sugar.

Poagie: There’s a slalom course about 3 light years away. ::points:: here. She ::feels a poke:: Uh, We… would like you to take …us there and then run the course a few times. :: another poke:: towing Gooba Jean…behind... outside....on …skis.

Vomek's eyes widened.

Vomek:  You want to do what!?!

Looking at the padd it seemed there was some kind of course that wound through a series of planetary rings and moons that was just big enough for a shuttle to maneuver through.  Apparently, there would be a passenger towed along.  Vomek was not overly worried about the course itself, he'd been in a good share of "extreme" piloting situations, but never dragging a passenger.

Gooba Jean: Well, like Po-Po had told ya, I like to do some skiing.

Poagie shrugged.  Vomek nodded his head to one side.

Vomek: You? ::pause::  Alone?

Gooba Jean was suddenly next to him and had wrapped his arms tightly around his left arm.

Gooba Jean: C’mon, it’ll be fun.

She batted her eyelashes at him. Vomek was tempted to clarify for her that he was Romulan, not Terran.  Batting eyelashes and cute voices might work on Earthling ego's, but Romulan's were proud to be more level headed.

Vomek: Well…

Gooba Jean: Po-Po said you’re a great pilot so I know I’ll be in good hands.

She leaned in closer giving his arm a playful squeeze.  Vomek glanced over at Poagie who looked to be in quite a state.  Given how subdued he was Vomek could only imagine that Gooba Jean could be as sour as she was sweet, which did not bode well for either of them if Vomek was unwilling to assist.  Moreover there was a risk that the might find a less skilled pilot and get themselves all killed.

Vomek: ::skeptically::  How do I know this is all safe?

Gooba Jean: Well, first off the equipment is high quality. Most durable tow rope there is and the skis have state of the art force field projectors :: turns back at Poagie:: not the knock off crap my brother used to try to pawn off on people. ::turns back to Vomek with a sly smile:: And secondly,, I’m very, very good. ::winks again::

Vomek could only imagine the kind of favor Poagie would owe him.  Insider information for FNS, the subtle nuances of Ferengi negations; there was a lot he could learn.  There was also the possibility of black market items that Poagie could obtain.

Vomek: Alright I'm in.

The gentle brush of her lips on his cheek came as quite a surprise, as did the brush of his nose.

Gooba Jean: That’s the spirit, sugar.

The trio turned and entered the shuttle.

((Shuttlecraft Olmec, approaching Slalom course))

The journey had taken only 2 hours and most of the trip was spent in silence or small talk.  Vomek had studied the track of the course.  It was a three dimensional maze through the planetary rings and lunar valleys of a gas giant and it's moons.  There was nothing overly extreme, except that the movement of the matter that made up the rings was not 100% predictable.

Vomek:  Ok.  So explain this to me one more time how does all this work together to ensure you don't end up pasted to the side of a rock?

Poagie/Gooba Jean: Response

Vomek rubbed his chin and glanced at Poagie.

Vomek:  The shuttle has short range transporters.  We'll want to keep a lock on her.  We should also make sure nothing in the debris field or on those moons will interfere with the transporters.

Poagie/Gooba Jean: Response

Vomek:  We'll do 2 runs through the course first.  ::looking at Gooba Jean::  Then you can go.

Poagie/Gooba Jean: Response

Vomek:  For safety reasons I want to make sure I'm able to handle the situation before I drag someone through it.

Poagie/Gooba Jean: Response
