((Harmony Shores Collaborative Resort, Lolagi IV))

Wiping away a few stray tears from her eyes as the flashback faded, Xira exhaled before writing one final thing.

Survivor's guilt.

Xira slowly rose from her seat in the sand, and gave her writing a final, decisive nod.

Akani: There.

Why were there still tears in her eyes?

She noticed T'Alia move to take her hand, and she gave it a soft squeeze in response.

Dohna: ::whispering:: Well done.

Akani: What are you going to write? We've only got two minutes before sunrise.

Dohna: ::biting her lip:: I know.

She watched T'Alia drop to her knees and draw something. It didn't take long for Xira to realise what - no, where - she was drawing.

Akani: The engineering room on the Rose?

Dohna: I go back there a lot. It's like I never really left.

Around them people were moving away from the water and turning their heads toward the horizon which was no much more orange than it had been.

Xira followed her friend quietly as she made her way to the higher part of the beach.

Dohna: Sit? Stand?

Akani: I'd probably say sit.

Xira sat herself down on the sand, one leg crossed over the other, whick remained outstretched toward the shore.

Dohna: ::staring at the horizon:: Jia'kaja, tre'nu'tol'a rem... La'por i'lanu kos... I'nar tan'a'tali nor...

Akani: ::Quietly:: Protect the crew of the Compass Rose, let them not be forgotten… Guide them on their journey through the gates of heaven…

Dohna: Daran tareen.

Akani: Do not let them walk alone…

Xira's prayer came to a quiet end as she gazed out at the horizon, the tide pulling in over the shore, pulling the words and drawings away, slowly but surely. She returned the warm smile her friend gave her.

As the waves washed over her written words, she let out a deep breath, as if the concerns that plagued her had washed themself away.

Akani: Seems like they're hearing us.

Dohna: ::staring at the beach:: Yes it does.

Dohna: ::smiling at her friend:: I know it doesn't make it all go away, but maybe this morning is a good reminder that what we experienced is gone.

A small smile crossed Xira's face, and she exhaled slowly.

Akani: Yeah. Hopefully it makes moving forward a little easier.

Dohna: We can't go back and change it and we probably couldn't avoid it happening again. All we have is right now.

Akani: Yeah. We have a fresh start, and can still remember our crew.

oO And we have our friends. Oo

Xira let out a soft giggle as she felt the surf roll over her feet. She rose from the sand offered a stable hand and a smile as T'Alia yelped and jumped at the sensation.

Dohna: That caught me off guard.

Akani: ::light-heartedly:: Well, the tide did come in.

She watched her friend look around, appearing to observe the other attendees.

Dohna: What do you think? Swim or Snack?

Akani: ::smiling:: I vote swim.

Xira's issues may not have been completely solved, but for the moment, it didn't particularly matter.

For now, what mattered was splashing her friend as the waves rolled in.
