((Sickbay, Deck 10, USS Ronin - in orbit of Gas Giant A, Ross 580 System))
A glance over the rest of the room she saw that Thess was treating one of the rescued scientists or personnel from the moon base. And they did not look happy. But then again, she hadn’t yet seen anyone who was glad to deal with the new surgeon.
Avae: How’s the pain? ::she asked, studying the readouts above his biobed:: Would you like some water or other drink?
O’Connor: Although I hear our new surgeon makes a mean gimlet, I guess we’ll save the other drinks for later. Water will do, but I won’t stop you from putting an umbrella in it.
Avae: Why would your drink need an umbrella?
She asked with a slight tilt of her head.
O’Connor: It’s a human thing. Ask Rox. I’m sure she’ll know.
Avae: Oh, weird. But okay.
She saw Ian point to a spot across Sickbay where the resident royal pain was dealing with a couple of the rescued people from the moon below.
O’Connor: Is that the “kid” who yanked me out of the crawlspace?
She glanced back slightly confused, not having the context or even knowing which of the two he was referring to.
Avae: I don’t know. I haven’t spoken to either of them yet.
O’Connor: Anybody question him yet as to why he was running around trying to shooting at us through the ceiling into the crawlspaces?
Avae: Ian, this is Sickbay not an interrogation room. I’m sure we can clear up any misunderstandings…
O’Connor: Maybe I should say hi.
Ian sat up and grabbed a piece of the jagged rusted metal that Wyla didn’t notice was missing until she noticed it in his hand.
Avae: Hey! No, you get back here and put that down. We didn’t rescue everyone just for you to add lacerations and punctures to the radiation exposure.
She held out her hand towards him like a mom scolding a kid for running with scissors.
O’Connor: It’s okay. I’m not going to hurt the kid…guy…whatever. ::he saw her outstretched hand:: Fine, fine..::he gave up the metal shard:: but consider it a trade for either something to drink besides water or the sponge bath. Besides, it was just going to be a conversation opener anyway.
Avae: Uh huh. More like a people opener.
She quickly secured the piece of metal in a locked cabinet so no one else could grab it, but so it was available if they needed to study it for any reason. She could hear Thess’s usual haughtiness as she moved to catch up to Ian.
De La Croix: Was there something you needed young man? Perhaps a map back to whatever part of the ship you're supposed to be in? Nurse...did this one escape from our mental health holding facility? We really need to have that door reinforced.
A wry smirk crossed the Jem'Hadar's face.
O'Connor: Cute. Maybe slide the egocentricism aside for a bit, your majesty, I was coming over to speak with our “young” guest here.
Kangar: Look, I thought you were more Tholians.
O’Connor: :: out the side of his mouth to Wyla:: Maybe he needs an eye exam too. ::turns back to Kangar:: Do these legs look like a Tholian’s?
Rurat'dari: ::through gritted teeth:: You should have been able to hear me! You know my voice!
Avae: Hey! This is Sickbay, not a theatre. If there’s going to be any shouting or raised voices it’s going to come from the medical staff.
De La Croix: I see. So it seems like the one thing this crew is good at is getting injured. Now I'm starting to understand how Beckie's skills advanced to such a degree...he was constantly working in bulk. Very well...Nurse, we'll need to setup a class four enzymatic scanning array around the artificially juvenile patient over there...we'll need to figure out if there is any of their unaltered DNA left to work with. That one...::she considered what she knew about Jem'Hadar physiology::...you're lucky your breeders liked their doggies tough. Administer twenty CC's of hyronalin and ten of lectrazine...that should be enough to keep your heart beating until we can figure out the rest. On that subject...if you two would like to explain exactly why you thought a nice radiation bath was a good idea now would be the time. We need details if we're going to develop an effective long term treatment regimen.
O'Connor: The radiation, that wasn’t exactly intentional. After I got bit my suit was compromised…then damaged more…then well, shredded I guess. Anyway, we need info from these two right now, so you rubbing me down with decon gel have to wait for a bit. ::winks sarcastically (if there is such a thing)::
Avae: DeCon Gel? That hasn’t been used in centuries. Are you feeling alright?
Rurat'dari: I was working on the gateway at the reactor before it all went awry. Sencha radiation levels were far beyond safe…
Kangar: I gave my statement already. There was an accident.
O’Connor: ::breathes out frustratingly:: Concise. Look kid, we want to help here but…
Kangar sat up aggressively.
Kangar: First of all, I’m not a kid. Second, there were several coinciding factors that led to our “situation”. And third, even if I could explain it all to you, there is no way that you ::points condescendingly:: would understand.
Wyla looked between them and instinctively popped open her medical tricorder to scan the group. She noted a few things almost immediately.
O’Connor: I’m getting a little tired of being talked down to like I’m an idiot. While I am most assuredly the least intelligent one in this current conversation, I still am…
Kangar: There was an accident.
Wyla noted the increased hormonal surge in their Orion helmsman and she moved to the side to quickly prepare a hypo of sedative.
O’Connor: Fine…the hard way.
That was a not something anyone wanted to hear in Sickbay. When she looked back she saw Ian about to do something that would get himself in front of the Captain and their XO whenever they returned.
O’Connor: You like accidents so much, you’re about to have another one. What the h3!! are you hiding?
Rurat'dari: Just tell him already! They know what I did. Tell. Them.
She didn't want him to tell them, but she knew he probably needed to.
Avae: That’s enough! This is not a Tsunkatse arena!
De la Croix: Response
She really thought O’Connor was going to strike the other patient so she quickly moved up behind him and pressed the hypo to the back of his neck with a soft hiss. She made sure to have an arm around him before it kicked in so she could catch him.
Avae: ::brandishing the hypo like a weapon:: Finally. Now I don’t know what you did to make things worse for us while we’re trying to keep your research from devastating the quadrant but you should tell our acting Captain or Chief of Security. Unless you want to get the same.
De la Croix: Response
Wyla carried Ian over to the biobed he had been at previously and realized another person entered Sickbay but she ignored the conversation as she had a patient to deal with.
Avae: Rox!! Can I get your help?
Rox: Response
Avae: Nah, he’s a twig soaking wet. But something off with his readings. I have a theory.
She placed Ian on the biobed and then uploaded her tricorder scans to it, she pointed out the hormonal imbalance she’d registered and then his last routine medical scan.
((small timeskip))
They’d managed to calm things in Sickbay a bit more over the last several minutes which gave Wyla some time to review the comparison between Ian’s last routine medical scans and the ones she’d just taken. There was a clear disparity and elevated hormone levels. She had asked Rox for her help in confirming the results and sadly Thess lingered around to loom over them and impose her superiority complex on their work ethic and methods.
The alerts coming from the helmsman’s biobed was enough to draw her focus and she rushed over to see what was wrong and noted how he was sitting up and conscious. Being no stranger to getting certain looks because of her Antosian beauty she shot Ian a curious smirk.
Avae: Ian, are you alright? Your blood pressure’s spiking.
Rox/De la Croix: Response
O’Connor: Umm, well. I just…it’s…ummm
He couldn’t make eye contact with any of them and she couldn’t help but grin sideways at Rox. The scans she’d taken had shown readings more aligned with an Orion about a decade younger than he was. Testing a theory she leaned down closer so her bodice was more in his view and placed the back of her hand on his forehead.
Avae: You look flushed. And your heart rate is elevated.
Rox/De la Croix: Response
O’Connor: whoah, um. Can you guys just give me a minute?...and maybe a blanket?
It took everything she had to stifle a snort and she straightened to half turn so she could grin at Rox. She was pretty sure they all understood what was happening.
Avae: Well I think that pretty much confirms that our helmsman was de-aged like some of the others. I’d guess about fifteen or sixteen years old comparatively.
Rox/De la Croix: Response
O’Connor: Wait, if this is affecting my emotions and hormones like this, what’s this doing to our 12 year old Vulcan/Betazoid Security Officer? Is T’Fearne ok?
Avae: ::She shrugged slightly:: She did show similar signs, but being part Vulcan she’s better equipped to deal with the upswing of emotions. I think she’s on the bridge.
Rox/De la Croix: Response
O’Connor: She’s on the bridge? ::coincidently he felt the ship shimmy a bit as if they’d just made an evasive maneuver:: I’d better make sure she’s ok then.
Again she watched him bound off the biobed and run out of the room, which elicited an annoyed growl from the Antosian.
Avae: That’s it. From now on, when he’s in Sickbay we’re using restraining fields. I don’t care if he comes in for a splinter in his pinkie. That’s twice he’s gone off like that without being cleared.
Rox/De la Croix: Response
Avae: I’m hoping that whatever the rest of the crew is doing about that out of control whatever it is, will sort out the aging issues among our patients. I don’t think any of us want to have to deal with a hormonal helmsman. And I don’t think they allow blankets on the bridge. ::she grinned at Rox:: We should make a calendar.
She giggled slightly.
Rox/De la Croix: Response
Avae: How are the others?
She gestured to Kangar and by proximity the two others that she believed still stood outside Sickbay in a private conversation. She noticed a medical alert that had some of their people heading to a Transporter Room on Deck Six. Probably having to do with that security alert about an intruder on board.
Rox/De la Croix/Kangar: Response
Avae: I think we might be having more guests soon.
Rox/De la Croix/Kangar: Response
((Since Aduko and Rurat'dari are outside sickbay I didn’t tag them. Added a Kangar tag so we can drift back that way and once the transporter room scene gets the wounded moved we can throw tags for them too.))
