With the Ronin playing possum, a contingent of officers from the Khitomer and Ronin were stationed around Deep Space Thirty-three. Two of them weren’t officers at all, but the might as well be, being a Senior Chief Petty Officer, and they were placing audio and visual devices just in case the Alliance had a burr up its butt and try a boarding raid.
Solana: I agree. Though don’t underestimate the effectiveness of using one’s impression of your weakness against them. It’s one of the reasons I survived on Rigel VIII long enough to be rescued by Starfleet. ::She made sure her own Type 33 CQC rifle was secured and looked at him:: Where to next?
Kiran: Says we need to head to Junction 34 Beta; it has an airlock and a Jefferies tube. Let's make sure what you've installed is working.
She watched him scan her work patiently and gave him room to do so by scooting down the tube a little.
Solana: Doubting my work, Chief? ::She gave him a dangerously demure smile::
He felt the red rise in his cheeks.
Kiran: Not at all, but do you want Raga on your tail for something not working? That’s why we double-check, sorry it’s an engineering thing.
Solana: We can’t sit around all day, there’s a lot of tubes to cover. Even only focusing on those with quick access to sensitive areas of the station. If the other teams are keeping the same pace we should have all the sensors and transporter blockers in place long before any red alert.
Kiran: ::he smirked:: My thought’s exactly. I figured transferring out of engineering would keep me out of the Jeffries tubes, but apparently not.
Solana: Figured you liked the view from back there, so I didn’t want to disappoint.
The Orion winked at Rork and continued down the tube to the next junction, which should be directly over a crossroads in the corridor, outside an airlock, and a possible point of entry. Kiran readjusted his phaser rifle so it didn’t clang about.
Kiran: I appreciate you’re thoughtfulness Senior. ::he smirked::
He reached into a bag and pulled out a couple of visual and audio devices. He placed one of them, the camera, looking straight down at the intersection. He put the audio collector right in the Jeffries tube, so even the slightest noise would be registered.
Solana: RESPONSE
Rork references his PADD again, noticing that they just had one more junction to go. His knees were going to thank him later for finishing in the tubes. He wasn’t getting any younger, and those aches, pains, and such were a gift for a rather active life. You get caught in a couple of explosions that toss you into the air and then drop to the ground.
He shook his head.
Kiran: There's one more, just up ahead. Why don’t you go and set it? I’ll keep our part of the network up and running and ensure there aren’t any glitches.
Solana: RESPONSE
While she placed the last two devices, Rork again referenced his PADD, bringing the network devices online. He pulled up each feed; everything seemed to work as planned.
Kiran: Alright, we’re five by five. Now to make sure the command center is receiving. ::tapping his comm badge;; Chief Kiran to Commander Raga.
Raga: =/\= RESPONSE =/\=
Kiran: Aye sir, checking and making sure you’re receiving.
Again the engineering in Rork looked over the feeds again.
Raga: =/\= RESPONSE
Rork ran his fingers through his salt-and-pepper hair.
Kiran: Good to know, Commander. What’s next, sir?
Raga: =/\= REPONSE =/\=
Rork nodded enough though the commander couldn’t see him, habit more than anything.
Kiran: Aye, sir. We’ll head back in your direction. Rork out. :: He tapped his comm badge to close the connection, turning to Solana.:: You heard the man. Let's head back to HQ and see what it looks like.
Solana: RESPONSE
