With the Alliance beaming out or getting creamed by the Dopplegangers, the gang had a few things to do before they could skedaddle back to the Ronin. While Marty was looking forward to taking a nap, he couldn’t remember the last time he actually slept, and he hoped Rox would understand if he slept for the next week or so. Fatigue was catching up to him as he felt a bit punchy.
Shortrith: ::smiling slightly:: I'm getting somewhere!
Raga/Evinrude: Response
Tucker: Only a few minutes now, it’s just that Juggernaut that’s in our way and that cannon is about five minutes from full power. I’m open to suggestions.
Raga/Evinrude: Response
Shortrith: How much damage do the Alliance ships have?
Tucker: They’ve taken far more damage. They’ve had two ships to worry about and now they’ve called in a juggernaut back-up, which means they’re at their last resort.
Raga/Evinrude: Response
Marty thought about the fact that the Alliance is limping, and then they want to bring in a Sencha juggernaut. It seemed like they were giving up on the capture aspect of their attack, to kill it so no one could have it. Which, honestly, if you’re the Sheliak, would be your only option at this point.
Shortrith: Any chance we could launch a mass attack or something?
Raga/Evinrude: Response
Tucker: We could scrape together every unused system that Narhelion has and reroute power to armor and weapons, if need be. I think we should maybe start finding our way to the exit. And while yes, the Sencha weapon is in play, it takes a while to spin up…
Marty noticed that Shortrith was paying attention to something. She’d seen or felt something and had paused what she was going. Marty looked over each shoulder, nothing. So he wasn’t sure what had her rapt attention.
Shortrith: Hold on… did anyone else catch that?
Tucker: ::puzzled:: Catch what?
Raga/Evinrude: Response
Marty paused and looked back at his console, trying to figure out exactly where they were. The attackers' silence was the first big hint that something wasn’t kosher.
Shortrith: I… I think Narhelion took us home.
Tucker: ::looking at Shortrith:: I do believe you’re correct, because our attackers are no longer in the vicinity. I’d say, we’d made it to the fissure.
Raga/Evinrude: Response
Marty breathed a quiet sigh of relief, no need to worry about that Sencha weapon, one day, one of those things was going to bite the tentative Alliance. They’d witnessed Alliance members turning on each other, who take orders from either side. While he was pretty sure it wasn't going to be enough to split the Alliance, it did put things on a thin sheet of ice.
Shortrith: ::significantly calmer than three minutes ago:: We're through the rift.
Tucker: That’s some of the best news yet.
There was still the issue of finding Quentin, who had been absorbed by the creature for what he hoped was safekeeping; he’d really like to make sure his best friend was alive and well.
Raga/Evinrude: Response
Tucker: I’ll tell you what, I really need out of this contraption. And then a nice long hot shower.
Marty was ready for some down time and to spend a lot of that with Rox, their dates had a way of getting interrupted one way or another and he hoped that trend would come to an end.
