((Cliffside Overlooking a Clearing, Equatorial Latitude, Gamma Stellonis IV))
Seelie: They have been crippled. They will waste energy moving him, and waste medical supplies when they come to a stop…. They know there is danger, but they do not know what that danger is yet. They are on a planet of death. They will not know we are here.
R'nch spat on him, stalking back to the small group of hunters, one of which was making a pathetic attempt to look as though her injuries didn’t hurt. Normally Seelie would have felt some remorse at the loss of a potential ally, but his earlier anger still hadn’t been mitigated. His teeth still craved the taste of blood, and with every moment R’nch wasted, their prey got further away.
R’nch: Look at her...years your junior yet she already knows more about what it is to be a hunter than you ever will.
He extended a claw and pressed against the phaser wound on her hide, and Seelie’s eyes narrowed, feeling a surge of hatred at the smug look on her face. oO She will be the second to die when I take power. Relish his attention while you can, foolish creature, it won’t protect you when I’ve doomed him to a death in anonymity and come for you. Oo
R'nch: That is a hunters strength. That is a hunters resolve. Wear your first scar with pride young one, and let it remind you always of your success...and this fools failure.
Seelie: ::Barely audible:: That ‘hunter’s resolve’ will not save her from this deadly world.
R'nch moved away for a moment, and Seelie took the opportunity to slip closer to the interloper, taking care to memorize her face so he could know what it looked like when she was asleep and vulnerable. Oh, there would be riots if he killed his alpha directly, but one more slit throat among the hunters was barely worth reporting. She would die, and then it would be as though she never existed.
Once again, R’nch interrupted his thoughts as he drew close until his face was centimeters away from Seelie’s, teeth bared.
R'nch: If you wish to live another hour you will bring us three of the creatures hiding in the brush nearby to nourish us. And you will do so quickly...::he yanked the disruptor out of his hands and snapped it across his knee::...and you will not need this. You cannot be trusted with it.
Seelie: ::Sneering:: As you wish it, my Alpha. If something must be done, why do it yourself? ::turning to the hunters:: You-
R'nch held up his hand and the other hunters froze.
R'nch: Just you. I will not have you leading others when you clearly cannot even lead yourself. Go and hunt like a hatchling, do something useful to atone for your failure. Please me and live. Fail us all again and I will set these hunters upon you as another lesson in the cost of your weakness.
Seelie’s eyes widened imperceptibly, though he refused to lower his sneer and let R’nch know he’d been unseated by that. The hunters would follow him if ordered, they would accept the word of the alpha, but he knew he had no allies amongst them. oO A pity that they hold so much pride in being hunters when every one of them is little more than a prop for R’nch’s designs… Oo
R'nch: Or perhaps you think you can convince them of your value with more wordsssss.....
Seelie: ::Still furious:: Oh, my alpha, have you forgotten why you chose me for my position? ::closing the distance a little:: I could tell them of times you’ve needed words.
R’nch: Response
Seelie jerked back, lips curling as he let out a soft hiss. He knew he was toeing the line, and his alpha’s patience had always been thin. He turned, listening to the creatures in the brush, gritting his teeth.
Seelie: Three will be too easy, my alpha.
R’nch: Response
Seelie: ::bristling, but stepping back again:: Very well. But when I have completed my work, I will return to the party where I belong. oO To your side, where I can best maneuver my plans… starfleet has become spooked now, they will not hesitate to open fire on a Gorn hunting party. And, should he stumble into the path of a phaser, all the better….Oo
R’nch: Response
