((Aft Chamber, Narhelion))
Wren: ::To anyone not connected:: It’s sort of like…. I’m connected to Raga, and we’re both connected to the Narhelion. It doesn’t hurt, it’s….. It’s fascinating to me. I’ve never experienced anything like this.
Shortrith: That's fascinating.
Venn: Yes, it is amazing. I have never felt anything like this. I’ve heard of my people doing group mind links, but it’s extremely rare and extremely personal, so I’ve never heard what they experience, but this…
She didn’t have words to continue. It was so amazingly beautiful to her she wondered how she could have ever contemplated killing it. She immediately clamped down that thought, not wanting to scare Narhelion, and resolved she was going to do anything she could to save the magnificent being.
Raga: Response
Wren: ::pointing to parts of the console:: This is translating atmospheric readings, and this part up here is out estimate speed. I can't decipher what the speed is, since I don't know the unit of measurement, but.... ::excited:: These blobs over here are the other away teams!
Shortrith: That's good!
Raga: Response
Shortrith: What's it saying?
Raga: Response
Wren: She’s… oh, she’s trying to fix Tiny Predator. I think when she defended herself earlier the ship got caught in the crossfire.
An instruction poked politely in her mind, and Delphina immediately responded, stabilizing the bio-electrictronic circuits that were running too slowly to compensate for the new activity of repairing the Ronin. Her eyes skipped across the screens, moving things around like she was working with a giant puzzle. oO You’re halfway into hibernation, this might be too much for you to do on your own. There’s a massive power drain that I’m doing what I can to compensate for, but I can’t find the…..huh. Okay, I won’t touch that, that’s fine.Oo
Venn: It’s trying to make contact with Tiny Predator.
Shortrith: As in… Hail the captain?
Venn: Yes, I believe it’s trying to call the Captain.
Narhelion: Hello, Tiny Predator.
Niac: =/\= And hello to you...whomever you are. My name is Karrod...and our ship is the Ronin. We are not a predator...we have no desire to harm you. We wish to make peaceful contact. Can you understand us? =/\=
Shortrith: =/\= ::with a nod:: Captain. I've got the comms open on my commbadge. =/\=
Wren: ::alert:: =/\= We’ve made contact with the Narhelion, sh- =/\= oO Oh, sorry, you want to talk to him yourself. That’s fine! Oo
Raga: Response
Narhelion: Narhelion apologizes to Tiny Predator’s fuzzy Caretaker. Narhelion did not realize Tiny Predator Ronin fragility.
Niac: =/\= Narhelion? Is that your name...or the name of your ship? Either way 'fuzzy caretaker' thanks you, Narhelion. We did not believe you damaged us purposefully. Your energy transfer is also appreciated but doesn't appear to be compatible with our systems...I don't suppose you'd mind deactivating it? =/\=
A brief flash of memory was shown to Delphina, and she nodded seriously, only partially listening to what was going on. A Tholian ship, but they could deal with that later. Right now she’d stabilized the circuitry, and she briefly glanced at Venn’s direction, oO She’s using too much energy on this, and it’s confusing the Ronin’s sensors. Her metabolic processes haven’t woken up yet, so she’s not having an easy time making new energy. Oo
Venn: ~ Narhelion, our systems appear to be incompatible for further healing. Can you please cease so Tiny Predator can resume natural healing from within? ~
Raga: Response
Narhelion: Narhelion has a request. Narhelion is last of my kind. Would Tiny Predator’s fuzzy Caretaker permit Narhelion to take some of Tiny Predator to make a new Narhelion?
Delphina raised an eyebrow, giving a nervous laugh as she realized what the Narhelion meant. oO Well…. That does explain the massive energy drain. You should have said something, sweetheart, I’ll get your metabolism moving so you can provide for the little one. Oo
Her smile faded as something pinged in her mind, and she glanced up. Something was wrong. There were other ships out there, and she didn’t need the senses of a space-whale to know who it probably was.
Narhelion: =/\= Caution. Narhelion has detected approaching. Many more angry crystals and unknown vessels with them. Primary offensive armament still healing. Secondary and tertiary armaments are functional but remain in hibernation state. Primary and secondary defensive functions offline and in hibernation state. Recommend hibernation rescindment as soon as possible. =/\=
Venn: ~ More Tholians! Narhelion must evade and escape! ~
Narhelion: =/\= Please. Narhelion does not want to expire. =/\=
Niac: =/\= We don't want you to expire either, Narhelion. We came to convince you to leave this area of space...but it's too late for that now. Please...wait just a moment. =/\=
Shortrith: If it's any comfort, my friend, I don't think any of us want you to.
Venn: ~ No, Narhelion. They are correct. We want you to live. Please, go before it’s too late. ~
Venn: Incoming!
Delphina gritted her teeth as pain shredded through her body and she gripped the console. Distantly she was aware of multiple systems going off at once, but she was briefly staggered by a mix of pain and anger as she yanked herself upright again. oO Just like in the clinic… it’s not your pain, you’re an island. You’re just feeling it, it’s not real for you…. Oo
Wren: ::Remembering various lessons from her mothers:: I’m initiating an adrenaline rush to block out the worst of the pain. Internal injury, not sure why, there’s damage to the interior ::pointing:: here and here. The fetus is here ::pointing elsewhere:: , it’s far enough away from whatever happened so it’s not been harmed but we need to generate a wall of hard, naturally calcified tissue over the chamber it’s located in just in case something else happens. I’m kickstarting that process. oO Remember that this is a temporary protection. I’m increasing the level of fluid in the chamber to create a natural airbag, but when the danger is over you need to reabsorb the calcium, because otherwise you’ll experience bone loss. Oo
Raga/Narhelion: Responses
Kel: =/\= Kel to Raga. The creature's been hit by some kind of missile. I'm standing in the middle of a massive wound. What's your situation? =/\=
Raga: =/\= Response =/\=
De La Croix: =/\= Well that's all very nice for you then but we have a patient here who needs immediate care or this wound could be fatal. I was already detecting decreasing levels of cellular energy in this whole area and now...much of this tissue is dead or dying. If this creature is to survive we'll need significant resources...uh...hello...ship? Madam Narhelion I presume? I want to help you but I'll need quite a few things from our vessel to even get a start on it. =/\=
Shortrith: How can we help you?
Wren: I’ve shored up the baby as much as I can, and- ::pulling her PADD out:: I’m taking this out of airplane mode. The captain now has a visual of her life signs, she gave permission.
Raga/Narhelion: Response
Shortrith: I'm not sure how much we could do, but I'm willing to help however I can to settle this issue, and make sure you turn out okay.
Venn: ~ Narhelion, stay with us. I know it hurts, but we want to heal you like you helped heal Tiny Predator Ronin. Let the Caretakers assist. Can you resist the Angry Crystals? ~
Raga/Narhelion: Response
Delphina watched her processes finish, her own heart pounding out of her chest. She appreciated the presence of the Narhelion so much, but it did have the unfortunate side effect of leaving her feeling as though she were the one under attack.
Venn: ~ Resist, Narhelion. Tiny Predator can help fight the Angry Crystals, but Fuzzy Caretaker needs your help too. Talk to us and tell us what you need. ~
Raga/Shortrith/Narhelion: Responses
Venn: =/\= Captain, Lieutenant Venn here. How is the ship? Are the forces overwhelming, or is there a chance to resist? I am trying to convince Narhelion to help resist, but it is very wounded. =/\=
Wren: ::leaving her PADD plugged in and hurrying over to another console:: =/\= Her weapons system is reacting badly to the internal damage, until she has that repaired I don’t see her pulling of another full-frontal attack like before.
Niac: =/\= Response =/\=
Distantly, Delphina realized that T’Fearne had joined them, but it felt like she was in bad shape. oO Probably not the best time to reach out. At least we have two doctors with us… Oo
Kel/Raga/Shortrith/Narhelion: Responses
Tucker: =/\= We’ve lost Doctor Beck. =/\=
Delphina went very still. She hadn’t noticed. She hadn’t even noticed the sudden absence of his mind, the Narhelion was blocking all that extra noise that would have told her that someone was gone. Delphina didn’t know if he was dead, or lost, or….she didn’t even know what. oO….Do we know how? Do you know how?? Oo
Narhelion/Kel/Shortrith/Raga: =/\= Response =/\=
Narhelion: ~ Caution. ~ ::there was a somber wail:: ~ Please. Narhelion does not want to expire. ~
Delphina’s mind snapped back to clarity at the clear request. She would deal with her feelings on Beck later, they didn’t matter right now. She didn’t matter right now. What mattered was getting the Narhelion and her baby out of this alive.
