((Salt Caverns, Endicronimas V))
Dohna: It is not logical for us to blame ourselves. We did what we could under the circumstances. No one could ask for more than that.
She tried to sound upbeat and calm, but the truth was she had never attempted Kolinahr. She felt the fear creep back in. It was as if she was right back in the hallway struggling against her body even as the rest of the crew fell apart. She felt her eyes getting watery.
Dom: Oh no! Sir—uh, T'Alia. I didn’t mean—please don’t cry. If you cry, I’ll start crying and the reputation of the thermal pool will be ruined.
Holley: Response
Akani: They… They didn't leave us.
T'Alia honestly was not sure what to say and so for the next few minutes, she said nothing, but felt a steady stream of tears roll down her cheeks. Her mother would surely find it strange that this activity, crying, made her feel somehow better. Then again her mother was very smart, perhaps she'd understand better than T'Alia gave her credit for. It was As her tears subsided, T'Alia found herself wanting it to continue, but the time had passed and now she felt strangely calm. No doubt the result of endorphins being released. She took a deep breath.
Dohna: I don't know how to say this, but now I'm hungry.
Dom: Just like that was fine, sir.
Akani: I'm… kinda hungry too.
Holley: Response
Dohna: Well I wouldn't say no to some hasprit. What about you Xira? Is hasprit a comfort food for you as well?
Akani: Yeah… Though I'll be honest, the replicated stuff doesn't come close at all to the stuff my parents made on Bajor
Holley: Response
Dom: I could do with some hot polską herbatę i ciasteczka. ::slipping into polish:: The rum on an empty stomach might’ve been a mistake.
T'Alia wasn't sure what the crewman was saying, but if she had a dish to share, she'd be more than happy to try it.
Dohna: My father likes it extra spicy. I can't even eat it when my grandmother makes it.
T'Alia felt her tongue tingle at the thought of her grandmother's very spicy cooking. She needed extra water whenever she ate with them and her mother needed to take an antacid beforehand.
Akani: H-How'd she make it? ::to Dom:: I'm up for getting food if you guys want to as well.
Dom: ::raising the flask:: Na zdrowie. Let's go then. I would like to try your culture's food, if we can find somewhere that serves it.
Holley: Response
Dohna: It's not for the faint of heart. ::looking at Xira:: I think she may have used Terran Cayanne.
Akani: It'll be nice to share food with people who are willing to try it.
Dom: You can tell me more about the idea to join the Ronin. I’m not convinced yet, but I'm not saying no either. Just have a few personnel issues to consider. Do you think the Rosie will be decommissioned after all this? The pech—uh, the bad luck clings to her.
The quartet began to walk toward the exit of the cave. She had not considered the fate of the Rose, but could not imagine how it could be salvaged. So much death surely would put a new crew ill at ease.
Akani: I… Don't know if there's much else to say, really.
Dohna: Perhaps they'll try to salvage some of the components.
Holley: Response
Akani: I… Yeah, I suppose so…
T'Alia wondered if she could get any souvenirs if they did scrap the ship. Perhaps a piece of the warp core or one of the nacelles. It would be a fun piece to have when she told the story.
Dom/Holley: Response
Dohna: I wonder how long it will take for Starfleet to get a full picture of what happened. Even now I'm sure I'm only seeing about half the picture.
Akani: Will you guys ever tell the people from home about all that happened? Like, what really happened?
It was a good question and it made T'Alai feel queasy. She'd related it so many times now to officers, doctors and counselors that she seemed almost disconnected from it. Like it was something she watched rather than something she lived through.
Dohna: I'm honestly not sure. I usually tell my parents everything ::apprehensive:: but this ::pause:: It's not a place I want to take them.
T'Alia's family, whether her mother admitted it or not, worried about her. Telling them about this, in all its detail would only make that worse, especially if she decided to join the Ronin crew and keep serving. There was also the fact that it would be highly upsetting and in that way it would traumatize them.
Dom/Holley: Response
Akani: Honestly, I… I can't bear to tell my family what happened. It's… ::pauses walking and turns back to the group:: They won't understand like you do.
Dohna: The humans have "support groups" for when people encounter a common struggle. Perhaps that is what we are.
Dom/Holley: Response
They now came to the entrance of the cave. The sun shown down blindingly so that it took T'Alia's eyes a few moments to adjust. The warmth embraced her and she could smell salt in the air. Greenery flourished all around in the way of large ferns and palm trees.
Dohna: Wow, and I thought the cave was nice.
Akani/Dom/Holley: Response
She moved her hands to shield her eyes and looked all around them. Nearby were a few small huts.
Dohna: Perhaps those huts have something to offer?
Akani/Dom/Holley: Response
