((Bridge, Deck 3, USS Ronin))
Jack's duties as Chief of Security and Chief Tactical officer felt like he was pulled in every direction possible some days. Security was or at least should be the more quite part of the job. Essentially law enforcement aboard the Ronin security was there to enforce shipboard regulations and both Starfleet and Federation law as well as protect the crew from hostile threat. While his role in Tactical provided more oversight of the shipboard offensive and defensive systems. This shoreleave had seen more Security work than he had envisioned but so far no one had spent the night in the brig so he called that a wash.
Tactically speaking, the Ronin was ready for anything that could be thrown at them. He had crawled over and through every offensive system and defensive grid spot checking his own teams repairs as well as engineering. He knew Tucker and his team were thorough and he did not doubt their work but at the same time, Jack left nothing for chance. Another set of eyes to confirm everything was in tip top shape was simply helpful.
During his review of the secondary afterphaser coupler, there had been an announcement for all crew to return to the Ronin for departure. This was unusual as the ship was still listed to be on shore leave for a bit longer. This meant something more important was calling the Ronin into ready status. Curious and technically off duty, Jack decided the best place to be for a last minute recall was of course the bridge and that was where he was arriving when he found V'Len and Toryn already in conversation.
Kel: I' m sorry all you got was disciplinary problems from Sickbay. :: walking over to where Raga stood:: Where are we heading in such a hurry?
Kessler: Commander's ::nodding to each as he approached:: Where's the fire?
Anyone: Response
Raga: Not sure, but it’s need to know. The Captain’s going to fill us in once everyone’s on board and we’re underway. Same for the usual ceremony. We’re doing it en route. A bit unusual for us barring distress calls, so whatever it is Starfleet Command has us doing it must be urgent. And the secrecy suggests SFI is in the loop.
Jack noted the look on V'Len's face and it simply said this did not bode well. Of course why would it? Since Jack's arrival in the Alpha Isles it had been one fight after another and a sudden recall like this generally did not mean they were going on a leisure cruise.
Kel: ::unenthusiastic:: Great. ::pause:: Pity for the crew. I had hoped to see some of them awarded for their performance on the Ross-580 disaster.
Kessler: ::nodding:: Or at least letting them get a little more fresh air.
Anyone: Response
Jack continued to stand near Raga as V'Len turned and went to glance over Nicolau's shoulder. Jack looked back to Raga and then turned towards his Security/Tactical station on the port side of the bridge and stepped over, he slid down into the seat and keyed in a sequence that would bring up the sensors and tactical analysis of the region. They were still in orbit but Jack could get a head of the proverbial game if he knew the flight path they were about to disembark on.
Kel: Where are we headed?
Kessler: Any threat analysis I should be running Commander?
Raga had said it was a need to know basis and is SFI was involved they typically kept that stuff tight to the chest but he would ask anyways. Anything, little or small about what they were walking into was relevant in Jack's head when it came to keeping to his crew safe.
Raga/Nicolau/Any: Response
Kel: ::shrugging his shoulders:: Not a vessel I'm familiar with.
oO USS Goodall? Oo Jack quitely keyed the name into his console as like V'Len, the vessel name did not ring a bell. A few moments elapsed and the LCARS screen popped up what should have been the relevant information about the ship. However, like most things dealing with SFI, the readout simply stated "File Classified". oO Of course it is. Oo
Kessler: Nor have I heard of it Commander. Seems like we have spooks coming to dinner.
Raga/Nicolau/Any: Response
Kel: Looks like we've got about 80% of the crew back aboard. Still missing Commander Tucker.
Jack caught what V'Len had said and let it hang in the back of his head as he ran his systems checks for the tenth time this week. Shore leave getting cancelled early was not a good thing and all Jack could foresee ahead of them was danger and most likely some sort of fight. Torpedos, Launchers, Phasers, Shields, all systems indicated back to him they were green across the board. His fingers tapped over the secondary back up generators to the shields and awaited the diagnosis. At the same time he ran a head count on his Security personnel and there locations. A few still remain on the planet below. He furrowed his brow, his security teams should have been the first people back. oO This means a drill or two for them on what I expect. Oo
Kessler: Offensive and defensive systems at your ready Commander. Back up systems are showing at peak readiness if needed from a Tactical point.
Raga/Nicolau/Any: Response
Jack nodded without turning back to see the XO's face. He understood the comment and hoped himself not to have to go into battle. So far from what he had seen of the Alpha Isles, that was a tall request to make.
Kessler: Agreed Commander.
Raga/Nicolau/Kel/Any: Response
Jack spun around in his chair and grinned at V'Len.
Kessler: Well, you know me. I sometimes just stumble into trouble.
Raga/Nicolau/Kel/Any: Response
At least the bridge crew could have a sense of humor and Jack appreciated that. A team who could joke under pressure and perform at the levels this crew did was hard to find. Jack for the second time in his career had been fortunate to land on a ship of officers that had time and mental strength under their collective belts to adapt to any situation with no real issues. That was a testament to the ships command teams and Jack knew that was something he would have to refocus on as well. Maybe after his ran his security teams through the paces for not being the first back on the ship.
Kessler: ::turning back to his console:: I always aim to misbehave if I can. I mean behave.
Jack looked over to the helmsman and through Nicolau a grin and a wink. oO Yeah, lets aim to misbehave is actually TK's moto but I'm stealing it today. Oo
