((Shuttlecraft Olmec, approaching Slalom course))
The course itself as not overly challenging for the Olmec to move through. The distance between the various objects was not too narrow and the visibility was good. There were obstacles floating through the run, but they were stationary so maneuvering around them was the same every time. More complicated however, was predicting when to turn so that the skier would be able to dodge the obstacle. Vomek suspected that Gooba Jean want both speed and close turns that would keep things entertaining and challenging. After two runs Vomek was satisfied that he could make the run in a way that would get both the Olmec and Gooba Jean through it. Coming to a stationary location at the beginning of the course he turned back to see Poagie helping Gooba Jean get ready. The Ferengi girl herself slide of the robe she'd been wearing to reveal a two piece outfit that looked a lot like underwear.
Vomek: You're skiing in that?
Poagie was beaming one of the small, robotic Exocomps into space. Once done he handed Gooba Jean an ostentatiously decorated helmet.
Gooba Jean: Oh, It’s only ‘cause my brother’s here usually I ski naked.
She winked at Vomek who tried to stay as still as possible not wanting to look like he was considering the image she'd put in his head.
Vomek: ::casually:: That's very kind of you. I'm sure Poagie appreciates it.
Poagie in the meantime was busy finishing final checks on all the equipment.
Gooba Jean: All right then, beam me out.
As Poagie worked the transporter controls Gooba Jean disappeared and was replaced by the Exocomp. On the monitor Poagie's sister appeared drifting in space holding the tow line that now extended from between the nacelles of the Olmec.
Poagie: =/\= Comm check. Gooba Jean are you ready to go? =/\=
Gooba Jean: =/\= As ready as a Vulcan during pon…=/\=
The incoming comm channel closed and Vomek tried to stifle a laugh.
Poagie: =/\=Okay, got it. Stand by.=/\=
Vomek: ::observing:: You're sisters very interesting Poagie. Bit of a free spirit eh?
Poagie: The things you do for family.
Vomek was an only child, but family bonds were nothing new to him. His mother and uncle together raised him on Earth along with his cousins. They had their differences, but to everyone outside they were a tight unit with aligned goals.
Vomek eased himself into the pilot seat. They had clearance to move out and Vomek did one last check the shuttles before opening up the engines to half impulse.
Vomek: Here we go!
The Olmec surged ahead and twisted around two large bodies of floating rock before pitching up through a tunnel which swung right and then left through a large asteroid.
Poagie/Gooba Jean: Response
Vomek: Alright.
He opened the throttle more as the shuttle exited the asteroid at 3/4 impulse. Vomek guided them over, under and around a series of 12 astroids and then turned the shuttle into a narrow channel between two planetary rings. On either side glittering fields of ice flew past them.
Poagie/Gooba Jean: Response
Vomek gritted his teeth, but pushed the shuttle to full impulse. Several artificial rings came toward them rapidly and Vomek strained at the controls to push the shuttle through them without getting Gooba Jean too near them.
Vomek: How do her arms not come off?
Really the greater question was how the small covering she wore managed to stay in place.
Poagie/Gooba Jean: Response
The Olmec rolled out of the loops and pitched down toward a long lunar canyon.
Vomek: I should have made her sign a waiver.
Poagie/Gooba Jean: Response
