((Shuttlecraft Carl Sagan, near Deep Space 33))
Ian gritted his teeth, slowed their turn a bit and the shuttle rocked. He tapped at his console and the cabin went completely dark.
O’Connor: Now, we wait...and hope we don't get blown to paste.
Beck/Breeze/Singh: Response
It took a moment for Snowball and Scuttles to complete the intricate maneuver but they did it to perfection. When all was said and done they’d taken out the two alliance fighters and the Sagan was still in one piece.
Ian powered the shuttle back to full to the sound of alarms blaring. Most he ignored but the power spiking from the S-wave weapon on the cannon ship pointed at Ronin drew the most concern.
O’Connor: Doc that cannon is powering up again. There’s no way Ronin or Kitty takes another whack from that. Any ideas?
Beck: Response
O’Connor: We could go all Decker versus Doomsday Weapon on it, but I’d prefer not to die if possible.
Beck: Response
O’Connor: I know, not my best idea but unfortunately not my worst. We’ll file under last resort and maybe we could figure a way to beam us out somewhere before the cataclysmic explosion.
Beck: Response
O’Connor: Wait, hold on. Huge power shifts in Ronin and Kitty. Looks like they are trying the same counter shot.
It was too late now to try anything else. Ian quickly banked away and reinforced shields as the cannon fired. He engaged the tractor beam as well pushing the two fighters along just slightly in front of them.
What happened next was nothing short of spectacular. Along with the beam from the Khitomer hitting the same place and crossing the streams, explosions moved like waves across the beach along the top hull of the gunship. Just after the beam left the deflector dish, it exploded in a shower of sparks and flame. The Ronin rocked, causing it to list in one direction, no longer facing the large ship.
As the gunship exploded in fury, Ian banked into the wave. Trying to ride it instead of being smashed from the side. The Sagan with the two fighters now slightly in tow, surfed just ahead of the wave, dipping in and out.
Ian swore. One slight wrong twitch now and he’d lose a fighter or they’d get crested or about a million other unappealing outcomes.
As they rode the wave Ian noticed the trajectory and swore again.
He swore again as the Ronin kept getting larger in the viewscreen.
O’Connor: Doc, brace yourself. If I change course we all go splat. Hopefully, we only glance her.
Beck: Response
O’Connor: =/\= Snowball, Scuttles, sorry I didn’t have time to explain before hijacking you. I gotta cut you loose or we all go flies on a windshield. Gonna fling you behind Ronin, hopefully they’ll block most of the shock wave. =/\=
He glanced his eyes at Quentin.
O’Connor: Doc, shift the tractor beam slightly around here :: points quickly:: and then abruptly cut it on my mark.
Beck: Response
Ronin’s underside almost enveloped the whole forward viewport.
O’Connor: Now!
Beck: Response
The two fighters’ momentum carried them up and behind Ronin. Sagan continued forward just scraping the front underside forward section of Ronin's hull as it passed.
The shockwave then pummelled them all..
Beck/Gra’vel/Singh: Response
