((Shuttlecraft Kepler, Shuttlebay, Deck 9, USS Ronin))
Ian let out a long sigh and a stretch as he pulled himself out from under the pilot’s console and began to stand back up. He had no concept of how much time had passed but it seemed like too much so figured he’d better check in with the bridge. Hopefully nothing too crazy happened.
He was about to tap his comm badge when he heard grumbling from Poagie at the small console behind him. While that wasn’t unusual, this time Ian took notice because the Ferengi seemed to be mumbling real science words and the frustration appeared to actually be work related.
Ian tilted his head toward the science officer.
O’Connor: What’s up?
Poagie: These readings. I still can’t …
O’Connor: Hold up a sec.. I should probably catch back up with the bridge.
Ian turned stepped outside the shuttle and was about to tap his badge when he noticed Wren, Shortrith, Kessler and Kel all approaching in the midst of conversation
Shortrith: … just got here. We're just going to get more scans of the temporal anomaly.
Kessler: Any special equipment aside from the standard you want with us Commander?
Shortrith: I'm happy to grab more scanning equipment and more sophisticated medical gear.
Ian gave a what’s going on kinda look toward Kel
Kel: Response
O’Connor: Surveying the system? Right, right. We need to eliminate that the system isn’t the problem and get baselines for here. Got it.
He felt like an idiot for missing that in the beginning.
Kel: Response
O’Connor: Yeah, as silly as it sounds, I lost track of time. We have the Kepler almost prepped.
Kessler: Well personally, I would prefer a larger ship with maybe some Borg enhanced shields and temporal shielding but since we don't seem to have any, I guess this will have to do.
O’Connor: Well it’s not quite that good but we’ve added some precautions. We still want to finish modifying a couple more probes as gravity well generators to be able to deploy like an emergency brake and anchor. We’re thinking, based on what we know so far, that 6 of these micro generators surrounding us should hold the Kepler in the here and now.
Kel: Response
O’Connor: We’ll still need a few more minutes to finish off and run a diagnostic cycle and a couple of simmula…
Ian tailed off seeing Kel’s look.
oO Ok no time for simulations. Oo
O’Connor: Nevermind, We can run those in flight.
Wren: :: To herself:: At least we’ll have plenty of room… ::Out loud:: I have an Engineering pack with me, is there anything else I need?
O'Connor: ::raises eyebrows and smiles slightly:: Religious idol of your preference? We’ll probably need all the prayers we can get.
Kessler/Kel/Shortrith: Response
Ian nodded his agreement. That could be handy.
Wren: Understood, I’ll make sure that’s brought aboard.
Kessler/Kel/Shortrith: Response
Ian was about to head into the shuttle when Shortrith’s badge sounded.
De La Croix: =/\= Sickbay to Doctor...Shortbread. This is Doctor Thessolonia De La Croix. It seems you've forgotten to check in with me. =/\=
Ian tilted his head. He didn’t recognize the new voice.
Shortrith: =/\= It's Doctor Shortrith, and I set up a meeting to check in with you when you first joined the ship. It should have shown up in your notes. =/\=
Ian watched on as Renaie groaned under their breath and turned and grimaced to the others.
Kel/Kessler/Wren: Response
De La Croix: =/\= Well try to be a bit more interesting next time and I just might be able to remember it. So what's all this nonsense with the lights? The candy striper you have working down here doesn't know a thing. =/\=
oO Charming. Oo
Shortrith: =/\= We're at yellow alert. There is some temporal stuff happening and the usual captain and first officer are dead. ::coldly:: And don't you dare speak about any of the medical staff like that again.=/\=
Renaie paused, a small smirk crossing their face. They gave a knowing look to the others in the room.
Shortrith: =/\= Actually, please meet me in shuttle bay 1. We're going on an expedition and I think your assistance would be appreciated. =/\=
O’Connor: ::Ian went wide eyed and mouthed at Jack and Kel:: Who the heck is this woman?
Kel/Kessler/Wren: Response
Renaie rolled their eyes as they heard a scoff over the line.
De La Croix: =/\= Me, on a ship even smaller than this one? I hardly realized such a thing existed. What am I to do, nurse an amoeba back to health? =/\=
Shortrith: =/\= We're conducting scans on the temporal anomaly with a finer-toothed comb than what the probes conduct. ::to Kessler and Kel, still on comms:: I've got that right, yes? =/\=
Ian gave them a thumbs up.
Kel/Kessler/Wren/De La Croix: Response
Shortrith: =/\= I don't care, Doc. Get to shuttle bay 1 as soon as possible. Shortrith out. =/\=
Kel/Kessler/Wren/De La Croix: Response
O”Connor: :: rolling eyes:: This doesn’t seem like it will complicate things more at all.
Renaie firmly ended the commline before smirking at the others, a glimmer of slight mischief in their eyes. The pretentious Doctor would actually get some field experience.
Shortrith: Well, it looks like we have a volunteer for the trip.
O’Connor: And I think I have the perfect seatmate for her. ::gestures to Ensign Poagie who’s been standing in the shuttle hatchway::
Kel/Kessler/Wren/Shortrith: Response
Ian smiled at Poagie as walked past him and entered the shuttle
O’Connor: Let’s finish this up. Tweak those last 2 probes and I’ll put the front panel back together. Apparently we’re going for a ride. Oh, and freshen up before we take off. You play your cards right and you could be a Duke by the end of the mission.
Ian slid back under the pilot’s station panel leaving Poagie speechless for one of the only times in his life.
Kel/Kessler/Wren/Shortrith: Response
