((Chief Science Officer's Office, Science Complex, Deck 10, USS Ronin))
Shortrith: It would. An accident of that magnitude would possibly be a permanent point in which one remembers. How did you feel when it happened?
V'Len did not often go back in his mind to the day of his accident since he'd joined the Ronin. When he was on the Thor and the Ronin, the memoires were fresher and he did go back to them often, but the accident had soon been overshadowed by the trauma of having his heart severely damaged and being replaced by a cardiac inducer.
Kel: What do you mean? I guess ::stopping:: I felt confused, scared. Everyone was running around there was a lot of chaos.
Shortrith: When an event that changes someone's life occurs, the brain tends to remember it as a critical thing that happened in one's timeline.
V'Len's antennae continued to squirm and it felt oddly as if the room were tipping.
Shortrith: Are you okay, sir?
V'Len placed his palms on the table firmly. He felt as if he was drifting backwards due to spinning quickly. He knew he was still of course, but it seemed that his antennae had forgotten or were at least telling his brain something different.
Kel: Oh I'm fine. My antennae are meant to help with balance, among other things, but when they get moving too fast they can cause some disorientation.
Shortrith: Is this… ::trying to find the right word:: a new thing? Were you off-balance?
V'Len remembered the time he and Jack and Nesre had been walking in the woods. It had been fun exploring the monastery and hiking around the grounds. He'd found some interesting fungi and then quite suddenly he'd nearly fallen over. He'd managed to catch himself on a tree, but Nesre had not missed it. It seemed Renaie had not missed it either.
Kel: They've always done this, maybe the Andorian and Trill physiologies don't quite mix right.
Shortrith: I haven't read anything about it, but that doesn't necessarily mean that something like that topic hasn't been researched.
The counselor was silent for a moment and V'Len wondered if purposefully leaving space for him to respond.
Kel: Trust me when I say I've done extensive research. Trill/Andorian hybrids are something of a rarity and myself perhaps more so as my road to hybrid status was unique.
V'Len stopped talking for the moment.
Shortrith: Apologies, I distracted myself. Anyway, back to the conversation at hand. How did you find yourself coping after this mission?
oO Thank you! Oo
The counselor was changing the subject. V'Len felt his mind and his antennae slow down. He noted his breathing had slowed some and he quickly put two fingers on his carotid artery. As usual the surging of his pulse was there.
Kel: It's nice to have thing back to normal again. I'm mostly glad we all made it back. I wasn't expecting quite so intense an experience.
Renaie nodded sympathetically.
Shortrith: Did you find any solace in the fact that the Niac and Raga from our timeline was still alive? I understand that any form of seeing people you care about explode usually causes significant distress, no matter if you see them alive later.
V'Len was silent for a moment.
Kel: I think I always thought it was our Raga and Niac. That they'd somehow traveled back in time so we could avert a disaster. Thinking it was really them certainly kept me motivated to succeed.
Shortrith: Response
V'Len sat back in his seat.
Kel: I will admit to being pleased that the crew was willing to follow my lead and that I was able to get the reactor into a safe state.
Shortrith: Response
Kel: If I could be so bold I also appreciated your leadership of Medical. You managed to wrangle Rox and De La Croix. That's no small feat.
Shortrith: Response
Kel: If they ever, Koala frobid, give me a command, I'd certainly welcome you if you were interested.
Shortrith: Response
