What was it about ancient Earth music that allowed it to spread so far across the Federation? It was hard to say, but he was certain that his own particular tastes were not nearly as pervasive as a lot of the garbage that gained popularity, particularly on Betazed. Ironic, Cecil thought to himself, as the name of the song he was currently listening to was titled ‘If it sucks, turn it up’. There was just something so satisfying about ugly, messy, sloppy punk rock. It was the way it didn’t care about norms, traditions, or being proper. It was like an amalgamation of desperate revolution and frustrated revulsion. It suited him.

Bonus, blasting it at ear drum crushing volume was the best way to focus his particularly sensitive empathic senses. He pulled out the small ear pieces that had helped him survive the academy with all of its test nervous cadets and pride soaked student pilots. Even made of metal, the wear on them was visible.

Shoving them in his pocket, he pulled the hood of his jacket back and scanned the corridor of the station with his void black eyes. He waved a hand through his meticulously messy hair and shifted the heavy pack on his shoulder as he passed an officer moving purposefully in the opposite direction. The feelings of nervousness wafting off of him tinged with classic Starfleet resolution reaffirmed his suspicion that something was about to go down. He might have guessed based on the third degree he got just trying to clear his shuttle.

Arriving at his designated coordinates, he rubbed a hand over what could be seen of his black rose neck tattoo and stepped inside, addressing those in the room.

Valo: Commander Raga?

Raga: Response

He let his bag drop and stiffened his posture as was expected when reporting to a senior officer. All the while, his eyes moved calmly and methodically around the room. He took in each individual and assessed the general layout, trying to get a feel for the situation.

Valo: Aye. Ensign Cecil Valo, reporting for duty.

Raga/MacKenna/Stergis: Response

He listened and offered a faint grimace and a nod.

Valo: Sounds like someone better issue me a weapon then.

Raga/MacKenna/Stergis: Response
