((Duplicate Sickbay, The Reef))
Jovan knew that if he had to visit Sickbay for an injury, it was likely he would get cautioned about his medical attendance. He also knew that on a starship things were a bit different. There were less people in the crowd to blend into. At the academy there were so many different medical officers he could con. Even if he tried his tricks here, there were too few doctors on the ship for him to really be able to juggle them. At the same time his logic brain and impulse brain did not always see eye to eye. Logic? Go to the exam. Impulse? Nope. This was not the first time he had received the speech, and probably wouldn't be the last if history had anything to do with it.
Cerisor: Oh. It's not us, nor Commander Raga, or even Captain Niac you need to worry about. We're the nice ones. If Nurse Rox or Dr. De La Croix find out you've been skipping out on your checkups, it'll be more than a chewing out. I suspect you'll have to be quite creative to avoid their ire. Sprained neck, and a hairline fracture of the clavicle. I'm impressed you're up and walking around, Ensign. You must be pretty tough.
Genestra: Tough isn't a term I'd use, but I will definitely take it today. ::letting out a slight chuckle::
Jovan caught the other medical officer tending to his clavicle out of the corner of his eye. Taking the cold pack as they offered it, he applied it.
Shortrith: As long as you're alive, we should be able to help you out.
Cerisor: Response.
Genestra: So, as far as duty goes...I'm cleared, right?
Cerisor: Response
Shortrith: Medically? Yes. But speaking from a counsellor's perspective, there's one more thin.
Genestra: Right now, I feel like I've been sidelined long enough. I'd agree to hourly check-ins at this point just to get cleared for duty.
Shortrith: I'm going to need to schedule you in for a counselling session with me at some point.
Counseling was the one thing worse than medical doctors. It was even worse when it was the counselor that told you that you needed counseling. When he started to combine all of the different facts, adding in their higher rank, his internal feelings completely changed. Happy and excited went out the window. He began to feel anxious and on the defensive. But he was a master class actor, never letting his exterior even show a glimpse of the internal change.
Cerisor: Response
Shortrith: I'd suggest doing it while I've got you, but I would be breaking patient confidentiality ethics with there being people in the room.
Cerisor: Response
Genestra: I have a list of things to do at the moment, so if I'm cleared medically...perhaps we can do counseling another time? oO Second Tuesday of next week? Oo
Shortrith: Ideally, some time within the next few days.
Cerisor: Response
It was an odd feeling. Combat did not make Jovan anxious. No tactical situation has ever made him feel this way. He would walk through fire for his shipmates. If any of them were in trouble, he would be there without question. There were only two things that made him feel this vulnerable. The first was doctors of any type. The idea of facing his own mortality was not something he was interested in. As far as the head shrinkers went, he had a system that he felt worked. He internalized everything. Jovan dealt with what he could and buried the rest. Was it healthy? No. And he wasn't naive enough to think it was, it was just his system. The other thing that made him uncomfortable was close personal relationships. They made him feel just as anxious and nervous as doctors did, but in a slightly calmer way. It had nothing to do with his mortality, so that eased the tension a bit.
Genestra: I'm sure I'll have more time then.
Jovan returned the smile offered by the Klingon doctor.
Shortrith: Any questions for us while you're here?
Cerisor: Response
Genestra: I think I'm all set. ::sliding off the biobed:: Thank you both again. ::bowing slightly::
Cerisor/Shortlith: Response
His first instinct was to dart out of Sickbay as fast as his legs would take him. Overcoming it, he remined for a moment. These were, after all, his new crewmates. The likelihood that he would see them again was almost certain. He turned to the Bajoran medical officer.
Genestra: Ensign Cerisor, it was good to meet you.
Cerisor: Response
Genestra:::turning back to the Klingon officer:: Lieutenant, it was a pleasure.
Shortlith: Response
Genestra: I'll be in touch for that appointment.
Shortlith: Response
With a quick nod, Jovan moved toward the door to Sickbay and on to his next task. Of course he had no intentions on following up for the counseling appointment. Perhaps they would forget, or leave the ball in his court. Maybe they would be too busy and he would just fall through the cracks. Right now, it was a problem for 'Future Jovan' to worry about. Right now, he had to get acclimated to his duties and the ship he would be serving on
END for Jovan
