((Corridor, Deck 10, USS Ronin))

Quiet. That’s how the ship felt as he walked through the corridors of Deck 10. Sylara, his Seiuri owl perched on his left shoulder while he walked, still missing a wing, he hoped now that they were at a Federation facility again he might get that sorted. He made a mental note to contact the Bynars on the USS Constitution-B soon to speak about a prosthetic for her since one of them specialized in such things for animals.

Toryn glanced up to look at said avian when he felt a slight bump against him. He’d let himself be distracted enough he hadn’t noticed the footfalls approaching him. He looked down at the Klingon counselor and immediately felt that wave of disgust he had to force back down.

Shortrith: Huh- Apologies, Commander Raga. I didn't see you there.

Raga: It’s alright, counselor. I let myself get distracted by my own thoughts as well. Though it might be prudent to focus on where both of us are walking in the future.

He offered a slight smile. He rarely had been distracted enough to walk into someone or them into him because he didn’t step aside beforehand.

Shortrith: Yeah, I'll look where I'm going next time. How are you going with everything?

Toryn took a moment to study the counselor and could only imagine how much more weight recent events weighed on them given how they and their department were the ones having to console the rest of the crew. He truly hoped the counseling staff were talking with one another to get themselves through this too.

Raga: I’m well enough. Took a walk to clear my head and to get Sylara out of my office for a bit. Since she currently can’t fly due to her wing she can’t just fly around the ship like she used to. Aside from that, I worry about the crew.

The owl gave a soft hoot and rotated her head to stare at the Klingon a moment before her head bobbed up and down in greeting.

Shortrith: That's certainly understandable, given everything that's happening.

Raga: Agreed. Facing a deadly plague is tough enough, but the fact our Captain was also afflicted doesn’t help. I know firsthand how demoralizing it can be for a crew when their CO is injured.

Shortrith: Response

The Al-Leyan reached up to scritch Sylara’s chest plumage while still looking at the counselor.

Raga: My family is on the Blackheart. They hadn’t managed to get infected, thankfully. My kids have already faced enough near death experiences before they could crawl. I’m glad they lucked out. And apologies, counselor. If I seem, abrasive at all. My people have a long standing hatred of Klingons. A history of bloody conflicts and all that. It’s something I know I need to work on, so I was actually planning on scheduling a session with you specifically to do that.

Shortrith: Response

Toryn shook his head slightly and Sylara let out a soft hoot as her head rotated to look at him.

Raga: The crew needs you more than I at the moment. This is something I’ve carried my whole life. They just survived the deadliest plague in the galaxy, so I can wait. How are you holding up? I imagine helping so many try to cope with all this takes its toll.

This time a much warmer smile graced his face. His love for the crew vastly outweighed any old biases.

Shortrith: Response
