Raedai: Unless they are looking for something that needs the life support of a humanoid... or someone.

A pause settled only momentarily as the Romulan's Vulcan counterpart agreed.

Alieth: That is... logical. But who or what could be so important as to make all this display?

Nicholotti: They may be attempting to secure a...forced workforce. It's happened here before.

Alieth: Commodore, can we contact the station? Can we contact the Ambassador's offices or Commander Stergis?

Raedai: You don't risk troops for slaves, however little you value the lives of your soldiers, they are more valuable. It is highly inefficient. It’s must be another thing.

The comment was dry, harsh, and it came from someone whose culture did take slaves.

Nicholotti: We've been trying. I have hoped that they have heard us at least and have the hope of backup, but we've heard nothing back so far. Once the Marine teams reach the operational core, we should have some limited comms though.

Alieth: If the initial assault was aimed at taking out something... or someone, it makes sense that they would send the smaller ships first. It would give them time to get whatever it is they were looking for, and make a tactical withdrawal when the Leviathans arrived.

The commander spoke while the Romulan thought and looked at the situation on the operations console.

Alieth: Only then would it be time to destroy the station, and strike a blow towards their domination of this sector... at the same time as they concealed the theft they had carried out. The Fleet would never have known, they would assume that whoever or whatever they had stolen was destroyed with DS33. A master plan.

Raedai: This is one possibility.

From Alidar's point of view, to refine those theories they lacked something that they had been lacking throughout the mission, they lacked information. And from a Romulan's point of view, that was one of the biggest problems anyone could have.

Nicholotti: I am sure there will be time to understand this after they are gone.

Alieth: We cannot be sure unless we contact DS33 or one of the ships. But first that vessel would have to be deactivated.

It appeared that the Ronin then launched a shuttle of some kind and Kali narrowed her eyes as what few enemy fighters remained seemed to hone in on it. She looked to the marine on her bridge and issued redirection orders.

Nicholotti: Divert the fighters.

Raedai: Response

The Vulcan officer nodded with confident firmness.

Alieth: The lieutenant can give you more technical details, but a pulse of the main deflect at the moment they activate the weapons will completely destroy them.

A quick look to the large burned out hulk of a ship drifting among a veritable cloud of debris made her wonder if that had already happened here.

Raedai: The configuration for the pulse can be found in the database we have brought. Since this is a Vesta class ship, the main deflector is oversized for proper QSD operation. So the pulse can be much stronger than it has been so far.

He pointed to the operations console, where he could see the effects of the chronitrons along with the Sencha radiation. From his point of view it was possibly the main reason for the damage to the Alliance ships.

Nicholotti: Do we feel that is needed at this juncture? Would it ensure success?

It was clear that the alliance could take a suicidal path, they had already done something similar that day. But in this case they had something to achieve. But for Starfleet, they had more to gain than lose by being able to use that asset.

Alieth: Responses?

Kali nodded thoughtfully as the fighters swarmed and yet more enemy ships faded out. An explosion near the shuttle drew her attention back and she smiled slightly.

Nicholotti: It may be that we have already won this battle, but that very plan may win the war.

Khitomer/Ronin: =/\= Responses? =/\=

Raedai: The Laticce Alliance ships should be taken into account, the Ronin and the Khitomer are almost in pieces.

The enemy ships were not much better, but taking down more than one starship could be a worthy objective before losing that battle.

Nicholotti/Alieth: response

Raedai: we can extend the shields over one of the ships, but it would draw fire to the other.

Looking over an officer's shoulder, it wasn't enough for the Romulan, he would like to be sitting somewhere else, he needed to be able to do more. But that was not his place.

Nicholotti/Alieth: response
