((Sickbay, Deck 10, USS Ronin))

The lights flared red, and Renaie had barely it to Sickbay, their small gaggle of injured folk not too far behind - except for Lt. Cmdr. O'Connor, who Renaie held similar to a bridal carry as to not exacerbate any of his injuries. (It would have been a bridal carry, pretty much, were it not for their injured arm). They briskly assigned the other medical staff to tend to the other crew, but they made a point of keeping Avae with them. For Renaie, O'Connor was the one they needed to focus on most, as the others were still conscious, and he had a large wound. T'Fearne was wrapped in an osteogenic stimulator, Wren was getting checked over, and the others from the Lid were getting their respective care. They hoped to make sure they were okay before they left.

oO Alyndra and Beck were good at this. Oo

Renaie wordlessly glanced to the Chief Nurse, their face confirming that they needed a hand in patching O'Connor up, and removing the rusty pieces of the duct from his abdomen. They couldn't do it alone, especially with their injured arm.

((A little while later))

Renaie was watching over O'Connor with Avae when the most senior officer awoke.

O’Connor: What hap…::he tried to sit up but stopped when a stab of pain shot through his abdomen:: Oooof.

Shortrith: Welcome back to the land of the consious, Commander. It's good to have you back. Take it easy, you've just been patched up. Fortunately, the Chief Nurse here was able to help.

They made a point to smile at her, a wordless thank you.

Avae: Response

Renaie gently guided O'Connor back down to the biobed, and gave him a small hypospray of pain relief.

O’Connor: The rest? Wren, T’Fearne and the tech?

Shortrith: ::reassuring him:: They're okay. I made sure they were looked after.

oO That's my responsibility, after all. Oo

Avae: Response

Renaie offered a comforting hand as O'Connor appeared to remember something confronting.

O’Connor: The kids. Did you get the kids out?

Shortrith: ::looking to Avae:: You received them, yes? I remember them being transported to the ship.

Avae: Response

O’Connor: Ok, good. Thanks.

His eyes focused down to Renaie’s side.

O’Connor: What about your arm?

In all honesty, with the concern for the others, Renaie had completely forgotten about properly treating their arm.

They made a point to look away from Avae as they answered the question.

Shortrith: I must admit, I haven't treated it since the initial treatment on Moon Sigma. I'll treat it later, it's fine for now. I managed to change my uniform, so it's covered for now.

Renaie mouthed 'later' to Avae, trying to dismiss any of her concern.

O'Connor nodded then noticed several shards of rusted metal on the table behind him.

O'Connor: Were those from...?

Renaie gravely nodded.

Avae: Response

He let out a long breath and looked at the two medical professionals with gratitude.

O’Connor: Thanks, the next several hundred rounds of drinks are on me.

Renaie chuckled for a second, before glancing where O'Connor was pointing, where Dr. De La Croix was standing with the Jem'Hadar.

O’Connor: Wait, I don’t owe her too, do I?

Shortrith: Nah, just us two.

Avae: Response

Renaie frowned when O'Connor did.

Shortrith: Are you still hurting?

Avae: Response

O’Connor: No, no. Not that. The pain’s definitely dialing down. ::he suppressed a chuckle ‘cause it hurt:: I was just trying to decide if it’s worse owing my life to her or Beck? Man, I need to stop getting hurt.

Shortrith: We'll be here to help you, whatever happens.

Avae: Response

Renaie watched as O'Connor tried to sit up again, silently proud of him being able to sit up a little higher than before. They noticed him noticing the burns on his hands

O’Connor: How long ‘til I can get outta here? Something tells me this isn’t even close to over with yet.

Shortrith: It'll probably be a day or two at least, purely because the injury was as bad as it was. We'll most likely need to keep an eye on you.

Avae: Response

The three sat in comfortable silence for a few minutes before Renaie's commbadge crackled to life.

Esot: =/\= Esot to Shortrith and Zh'taan. Please meet me in Shuttlebay 1 on Deck 9 as soon as possible We will be collaborating with the Engineering team still on the surface to perform some repairs before extracting them. Bring along any emergency equipment you deem fit. =/\=

Shortrith: =/\= On my way, just need to finish what I'm doing. Shortrith out. =/\=

Zh'taan: Response

Esot: =/\= Understood. Esot out. =/\=

Renaie turned to Avae and O'Connor, an apologetic expression crossed their face.

Shortrith: Looks like I have places to be. Avae, I trust you to look after him. Take it easy, Commander.

O'Connor/Avae: Response

Renaie nodded firmly at the two, and then departed for the shuttlebay.

O'Connor/Avae: Response

((OOC: Leaving a tag for you two to continue your scene, if so desired. ))

((Shuttlebay 1, Deck 9, USS Ronin))

Renaie briskly entered the shuttlebay, noticing the Cardassian ensign that had called them standing near the USS Anna Pavlova. They nodded at her, following her motion to enter the shuttle.

Esot: Salutations. I will brief the two of you on the situation once we are ready to launch. ::looking at them both:: Are either of you rated for flying a shuttle?

Zh'taan: I’ve flown shuttles in simulators at the Academy for fun… ::he said shyly::

Shortrith: No, I'm not.

The door cycled closed behind them as the group approached the front of the shuttle.

Esot: I have some experience myself, but very limited - if either of you would care to volunteer, please have at it.

Zh'taan: I’ll do my best. ::He takes the pilot’s seat.::

Renaie was a little tentative as they didn't particularly know either of these people, but they trusted their judgement enough to sit comfortably in the shuttle.

oO They passed in the academy for a reason. Oo

The trio settled into the primary chairs, and Renaie immediately started scans, preparting for any potential risks.

Esot: We have discovered there is a Sencha-based reactor on the planet's surface that has been leaking for quite some time, and this been the source of most of the problems we have encountered on our arrival in the system. I was able to effect a certain level of repairs while in the Habitat dome, but resources were limited and I was unable to reach the other dome.

Zh'taan: ::Still trying to get the shuttle fully operational::. I see. So it’s because of this reactor that the ship is surrounded by chroniton particles, preventing it from going to warp…

Shortrith: I remember being told the Sencha reactor was to create some form of link. The scientist that Dr De La Croix is treating had something to do with it. The chronitons have posed a significant risk to anything warp related.

oO Did we find that out when we got the transmission? Oo

Esot: We have an Engineering team made up of Commander Tucker and Lieutenants Kessler and Evinrude who should be able to perform repairs, though they are also dealing with the Tholian threat on the surface. We will need to provide whatever support for them that we can in order to allow them to complete the repairs. There is a remote aspect to it as well, but I should be able to handle that once they are finished.

Zh'taan: Is it possible that we might also encounter enemies down there…?

Shortrith: Quite possible, I believe.

Renaie exhaled as Esot seemed to smile.

oO Why is she smiling at a time like this?

Esot: I believe sensors have also picked up an incoming vessel.

Shortrith: ::slightly sarcastic:: Lovely.

Esot: =/\= Anna Pavlova to Bridge. We are looking for clearance to launch. =/\=

Nicolau: =/\= Standby Pavlova, we have an unknown and potentially hostile vessel holding position relative to us. Suggest you...uh...launch aft. Keep the ship between you and the vessel as long as possible. Bridge out. =/\=

Zh'taan: Shuttle ready for departure. I’ve entered the moon’s coordinates into the computer.

Shortrith: Be careful around the vessel.

Esot: Response

Once clearance was granted by the bridge, the shuttle lifted off toward Sigma Moon. The journey lasted several dozen minutes. Renaie tensed, constantly glancing at the ensigns to make sure they were okay.

Renaie was the most senior officer on the shuttle, and the Acting Chief Medical Officer.

Safe to say, they were very protective of their crew.

Zh'taan: Ensign Esot, uh… what do you know about this Sencha radiation emitted by the reactor?

Esot: Response

Renaie was silent as they watched the moon and the landing spot come into view.

The path seemed clear. Renaie wasn't sure whether it was the Klingon or the Starfleet Officer in them, but it seemed too clear.

Their grip tightened on the extra medkit.

Zh'taan: ::He exits the shuttle first, tricorder in hand:: I’m not detecting any life signs in the immediate vicinity.

Shortrith: ::explaining:: The radiation can cause interference with our tricorders. Maybe switch them on to the highest setting, they should come up with something.

Esot: Response

Renaie glanced around the group, looking for the distinct yellowy-green blast of the radiation coming from the Lid. Theoretically, it should have been easy to spot, but… it wasn't?

Something was even more wrong than before.

Shortrith: Can either of you see the blast?

Zh'taan/Esot: Response

Shortrith: =/\= Shortrith to Tucker: We've been sent down to rejoin you guys, where are you?

Tucker/Zh'taan/Esot: Response

Shortrith: =/\= We'll try to find you. =/\=

Tucker/Zh'taan/Esot: Response
