((Corridor near Sickbay Complex, Deck 10, USS Ronin))
As she hurried down the corridor toward the stellar cartography lab, the emergency red light bathed the area in a disconcerting glow. Despite her brisk pace, each step felt like an eternity as the deafening sound of the red alert alarm echoed through the ship.
The once pristine corridor was now a scene of chaos, with scattered debris littering the carpeted floor and flames licking at the walls. The acrid scent of gas filled the air, and Alyndra hesitated, unsure whether it was from the ship's fire suppression system
or something more ominous. She quickened her pace, determined to reach safety before inhaling too much of the potentially toxic fumes.
Fortunately, Stellar Cartography was nearby, located on the same deck as Sick Bay. Alyndra quickly found the door and hurried inside.
((Stellar Cartography, Deck 10, USS Ronin))
As Alyndra entered, she interrupted a conversation among the officers, but she had to do so to ensure that they could continue their duties without falling ill from the Sencha radiation.
Syrex: ::Holding hypo spray with purpose:: Sorry to interrupt, but it’s time for your inoculations.
Alieth: Proceed ensign, but be quick.
Syrex: Lt Commander Alieth, as you are more susceptible, you should go first.
Alieth: Proceed
Alyndra quickly strode over to the Vulcan, pressing the hypo spray against Alieths neck, releasing the medication into her blood.
Raedai: I have data from the second field... I was wrong, it's not a ship.
Lorana: :: to Raedai :: It's perfect for a full assault launch … except …
Alyndra was unsure about the topic of their conversation, but it seemed crucial to the success of the Ronin's mission. After inoculating Alieth, the most vulnerable member of the trio, Alyndra decided not to interrupt just yet.
Raedai: I detect no life signs. Maybe that's why Sencha radiation is different... they don't have to protect their crew.
Lorana: No … it's emptied.
Alieth: response
Raedai: It's going to fire, the emitter is huge, it can affect both ships.
Lorana: I think it's a false …
As the Catlian spoke, the captain unknowingly iinterrupted over the comms.
Niac: =/\= Bridge to Stellar Cartography. Lt. Cmdr. Alieth, break off your observations on the target system and launch a new series of probes aft...are there any ion trails or other signs of vessels departing the system in the last day? =/\=
Alyndra did catch onto this part, was the Ronin playing possum leaked to the lattice alliance before they’d even started? Were they just lucky? Or was it all coincidence? Alyndra saw the tension rise in the room. She knew the perfect opportunity to interrupt
wouldn’t come, so she continued to climb down from the upper level to where Raedai and Lorana were working.
Alieth: =/\= Response =/\=
Niac: =/\= Can you project their course? =/\=
Alieth: =/\= Response =/\=
Niac: =/\= Understood, Commander. Refine your projections as much as you can, try to give us an approximate force composition based on the size of the signature. Bridge out. =/\=
Lorana: Commander … we can't just leave … :: looks to the holotank :: This might be our only opportunity to learn more about what the alliance have done with Sencha Niac's research and how they got it in the first place?
Alieth/Raedai: Responses
Alyndra, now having traversed her way down to the bottom of the lab, approached the Romulan Lieutenant and interrupted.
Syrex: You next Lieutenant Raedai, May I proceed?
Raedai: Response
Syrex: Thank you, please hold still…
Alyndra carefully positioned the hypo spray against the Romulan's neck, feeling a surge of uncertainty. Though she knew Romulans and Vulcans were distinct species, she couldn't shake off the nagging doubt about whether Romulans possessed any telepathic abilities
like their Vulcan counterparts. She wondered how the Sencha-Waves would affect Romulans, but also decided that now was not the time to experiment, certainly not without her patients consent.
Lorana: This whole time we've done exactly what they expect Commander! And I know that you agree with me … somewhere.
Lorana: We can stay behind. I'll stay behind myself if that's what it takes!
Alieth/ /Raedai: Responses
Admittedly at this point, Alyndra felt a little intimidated by Luxa’s increase in volume. She’d had great experiences with Catlians in the past, but there was still a raw instinctual part of Alyndra who saw them as dangerous purely because they resembled predatory
animals. However, she knew this was Xenophobic and made every conscious effort she could to make sure that this never affected any working or personal relationship that Alyndra had.
Syrex: Apologies, Lieutenant. But it is your turn now, may I?
Luxa appeared as if to say "go ahead," and Alyndra assumed she was so deep in her feelings that she didn’t have the energy to respond verbally. However, taking it as permission, Alyndra pressed the hypo spray against Lt. Lorana’s neck, dispensing the inoculation.
Lorana: :: more focused :: I suggest we take the Rhine, and investigate that platform, we can use the subspace eddies created by the S-Wave radiation to mask our presence.
Alieth/ Raedai: Responses
Syrex: I’m done, if any of you begin to feel ill or strange in any way, please contact sickbay ::Looks towards Alieth:: Especially you Lt Commander.
Alieth/ Raedai/Lorana: Responses
Alyndra begins to walk towards the door, but briefly pauses, turning on her heels to look around at Luxa.
Syrex: Lieutenant, if you’re thinking of going over to that platform, I would recommend taking a medic, in case anything should happen.
Luxa: Response
As she turned away from the door, Alyndra left the room and proceeded through the debris-strewn corridor once again. The flashing red, yet dimly lit passage bore signs of a recent fire, with scorched walls and lingering smoke, but the flames had now been extinguished,
leaving behind a faint scent of charred metal. As the gas had now dispersed, Alyndra made her way back to the ship’s sick bay at a more normal pace, taking note of the subtle changes in the environment as she went towards the turbolift to ascend to the upper
level.
